Yeah if you find one that I can search for in alabama let me know, I can't think of any restaurants around here like that unless it's some place I didn't know about.

Flour tortillas make me spit up.. but I think it may be that I don't chew them well enough. However, even with a conscious effort, I have issues.. so I just marked them off my list. Never a huge fan of them to begin with. Almond milk sounds interesting.. the unsweetened kind, do you just drink it and it's sweet or what?

The 'last supper' mentality is bad bad. It's NOT TRUE. After being banded, and after your post-op diet, and before good restriction you will be able to eat like you did pre-band. So don't flub your diet now with the thought that you'll never eat again. It's just not so

Consuming 600-900 calories/day-is this wrong?
Daisalana replied to charlygirl08's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My advise, throw in 1-2 days a week where you eat 1500 calories. Your body will adjust to eating so few calories, so if you're having a plateau, in my experience, mixing it up with the calories keeps me from stalling. I eat about 900 calories a day, and a couple days a week I go up to 1,600. If you can't eat that much, I have it in an indulgence (600 calorie shake! ho hum) -
Congrats!! Good luck on the interview. Make sure you wear sexy matching lingerie, it helps give you the confidence boost during interviews!

They Just Don't Understand
Daisalana replied to Xfballplayer72's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just wanted to chime in on the 'too-young' comment. I am 23, and banded shortly after turning 23... And I wish I had done it earlier!! Just because we're young, doesn't mean we haven't been there and done that. I've been fat since I came outta my momma. At 8 years old I cried about having to pick up the golf ball out of the hole because it hurt my back too much. At 19-20 I had crippling.. and not ow it hurts, but crippling back pain. I could not walk anymore. I was too proud, my doc told me to start using those scooters when I go in public. I wasn't going to be caught dead doing that, I was only 20... that shouldn't happen to me!! So I just didn't go anywhere. And I was gaining weight even more rapidly from not doing anything. My great-grandmother was diabetic. Looking at pictures of she and I at the same age, we looked identical. By 30 she was bed-ridden and weighing 700+lbs. At 35 she died in her bed, and was one of those people that became a spectacle when her body was removed from the home. I did WW and failed. I did Atkins, lost a lot of weight, gained it all back + some. Atkins was the best success I had, until the band. I officially passed my Atkins success a month ago. I now have no back problems when I walk. I feel like I have been given a new life, I feel youthful (FINALLY). So.. as for being too young, if I 'just tried dieting some more', I might have ended up like my g'gma. -
I have to admit, the Richard Simmons videos are FUN! My Granny bought the sweatin to the oldies when I was younger, and she and I would dance and exercise.. brings back good memories. My biggest problem about workout videos, I have the walk-away-the-pounds which I did SO WONDERFULLY when I lived on my own in Atlanta.. is that I don't want anyone-even DH-seeing me exercise. Especially in front of my TV, something about it makes me feel so emberassed! So the few times I've tried to do my video, I lock the bedroom door, I'm gettin into it, then DH knocks askin why I locked the door. Then I gotta pause, wipe my flushed face, and peek out and tell him to go away. Then I'm emberassed anyway, and give up. I've tried telling him ahead of time not to disturb me, I'm workin out.. and he forgets..never fails. So I haven't been doing that. I have just been walking more, like when I take my dog out, I don't just take her out.. I take her on a walk around the block. I hate myself for being lazy though, especially when I hear about Judy on the bike and all her toys.. and then Pam doing her classes. I'm jealous, and yet unmotivated to change it. I have a feeling when I stop losing, I'll have to kick it up in gear, and I dread it. I hate exercising. I have a migraine right now, just took 2 horse pills and feel them bouncing around. Hopefully migraine meds can work from the upper pouch!

Pregnant and Banded...come join me!
Daisalana replied to raynie's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hey let me ask all you pregnant ladies. I always thought about how, if I lose weight and get preggy, I can just wear my OLD *bigger* sizes. Do you have to wear maternity, or can larger sizes work the same way? -
If your BMI is under 40, you need 2 documented co-morbities. One thing you can try to do, is have your doc fudge it up. Some will do that for you. I know sleep apnea & diabetes are on the list, but I would ask your doc if he can turn your 'sleep disorder' into sleep apnea, etc. Honestly, just call BCBS with your policy info, explain the situation and they will tell you if it's worth persuing. I have BCBS of AL, but my policy does not cover ANY obesity treatments. Good luck

Jollies seems to be interpretated as something 'bad', and it's not. Jollies just means, something you like. I don't like it, I don't get my jollies from it. You do, you get your jollies. That's ok, I said let them have it  And I do know a lot of people find fellowship to be important in Christianity, but that goes back to where I say.. do what you believe. I would never tell someone they are wrong for wanting to do fellowship in their religion. And just among christianity there are different denominations that disagree with each other. I don't think the only conflict is between religious vs. non-religious. I would be hard pressed to find a lot of fellow christians who believe the Kansas church that protests funerals because "God hates fags", is right. But my personal bottom line is, why bother debating it? Wanting to get info and perspective is fine I guess, I was just more talking about the heated arguments that lead to hurt feelings, and from real life experience, that's where religious debates always lead. I do think intelligent people can have an intelligent debate about these things, but it rarely ends up that way because it becomes emotional.

My Crackpot Theory RE: The Vagus Nerve
Daisalana replied to lessnless's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Might be a psychosis problem of mine, but I try to reason why something would or would not work. And this nerve is one of those things I wanted to play with. It's stupid stuff I do, like.. if I chew the crap out of a chewable Vitamin I think it will absorb better.. or, if I drink something cold my stomach will shrink and I can eat less, etc. So I thought maybe if I eat a certain way, I can hit the nerve. Just stuff I do out of boredom.. desperation..play with my 2nd calling to be a scientist.. I dunno. -
Blue C sounds cool, never seen a place like that.

Wheet- Jollies is a relative term, I meant it as.. some people like it. And you just explained why you like it, so yes, that's your 'jollies' :wink2:

PREGNANT while waiting to be banded???
Daisalana replied to coolcrystal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had to take a pregnancy test immediately prior to any surgeries I've ever had as well. So I guess cross your fingers it's not happening just yet :wink2: -
I lost 35lb in my first week.. I didn't LOOK like I lost 35lb, so I don't know what the weight was. I started with 150+ to lose.

Oh and I just had to add this, it pops in my head everytime I see 'heated' religious debates. People only get heated because it bothered them.. In an episode of Six Feet Under, Claire who is an artist and in college for art.. is told she's not an artist. She gets so upset. Later, someone told her.. You must doubt that you're an artist. Because that's like someone telling me I am purple. I would laugh at them, because I know I'm not. People may say something along the lines of ignorance from being religious, or that they know more about the Bible than Christians, blah blah.. and you should just laugh. :wink2:

That was a well thought post. I may have thought it sometime or another, but it seems like it won't do anything. I've learned in the real world as well as online, there's some things that are just best not to bring up. I am a christian, who does not particularly care for the politics of church, and fellowship.. But I have my beliefs and that's enough for me. So, I don't like to go anywhere and 'debate' things like religion. That's like someone trying to debate with you that the grass is purple. You believe what you believe, it's not going to 'solve' anything. Why bother? I don't see the benefit of debates like that. But, my 2 cents. I've peeked into religious 'debates' here once or twice, but it's not my cup of tea. It doesn't make sense to me. But I think if there's people out there that gets their jollies from it, let em have it *shrug*.

My Crackpot Theory RE: The Vagus Nerve
Daisalana replied to lessnless's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Obviously not! I skimmed through and didn't see anything about it having to do with the stomache (it mentions it connects at the abdomen at some point). Now I see, wish it had more info. I was hoping to see pics of where it hits the stomach. -
Did I eat too much at once?
Daisalana replied to mindyemt08's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
eggs & tuna are quality foods. During mushies I was still tight from the swelling, but once my swelling went down, I would have easily been able to eat 3 scrambled eggs and some tuna. And that's right about your size, if your BMI is only 34, the smallest band (which was not too terribly tight on my 43 starting BMI- I forget it exactly), the band probably is not restricting you at all at this point. Now you just have to make conscious decisions to eat smaller, but you're healing and if you had the eggs and tuna and you didn't get sick, don't worry about it. You're not shoving candy and Cookies and ice cream down your pie hole, right?... right? hehe! When you get your fills and restriction going, then you won't be able to eat that much. But for now, it's not unusual. -
Wow, the grocery bill is so much LESS!
Daisalana replied to gingerbug's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My bill is actually more expensive, and more often. I buy fresh stuff now (fruits, veggies), and they go bad so quick and they tend to be more expensive then I guess what I use to buy (bulk crap). -
Uhm... Post-op.. and pre-good restriction.. I could eat like a Chili's burger (which are huge) if I took one side of the bun off. And then I would eat it with knife & fork and only could get down a couple bites. I tried to eat a Big Fish from Burger King and failed on the first 'bite'. Since good restriction, the thought of biting into a burger is kind of scary. A tiny piece of chicken gets stuck, so 2 pieces of bread and whatever is in between it are not going to go anywhere in my body. Even if I chew and chew, it would be too much to swallow at once, so I'd have to break it apart in my mouth and swallow smaller pieces at a time.. and bread chewed up a lot is pretty nasty. It will all depend on your restriction and you individually. I can't eat a 'bite' of something like a burger or taco or burrito.

My Crackpot Theory RE: The Vagus Nerve
Daisalana replied to lessnless's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just curious, I went to look up info on Vagus nerve. I've heard something about this, but didn't know the name of it. So anyway, in a nutshell nothing shows the Vagus nerve doing anything about hunger, and here's the wikipedia entry Vagus nerve - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Doesn't mention anything about it being a trigger for fullness. Is it possible you have the wrong name? I actually wanted to read up on this stuff, but didn't know the name of it.. -
I have seen the shopping addict, gambling addict, belemic, etc.. On Big Medicine they have done someone 300-400lbs heavier than him. I would think if he went on the crash course diet they give you pre-op (seems to be 6 monthsish for these cases), he'd be able to do the surgery. And if they have the insurance, they need to jump on it. He's too young to be going through all that.

Funny! I never heard that before. I watched the videos this weekend that Tom made.. I had to watch it 3-5 times.. initially, I had the experience that I was tuning out, and I see his mouth move but I'm not hearing it. So I tried round 2. Then I realized by round 3, I AM listening, he's just not even forming complete sentences. He was babbling and it made no sense. By round 4 my mom was making brain-washing noises, that we were all being brain washed. It is disappointing, I always liked him. Then he became a looney tune, and I wonder what he did to that 20 year old girl to marry him and put up with his crazy antics. Scientology has already ruined his career. I guess he has enough money he doesn't care! I stopped watching him a while ago, he even looks crazy now with his mouth closed.
