Carson's cough has gotten worse, and he had a fever again on Sunday. He wakes up screaming, but no indication of what is wrong; till last night his right ear is draining... so we took him back to the doc this morning. Ear infection in BOTH ears. He did not have any of the symptoms, I kept checking.. no red ears, no pulling at his ears, and his pain cries made him wiggle and squirm so I couldn't figure it out. So now he's on another antibiotic. He gave me a funny look when I told him his antibiotics were out on Sunday. He said it should have lasted till this wed. But I called the pharmacy last week to check if the dosage was right, and the rx was written right because I thought it was gone too quick too.. they said it was right.. I know I measured right. HUH! He said the antibiotics should make him FEEL better within 24 hours.. I sure hope so. So that's why I am MIA and behind, I have been having to hold him all the time and rock him, etc.

Although I have seen a lot of recipes where you just cook it, put evoo on it and crumble feta on it and add diced tomatos, like an anti-pasta salad (isn't that what it's called). I don't think that would be good though.
-
Yeah I love squash too, but there's really nothing squash about it when you cook it into stuff. It's just a texture, like pasta, doesn't have much of its own taste when it's put with a sauce. People I got around here to try it have experimented on their own, but my biggest suggestion is don't treat it like spaghetti (don't put a pile of it on your plate and then put sauce on it), I have figured out that the best way (IMO) is to mix it with your sauce--whatever sauce you use, so it's all well mixed.. and then bake it for a certain amount of time to make it firm up. Kind of like a spaghetti casserole if you've ever had one. And in a pinch, I have just mixed them together (sauce and squash) on the stove (I always make sauce from scratch, I figure you do too) so just add the squash to the sauce and let it get good and melded.

Happy Lucky Day!!! Pam, I didn't address one of your questions--picking out a spagh. squash. I've not found how to tell if it's "ripe" or whatever, I just buy whichever one has least amount of scratches on it (and sometimes I don't have a choice) and they all turn out the same. Only thing is small or big, and it's how much you want.. bigger they are, more you get out of it! The smallest I've ever seen are still plenty for 2.

Pam, they didn't give me that option or I would have said that was reasonable. I was texted mom while in the office since I had all that free time, when I told her about the shots, she told my my aunt had to do it and she remembers havin to take her and yadda blah blah (and then they never worked). Then the lady came in and told me I had to come in there every week for the first year, then every other week.. NO THANKS!! I want them to just cauterize the damn thing. And, I can't get a 2nd opinion, the waiting list for specialists in Hville is 2 years across the board. My allergist was going to make me wait 6m to come in, till I called back and said "In the meantime, call me something new in to try" then suddenly they had an opening. And for my 4 week follow up, walking out the door they handed me a date & time. I didn't get to schedule it, they just told me! It's unreal. I don't know if I mentioned before, but I hate my allergist's office. From reception to nurse they are all horrible with crappy attitudes. When dog allergy swole up and she goes 'you're allergic to dogs' and I went "REALLY?" like, wow huh.. and she goes "Really." all monotone and sarcastic. Then she said 'tom grass' and I said what's tom grass.. and she goes 'I don't know.. tom grass' again all monotone and sarcastic. They all give me dirty looks, and they acted like I killed their kid because I had cat hair on my shirt. I'm not getting rid of my cats and I hate that they keep telling me that and tsk'ing like I did something bad. I may not get ANOTHER one one day, but I'm not getting rid of the ones I have! Good grief! end rant. Carson is going back to daycare tomorrow if he's feeling up to it.. He's on antibiotics and doc cleared him for tomorrow. I called them to make sure the loose stooles from antibiotics isn't going to flag them (they won't let your child be in with diarhea) and she said no, they know antibiotics make them loose. Gosh who knew I'd be discussin this stuff hah hah. And I'm making my spaghetti squash thing I posted the recipe for tonight. I'm so hungry.... had to skip lunch..

Spaghetti Squash Italian There's a lot of ways to eat Spaghetti Squash that I like, but I kind of made this one up combining several recipes lately.. and it's my new fav, though I'd share. It's a combination of my granny's lasagna recipe (i love her cottage cheese part, but I don't like lasagna noodles, so I've always just eaten the cottage cheese out) and some normal recipes you find on the net for the squash. -1 Spagh Squash -Garlic Salt -S&P -EVOO -1 onion -2x cans of tomato sauce -8oz Cottage Cheese -1 egg -1/2c ground parmesian cheese -oregeno, basil, parsley -1/2lb of italian sausage meat or ground beef (could use 1lb, I just use 1/2lb to cut on calories) ---- -Cut squash in half, gut it, drizzle cut side with EVOO, sprinkle garlic salt & papper on it. Bake face-down on a foil lined baking sheet. About 1 hour @ 450 degrees. -Let it cool then pull the strands out and put into a bowl -Meanwhile brown meat & onion. Reduce heat and add tomato sauce, garlic salt, oregeno, basil and parsley to taste. Simmer 15m. -Mix cottage cheese, egg, and paremisan cheese in a bowl. -Mix the squash into the sauce on the stove until well incorperated. -In lightly sprayed 8x11 baking dish, spread the tomato/squash mix onto the bottom, then layer top with the cottage cheese mix. (Optional: add sprinkled mozzerella to the top) Baked 350 degrees for 30-45m until top is set. NUM NUM NUM

Jane have you used Singulair before, did it work? Thursday morning I spent 3 hours at the allergist before daycare called. They did more allergy tests, the ones with needles under the skin.. uh OWWWW!! I am allergic to grass & dogs now too. So that's dust, dogs, cats, and grass. That's easy to avoid, right? Heh... So she talked about doing allergy shots, but I can't commit to a shot a week for a year, and not seeing results till 15 months in. They take forever as it is (3 hours!!), I couldn't do it every week. So they gave me singulair, xyzcal, and 2 more nasal sprays to try. She said if that regulates it, I can stay on those long term. So far they aren't, but I'm sick with something respiratory so I wouldn't really know.

So yea week 1 of daycare kicked our ass. Thursday they called at noon and said I needed to pick him up, he had vomited & diarhea'd 3x's. We picked him up he seemed fine for a while then out it all came, both ends.. all Thursday, all Friday... and then Saturday morning Russ and I both got it.. oh boy. My mom came over to take care of Carson since there was no way we could. What a blessing it is to have her so close by!! She wore a mask and lysol'd everything... Then on Sat. evening Carson and I developed something else. Runny noses, congestion. Sunday I was all congested and weak, and Carson was lethargic and never wanted to play or move (all through the other sick he was 'fine' in between the puking). Then he was burning up, he had a fever of 103.5, so we paged his doc. Doc said it sounds like he may have a fever virus, on top of whatever else he had.. so we brought him in this morning. He asked me yesterday and today if Carson was coughing, I said not really then of course he is coughing in the office.. doc said he thinks it's Croup, and getting a sinus infection. Whew a lot of stuff to pick up in just 2.5 days in daycare!!!!!!! I missed half day on Thurs, Fri, and Mon of work. So for every day I got to work without distraction, I had to take off. HMMMM. Him puking was the worst thing ever to see, it got all over both of us since you can't ask them to aim for a trash can, and he'd be so distraught not knowing what happened that he wouldn't let me pull him away for a moment just to get clothes off... I knew I was going to get sick, I was covered in puke all of Thursday. Mom said she was nauseated this morning but so far not experiencing what we did. Seems like it gets weaker and weaker as it gets passed along. So that's how I spent my weekend! lol

Michelle, I am so sorry about your MIL, I can't imagine what you guys are going through... Suzie, it sounds like a lot of fun with Gia, as to eyeliner.. I started wearing eyeliner (and only eyeliner) at 11, but it didn't last long. I just wanted to be pretty, I was the tall fat girl! To-date I don't wear any make up!! Carson started daycare today, which means I found time to post! He's the oldest in the infant, he's the only one moving, the rest are 6m or less. He doesn't go to the next room until he's 1 year AND walking well. I hope he gets there soon, when we put him on the floor with the other 2, he just took their toys and 'nicely' tapped them on the head with them. They just stared at him. When we were leaving (while he was occupied) he turned and saw us and went "UH!" and started crawling fast out the door.. the director went and played with him and we left. I just called to check up she said 'the 11 month old?' I said yes, and she goes 'He was playing last time I looked, let me go check........ Yup, he's playing!' So hopefully this will go well. Anytime I start getting anxiety or sad about it, I divert my attention. I don't want to worry about him or feel bad. And my allergies are as bad as ever, I called them to make another appt, they cant get me in until June. I am going through a box of tissue a day, I take Zyrtec, Claritin, Benadryl and 2x Rx allergy meds every day and nothing helps. I asked if they could prescribe me something new in the mean time to try and she's like, we can't give you anything without seeing you.. I said, nothing has changed, my allergies are just like they were when you saw me the last 2 times!! She said she'd call me back after talking to the doc.

Yay Suzie! Sounds like you had a good start :smile2:) And JANE! 9lb is great, that's 9lb in the right direction, ya know?? Ok I've been crazy busy, and tomorrow night Russ & I are going to Tunica for the weekend.. his parents are coming down to babysit, so I'm hoping they get some good quality time with Carson, and if they have any problems my mom is right down the road. My poor friend, her mom was released today, which we all thought was weird, they have mandatory psych for these things, so I'm curious what happened.. her husband says she was discharged.. I think he just took her out. In any event, she got out, he took her home, went to work... friend's sister stopped by with her baby to cheer momma up, and she's in the tub again all messed up. So friend said sounds like she did same thing again, and she called me and was freaking out and then she started cryin when paramedics got there. It's so sad, I can't imagine doing this with your MOM.. So keep her in your prayers still :w00t:
-
Prayers all around! My friend's mom is Lori, she took a bunch of pills and they found her underwater in the tub. She's been intubated since they brought her in, but friend said she thinks she's going to be ok. She's been moved to ICU. There's so much back story to that, I feel so bad for my friend (she's the godmother of Carson), she's had to deal with a lot of crap lately, and this was out of left field. Judy, I know you'd do what's best for Ethan, but I hope you don't end up being put in that situation. I feel so bad for gma's that end up having to raise their grandkids. Seems so unfair.. My mom had to raise my niece for her first year (both parents drug addicts), then the mom just up and moved to NJ to be with her family, and my mom has only seen her once since then (she's 9 now). I know it breaks my moms heart, but I know she didn't sign up to have another baby.

Pray for my friend's mom, she is in the hospital, tried to kill herself.

I know I'm behind... I needed to see it too Michelle!! I am PMSing and I could eat all the Hershey that Hershey made... but I keep telling myself, nothing tastes as good as skinny feels!! I am FINALLY able to squeeze my big belly into smaller pants again.. not original pre-preg by far, but smaller than what I've been having to wear. I can't go backward!! I WON'T!! Thank you for sharing those Judy that is soooooo sweet!! And do I see ROBIN EGGS on the table behind him? Oh no, it's almost that time.. Carson took his first steps yesterday.. first 2 were good and we were so excited, by time we got the camera for his 3rd attempt, it was a far more clumsy try. I will post the vid in a few (just uploaded to facebook, now to youtube so I can post it here). He has also become a biter overnight! That welt he left me was the start... then last night Russ put him to bed and he bit his chin. Russ took it very personal and got upset, and I told him we just have to teach him NOT to bite!! I have been googling, they say say NO BITE and put them down. Reminds me of when you train puppies not to bite. Of course he learns this a week from when he's to start daycare. People at work keep telling me daycares will kick your kid out if they're biting folks. AHH!! This link probably won't work immediately, so if you're reading this right after I posted...

Yay for friday, and let's keep up the good eating!! we can do it!!!!!!
-
I know the puppy sign is backward, but sometimes he only does one or the other, or does it in reverse order. I don't try to correct him, I'm just happy he can tell us something! HE JUST BIT ME!!! I posted a pic on FB. It now takes two--TWO hours of fighting to get him to nap from the time he acts tired to actually sleeps. So 1.5 hours in he's banging his head on my shoulder and whining, and he does 'kisses' sometimes.. I should have known he wasn't in a kissing mood, but he put his mouth on my cheek like he was doing kisses.. then BIT DOWN! It left a welt. I jerked him away from me and yelled "SHIT!" and he just burst into tears. Then I had to comfort him.. but luckily he finally fell asleep shortly after.

So here's Puppy (Which is snapping your fingers then patting your leg.. he doesn't pat his leg in his lil chair, but he did the finger snap part) And here is his latest and greatest trick hah.. he started doing this last night!

Daycare was HORRIBLE. Here's the preface, I went to a hoighty-toighty daycare first (a month or so ago). Gave me a 30m tour + Q&A, Loved it, but too expensive. So this place was in our price range.. We walked in, and it's the glass walls, and she just points to the room; which had a mix of TEN!!! kids--4 infant, 6 were under 2. That is illegal first of all. When I asked about it, she said they have another worker, but she gets off at 12.. uhm so from 12-6 they are operating illegally. Immediately we both made our minds up on that alone.. but then, the ONE person working in the room, didn't even try to pretend in front of us, she clearly hated her job. She was annoyed, tired, etc.. I guess with 10 kids you would be, but uh... that's not the environment for MY baby! 9 of the kids, 4 which were infants, all sat on a blanket, no toys, not moving, nothing.. with a pacy in the mouth. Not doing anything. Carson wouldn't even do that, and the lady is like 'they do when parents aren't around'. Babies turn into zombies when parents aren't around? Huh. Sooo I was looking up other places to check out, found an old website and assumed it's out of date, but decided to check em out anyway. They said I don't need to make an appt, just stop by whenever.. that's always good (other one makes you make an appt, although they didn't clean up the act so I don't know why). She gave me an hour long tour, the kids were WELL attended to, the staff was young and perky, she said 90% of them do have ECE, and a couple of them are certified (whatever that is, that's not a degree??). They have video monitoring every inch of the place, which is recorded, should you ever want to look back. The ratios were right... the ONLY problem I had, was a FUNKY smell. When I walked in, it was overwhelming. One of the last things she showed me was the 1+ food menu, and said today was salmon patty today (AH HA!) and was explainin how they call them something goofy to make the kids eat it, but that explained my only problem with the place. The big kicker, it's near my house, and it's CHEAPER than the bad place. ANNND I actually liked it more than the hoighty toighty place I originally liked. I can't say enough about how well I liked the staff here. Pretty no-brainer..

Aww the new picture of Ayla is darling!! I was hoping to hold off daycare till 2-3, but I obviously didn't know what I was in for!! He wants to do things, and he can't do them here. IF the daycare meets my standards (the other one totally did, if only I were a rich woman), I think he'd be happier during the day. And I'm only doing 3x a week for now, so he's still with us 2x a week at work. We do our tour today, I have my list of questions. It was almost in the 70's this weekend.. and today it's in the 30's and snow flurries tonight and tomorrow. What the heck. Oh and I don't know how many of you keep up with people on Facebook, but did you see Denise is adopting her grandson Dimitri? Such a nice grandma, I couldn't imagine!!
-
I always called my dad "dad", until I worked for him, now he's Brad..
-
Thanks for the tips Pam! I don't know what to look for, I had a friend who visited the last one with me, she was VERY thorough--she use to work there, but she just took a teaching job 3 hours from here, so I don't have her knowledge to ask the right questions!! I think it's an independence thing. he wants to go on his own, but he can't here.. not enough baby proofing to cover this place up. So it turns into whines and fits. He has started signing.. He's done it once in a blue moon, not sure if intentional.. but he's officially signing 'doggy' all the time. He points (well his whole hand goes out in a direction), then he does the puppy sign. When Cassy is up against the bed, he signs puppy over and over. So Puppy is his first 'sign' word, that I know he means it lol. He said ma-ma for a week solid (everything was ma-ma).. now for a few weeks now everything is da-da.. or da. Random babbles "da da da" or if he's happy we're giving him his snacks its 'daaaaaa', points at something and says 'da!', etc. Oh and I assume all states have this, but the last place we went said Alabama has a law on child/teacher ratio.. I think it was 3 to 1 for his age.
-
Why the day care..... well, we were going to wait till #2, but he's at an age he wants to play and do a lot all day, which I don't have time for, so it's a battle all day long of trying to work and keep him happy.. and he's old enough to socialize now. Learnin' as I go, though he'd be ok here at work for 2 years, but it looks like 1 year is the limit for keeping him happy. He hates his pen, so I have to put him behind my desk and watch him like a hawk. He wants to crawl all over, and this isn't the place to do it!!

100 calorie snacks are helping me... late at night is my worst, I want to snack and snack.. so I save up 400 calories for late night snacking, and I only have 100 calorie snacks. Yo Crunch has these new 100 calorie yogurt packs.. it's a vanilla or cheesecake yogurt, with crunchy candy bits you pour inside. Oh my.. it's 70 calories lighter than my normal yogurt and tastes better. Cheesecake one...mmmmmmmm. Says it's sweetened with Truvia, I guess I'm a fan of truvia now. Did I tell you guys I was looking into daycare for 2-3x a week? The place I checked first, was wonderful, but I couldn't afford it. Called La Petit which is about .5 miles from work, and they said they have discounted rates for companies in the area-I can afford it, but I don't know anything about them, so we're doing a tour tomorrow. They are a nationwide daycare 'chain', anyone else have experience with them or have any thoughts on them???
