Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Daisalana replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Haydee- Your cousin sounds like my DH. Get her one of those super soft throws from Wal-Mart. Everytime I go by there, I rub my face on them hah hah. They're like microsuede? And maybe a gift certificate to Barnes & Nobles if she reads, or Best Buy if she likes music/video games. -
LOL.. glad it worked out, and I like the joke.
-
I'm not lauraj anymore hah.. Anyway, another forum I'm on, the mods or some upper power guru can change names.. wanted to see if that's possible here? I don't want to make a new name, but I want a different user name. Lemme know :biggrin1:

Thanks Alex or whoever did it. And I've gotten PM's from people interested in doing it now.. hope it's not too big of a trouble!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
Daisalana replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hm, let me think about it -
Same here.. my parents lived in a bubble that me and DH, the years we lived together unmarried, they decided we lived in seperate rooms (mmhm).. so when we came home for Christmas, they would make us sleep in seperate rooms. I did it out of respect, but.. it's just the different times. Maybe the kid is bothered by it, but then someone should sit down with her and explain that daddy and this lady like each other, and.... whatever else you explain to a kid.

Morning V's! I got my username changed, woot. This is what I normally use for forums, but when I joined LBT I didn't plan to stick around, I just made up a name so I could post questions (while researching). Course, I stuck around and have been wanting to change it for a while, good times! I've had several PM's of people asking me if I am laura lol. I have to go to the MALL tomorrow with my dad to help him finish his shopping. They need to get on board with me, I did 90% of my shopping in November just so I didn't have to go to the mall the weekend before Xmas! TGIF everyone, be good!! -
My staples.. Grits with cheese.. Grits with butter.. Mashed potatos & gravy. Mashed potatos with broth from campbell's chicken noodle on top.

Congrats at bein near goal!! I look frumpy for as long as I can handle it in my too-big clothes. It's a lot easier with shirts, as long as they're not the 'cut to look sexy' shirts.. which then look just weird. But for pants, I found a pair I love, and I buy 2 pair at a time of whatever size I'm in from the store. I bought 21's and they didn't even last a month.. just bought 19's and they're gettin baggy now too. Anyone want some sexy 21 size jeans? 35" inseam.

Oh and we had a big problem with people's trash getting in our yards somehow in NM.. when we moved here it was fine, till about 2 weeks ago, we're getting a bunch of random trash in our yard. It really fumes me, it's from people putting boxes of trash out, they won't pick up boxes, so the box rots away and trash flies into MY yard.. I don't know why it's MY yard. So.. I've been getting the trash and evenly distributing it among neighbors lawns. Hopefully, everyone will get pissed off enough to do something about it.

Since this thread has been resolved, I had to comment on the political correct santa. The world is coming to an end with all the political correctness, and I refuse to conform. I had a new customer call this morning and actually said "Merry Christmas!... well, or hannukah or.. or..whatever.." before he could finish I said "MERRY CHRISTMAS!" and then we laughed and I said "I don't care who you are, it's a Merry Christmas and that's that".
-
Hahaha!! I actually had my trash can stolen when I lived in NM. Wasn't a small one, but it was the city issued ones.. so while we had none, we were hosed. I droved around the neighborhood checking the serial numbers on everyone's can, and never found mine.. But I thought WTF too. had to pay the city 10 bucks to bring us a new one. Glad they brought it back, cookies were very funny. Now I'd go ask them WTF they were thinking stealing a big ass trash can?? You handled it better than me, if I saw the house with my trashcan, I would have emptied the trash can on their lawn (I pre-meditated this for my situation) and taken it back.

Honesty about drinking soft drinks please ?
Daisalana replied to TNNurse Linda's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Oh, and I had champagne at my wedding. But though I've heard it hurts some people, even with tight restriction the carbonation doesn't bother me. I had my diet sierra mist blue moon last night and took a sip to take some meds.. and I felt it fizzling and gurgling for 10 minutes. -

I was addicted to Mt. Dew.. 1 month pre-op I gave it up cold turkey. I figured if I could give up my beloved Mt. Dew, I was committed to doing this. And I've been Mt. Dew free ever since! I do still have a Shirley Temple (grenadine & 7-up) when I go to the casinos (once every 2 months-ish). And I have a diet sierra mist once in a blue moon.. the good thing about diet sodas, is I think they taste like crap.. so a sip or two and I go back to my water. -
What Age were you when Banded or if you're considering Banding?
Daisalana replied to SpecialK's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
17 when I considered bypass, 22 when I heard about lap-band and decided to get it.. 23 when I got it. But I know for a fact, if we knew about the band and/or it was around when I was 10 (or any teen age), my mom would have signed for me to get it then. -
Is it normal for weight to come off this fast?

Is A Sonogram Required Prior To Surgery
Daisalana replied to ALOCO53's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Wow, that is horrible. My doctor did a sonogram a month pre-op.. said my liver was borderline too big, and made me do a shrink your liver diet, but unless I was already knocked out, he didn't do another one. He had told me before if my liver ended up too big when they went to laproscopically place it, they would just convert to an open-surgery. -
Vitamin question not seen yet

I am very tight right now, and can take my prilosec, B/C, and occasional sleeping pill. Sometimes they are painful going down, but I have only had an 'episode' on meds when taking a water retention pill. It's an herbal biggie.. was about the size of a nickel and you gotta swallow it. Now, I should have known better.. but I figured it'd just be painful and I'd get over it.. but it got stuck and I ended up spitting it up (NASTY). -
Backing out and saying my thankyous

Good luck with your surgery, hope it all works out!! -
I take that back, I could down a steak & shake milkshake at over 1k a pop.
-
Yup... I finally have 'good restriction', it's undeniable, and no 'Is this what restriction feels like?'.. I have to fight to eat more than 1k calories a day.
-
Just wanted to see what this thread feels like.. hah.. so far to go
-
A cup of hearty chili keeps me full all day. I have a lot of restriction right now, and liquids keep me full just as long as solids did a month ago. Thicker soups do it for me too. For solids, eggs keep me fullest longer, I think they hang around for a long time in my stomache. I had eggs for lunch yesterday and burped some up (no discomfort or stuck sensation all day) around dinner time.

Though I've heard people weighing themselves down successfully, what does your doc to do weigh you? At mine, I would have had a hard time. He's made me take off my coat, and you never get weighed with shoes on, you have to be bare foot so the metal in the bottom can calculate something about fat.. or whatever. And they did measure my height with something they have on the wall. Sounds like a lot of people don't have to do all that though. I'd opt to weigh myself down before gaining even more weight. Of course, if my insurance would pay it if I just gained 13 more lbs, I may have even done that too. Would have saved me a lot of money & headache!
