Crud - I swallowed a piece of gum :-(
Daisalana replied to AlysonRR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gum makes me nauseated from not eating...and I don't like mint. So I've never been a gum chewer! If you can keep from swallowing it, and it's that important to you, I'd keep chewing it.. carefully. Maybe install a grate in your throat that won't let gum slip through hehehehehe. -
NEW! 2008 Shrinkin' Vi's Trip Planning Thread!!
Daisalana replied to mdrai's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well I'm in the same boat, my flights don't coordinate with what Michelle originally posted. Maybe we'll just have to have a vi's party in the airport while we wait for everyone to get in  -
Has anyone negotiated the Lap Band Price?
Daisalana replied to sweetrepose's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doctor had a discount price for self-pay. Due to having to go for surgery #2 to fix the port, I did negotiate fills. Right now I have free fills/unfills indefinitely. We didn't set a time line on it, but to make up for the extra $2.5k out of pocket, I said, how bout you throw in free fills for a while, and he agreed. -
NEW! 2008 Shrinkin' Vi's Trip Planning Thread!!
Daisalana replied to mdrai's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Ok, for me.. the best deal & only 1 stop to BWI arrives at 3pm in BWI. And looking through the higher priced ones, this is still the earliest. If everyone else can coordinate to get there in the morning (flights I mean), then I'll look into flying in the night before. But people who are flying, see the times available to you and post, so we can compare. I also found a return flight on 19th at 5pm. -
NEW! 2008 Shrinkin' Vi's Trip Planning Thread!!
Daisalana replied to mdrai's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Edit, stupid post. -
I was just going with your invitation post.. the 16-19, and noon for 16th, evening for 19th. I guess I'll wait. But the farther out we get the tickets, the cheaper they are..

Thank you Kat! Your words of wisdom are always appreciated  It's not abusive in any way, I get verbally abusive because I get mad at how his immaturity makes me feel overtime, and I always regret it. If he ever even tried to hit me, I got a lot of redneck uncles that have guns and are prepared hah hah. I am going to go buy my plane ticket for the trip, is it 100% locked in on dates & times?
-
I have potatoes every once in a while.. I'm not low-carbing. I have found red potatoes are lower in calorie though and IMO taste better. That rarely happens! It's good if you boil or nuke it, and add butter, garlic salt, and sour cream.. MmMM

Haydee- Exactly. I hate feeling like a parent in my relationship.. something to do with men take FOREVER to mature, right? Yay Pam on the scale!! That puts us even, right?? I've been at 251.2, 251.4, as high as 251.8 the other day. But 251 is the number of the week. I knew I'd jinx myself if I said something, but I've stopped moving since I mentioned it. I've been eating more than usual (TOM), so I did myplate to see the damage. 1,700 calories yesterday, 1,500 the day before that. I remember early in my band journey trying to stay at 1,600 was impossible. Now on bad days I hit that. Not bad! From 270 to 251, I have not noticed a body difference unfortunately. I don't look skinnier. And I got my size 17 jeans last night (NO STRETCH eek). I can put them on, but the muffin above (which seems to just be skin yuck) sticks out a good 7 inches from the jeans. How gross is that? But I can suck it in and it lays flat with the jeans. My tummy skin is getting nasty. I'm noticing bad puckering of the skin under my belly button, creating a line down to the bottom of my belly. And if I wear any pants, I create dimples on either side of my belly button. Waaah.

Glad to see you back Haydee!! Lunasa hasn't responded to e-mails or PM's in over a month (Kat & I tried to contact her). I don't know where she went.

I don't do special dieting, I just eat smaller portions. I don't keep chips & candy in the house (most the time) because I will eat them if they're there. If I don't have them in the house, I don't want them (too lazy to actually go get them). I make an effort to eat more meat on my plate than anything else. But I still eat the mashed potatoes, or veggies, etc. And so far, I think I'm doing pretty good! Take your bag of 'good foods' to wherever your friends are eating. I've done that. Hell, my husband brings in a bag of McDonalds when we go to Red Lobster (he's allergic). They don't seem to mind.

Those 100 calories hostess things.. I don't really like those anyway, but my dad bought them in his effort to act like he's eating better. He loves em. I tried one, I didn't like it.. but I think it's cause I don't really like the normal ones. I vote UP tracy. You pull off the up-do so well. It flatters your face nicely. When my hair is up, makes my face look fatter, thats why I opted for down even in 120 degree weather (ugh). And even though you don't like your arms (I didn't like mine either), I think shawls & wraps don't look appropriate for wedding dresses. That's just my 2 cents though! That's why I was originally wanting the winter wedding so I could just wear a long sleeve.

I think all of LBT has been messed up recently, maybe has to do with the changes. One change I DON'T like, is how when you click on this thread for example, it takes you to the end, not where you left off. If you click on this thread from it's recent posts, it takes you to where you left off. When they sub-divided the groups like it is now, you can't ever click on recent posts unless it's the last thing posted in the entire monthly forums area. I feel better today, me and DH are being nicer to each other. And Michelle, I see what you're saying, but it's not a situation where I'm in a bad marriage and I'm settling.. I'm being very general because I don't like to air my dirty laundry.. always seems to doom me if I do hah hah. I love him and he's a great person, but in the past few months he's making just.. STUPID decisions, and I'm having to act like his mom, taking things from him and 'punishing' him and I hate it. I told him he needs to grow up and quit acting like he's my kid. He wasn't always like this, so something is up. I don't know what it is, but I'm not gonna put up with it anymore. But he doesnt understand why I'm so upset, so he's not going to change. So once every couple weeks we get into a big fight about it, and I'm just.. tired. I think the tightness due to stress is hitting me. I love this squash I made the other night (sautee'd with garlic).. I am having such issues getting it to go down, why!! So I had some for lunch, 2 bites and I hurt, and I ended up with a small PB about 30 minutes later, the edge of the squash. So I think I'll try peeling them next time I make it. We're going to Old Navy to return some clothes I bought online. Everyone who's mentioned buying their plus size, say they run small. I've ALWAYS found they run big. In any event, the women's plus is 'web exclusive', so I order from there. Since I can possibly fit into VS's XL, I decided to check out their normal size women's. Well.. Old Navy's women's go to 2xl! What's the difference?! So I ordered some shirts on sale from the normal women's in 2x, and then some of the plus shirts in 2x. I also bought a belt in 3x (just to be sure it fit). Well the 2xl from the normal women's looks like a tent on me. Literally. Ok I know I don't have body dysmorphia? in the way that I think I'm bigger than I am. I've always thought I'm smaller than I am. But with the XL shirt I am wearing from the Bitten line.. and now a 2xl old navy shirt is a tent on me, I don't know what's going on! Their 2xl sweater I got from the plus department fits perfect. Goofy sizing, I need to stop buying online right now, seems nothing fits anymore. Oh and the 3x belt.. I'm a good 7 inches past the smallest notch. That was weird. So I'm returning both of those, probably for a store credit if they don't carry plus in the store. If they do carry plus, DH going to sit with me while I try on a bunch of stuff to get sizing info. Then we're off to Best Buy.. we got a lot of BB gift cards for xmas. Not sure what we're getting yet. And finally, I found a butcher in my city. I've been watching cooking shows where they make lamb stuff, or duck stuff. I love lamb, never had duck. I wanted to try making both. Going to run by the butcher also and get some duck breasts. From the sounds of it- i'd like it. I don't like how dry chicken is, but everyone says duck is like lamb, or like beef, etc. Num num. I'm rambling.

Hum, trying to find good info on this, none of those links seem to pull anything good up to explain it really. I did see in Tulsa they do it under mild sedation, not anesthesia. If you did your whole body, I couldn't imagine doing it awake!!

I think the cycles is right. Of all my friends I grew up with, everyone got married around the same time.. and now they're all popping out kids. They're all getting pregnant, havin miscarriages, gettin pregnant, blah blah blah.. all in the same month every time, their myspaces are ridiculously.

Well at least he'll get cancer treatment, and organ transplants if he needs them.. while on death row. And if it's lethal injection, they'll use an alcohol swab.

Nervous About Attending Seminar
Daisalana replied to ThinDolphin3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm pretty certain no one is going to be looking at you and wondering why you're there.. Everyone is pretty much anxious to find out more information about surgery, they're not there to judge your weight and decide if you're a candidate for the surgery -
The packets of Grits (Butter flavor) are 100 calorie per pack. I love those things, I eat them for b'fast when I have the time, and lunch sometimes when I think about it.

Ohhh Tracy it's so beautiful, and you're so beautiful. I love it Look at that great figure.

Crud - I swallowed a piece of gum :-(
Daisalana replied to AlysonRR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Urban Legends Reference Pages: Seven Years to Digest Gum It wouldn't let me copy & paste but.. it says vegetable-oil softens gum. It says your body doesn't digest it, but it of course goes through your body. If it doesn't go through your body, I wonder how long it actually will stay around. I would try to barf it up.. Here's some other random website info I found.... Peanut Butter works - Rub creamy peanut butter into hair and work it into the gum. It will dissolve the gum. The enigmatic enzyme that dissolves gum might occur in chocolate. When I was a child, my Double Bubble gum would disintegrate if I ate M&Ms at the same time -
I don't like fish either... I wish I liked salmon, it LOOKS good on menus hehe. My dad who also does not like fish.. Says Mahi-Mahi and Tilapia are meaty 'steak tasting fish'. He loves it, and when we go to nice restaurants, he opts for one of those over steak (which is wow.) I have tasted both, I didn't like the mahi-mahi, but the tilapia is pretty good. I still wouldn't order it since I'm afraid I won't like it, but if you're on doctor's orders, I'd definitely suggest trying it! What about crab/lobster? Is that considered fish? I could eat the heck out of that.

Crud - I swallowed a piece of gum :-(
Daisalana replied to AlysonRR's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I don't think food tenderizer or pineapple juice will help it. That's why I was warned against it, gum has uber powers heh heh. Remember the story they told you as a kid, it takes 7 years to digest 1 piece of gum. Wheets, I'm waitin for you to post the name of the stuff! I want pretty breath. -
I stopped taking my measurements out of frustration. I started at 53-47-53 (about, I'm at work and don't have the chart here). Now I am 46-41-46. That's not a huge leap to me, and it annoys me. AND when I'm trying to find new clothes online, sizing charts never have 46-41-46.. it's always like 46-38-54. !?

Swelling and Redness around my Port???
Daisalana replied to Ann D's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That sounds like an infection, definitely call your doc! -
They found out mine was flipped 6 months post-op, but from the history of fills, it was flipped since the first month. I personally never felt anything sitting around.. however, when I did fills, he always pushed down on the port, and this was miserable. That hurt a LOT, and I thought it was normal. But now that my port is fixed, it does NOT hurt to push on it, so I assume it had to do with being flipped.
