High school sucks, and the best advice I can give you.. that I gave my sister who never felt like she fit in.. High School seems like the rest of your life, but it's so irrelevant. The day you graduate high school, nothing that happened there matters. Even the best of friend ships waiver, simply due to geographical relocation and never seeing each other except for the holidays (if that). It sucks now, but just remember when you get out, it won't mean crap. And statistically around here, the girls who were the bitches end up marrying the assholes and end up with 4 kids, a black eye and a trailor by time they are 21. That made my sister feel a little better.

Well, ANY chance that it was for real went away when he said the operation is a month from now. Complicated or not, if he has a hole in his stomach from the band eroding, and the tubing is into his colon.. there's no way in hell.. insurance/lawyer/doctor issues or not.. they would wait a month to operate. Not a chance. ---- And he'll post the pics, but not in the next 24 hours.. it takes time to photoshop doncha know.

Is it just my imagination or did Denise fall off the side of the earth?!

NO ICE CREAM!!!! Ketchup, not so bad. Ever notice calories in ketchup? I just noticed the other day and was PLEASANTLY surprised. Today I've had.. 6oz of "Great Start" hot chocolate 4oz of Orange Juice 1 cup of broccoli & cheese soup (omg.. yum) 2 kalamati (sp) olives.. YUM 4oz of ginger ale --- And now I am off to the gym with 16oz of water!

When you're pregnant, does the access port "stick out?"

I have thought about it, I bet his sales pitch will be.. from the propaganda he's talking about.. a week from now he will go "This is so and so's lawyer, I am now representing people who have lap band, please contact me, I can make you $$!" And it's really just that guy, who decided to try to feed people all this info about lawsuits, and how dangerous it is, etc.. and wants to try to make some quick bucks. I thought the lawsuit thing was weird, has anyone seen commercials for lap band lawsuits? I sure haven't. So silly.

Well anyone know top of head how long RnY has been around? RnY is statistically much more dangerous than lap band. They didn't pull that!

Hi, Everyone....I think I'll be the contrarian voice here...
Daisalana replied to Headhunter's topic in Rants & Raves
Kat pretty much summed up my feelings (you do that so well and so much more eloquently). But I wanted to point this out.... Now if this guy is really the 'go-to' guy for lap band mishaps, and only some portion of 600 were Lap Band repairs, that is actually a really small statistic. And that doesn't mean they were Lap Band removals. Hell, I had a Lap Band 'repair'. Just means my port sucks and I have bad luck, but it was fixed and I'm not a candidate to sue anyone over it, and I consider myself a Lap Band success. I think where you decided to post this was in extremely poor taste, any mods care to move it along to complications? I for one, never opened the complications thread until post-op. I didn't want anything psyching me out. (Edited: I see I see :crying:) ) I knew the major complications, and let it go. I couldn't spend time worrying about 'what-ifs' when my health problems were immediate. -
Hah hah, I just found it right before I came to check back here and make sure it was the same one. Ok, here's the first thing that struck me odd..... Haven't finished reading the thread, but I will likely have a foot-in-mouth response. --- Or maybe not, I think there's a hidden agenda there, and don't want to indulge.

My Good Friend, Fear
Daisalana replied to NicoleW8ing's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you :crying:) The statistics are grossly on your side. When I got nervous pre-op, I spent hours going through the B&A thread. -
I was never a big drinker to begin with, so I actually drink just as much as I use to.. very rarely. When I do drink, I avoid carbonation & beers (tastes like piss to me anyway). I normally have some froofroo drink that is laden with empty calories.. get nice and buzzy, and have some shots that I have no idea the caloric intake. Since it happens only once every 1-2 months, I don't worry about it. I wouldn't recommend drinking regularly just because of the high calories. Go google nutritional info of whatever drink you like... it's scary..

I need a link please! I heard someone else mention this and I don't know what ya'll are talking about.

I was told something like under 1,200 a day. I'll tell you though, I am 6'0 and started at 333lb. I didn't get a good fill till 6 months out, and if I just stayed under 2,500 calories for the first couple months I was losing. Then I had to go under 2,000. Now it seems to be under 1,500 for me to keep losing.. and I am able to keep it under 1,000. But starting out, without a good fill, it felt impossible, so I was happy to see 2,500 calories was able to do it for a while. You can experiment, keep a food journal and see what your weight is doing. For your size, try 1,200 or 1,000... see what happens, adjust as needed. Maybe up exercising?

I agree, it has absolutely nothing to do with my situation, but I know plenty of people who were normal BMI, and slowly but surely are creeping up. If I was in their shoes, I would love to get banded as a preventative measure. Adding to that however, all these people I know would never consider a bariatric surgery. Maybe one day they would, who knows.. but now they just keep saying they need to stick to a diet. I can't relate to them, just like they don't seem to relate to me. With the portion sizes, and fat/calories in food these days, and so few people cooking, etc.. Obesity rate in America is grossly high, which I'm sure I don't need to point out, we've all seen the studies and epidemic cries.

Despite the complaint on the new format... I do want to send a Kudo for putting a user's pic up there. Makes it very personal, and a great idea :crying:)

Wait, you guys are showering on this trip? I thought we were goin' au natural, and bathing in God's river? I got a letter from my flight info, thought it was a change in schedule, but it's a change in policy. You now have to PAY for every checked in bag, if it's over '1'. So 1 bag. Luckily, I travel light. I might have raised hell. Although, now I gotta fit your goodies in my bag, and they aren't small. Hint # 2 :crying: And Kity, you get a special one. You'll see why! :crying: I just scheduled to have my tooth pulled out, it's going to be exactly 1 week before our trip. I haven't had a tooth pulled in so long, anyone know if 1 week is enough time to be back to eatin spicy food? I want some tex mex!!

For the most part the abbreviations don't bother me.. but U and UR drive me nuts. I instantly think I'm chatting with a 10 year old, who doesn't know how to spell. FYI, IMO, BTW.. don't really care so much. Just my 2 cents, because I wanted to post.

Anyone wear skirts now but didn't before??
Daisalana replied to Christal's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hah hah thanks for that Egor :crying: My husband always goes ga-ga if I wear skirts, so I try to believe it! -
I had a minor NSV today. I bought some XL sweaters from Victoria's Secret a couple months ago, I don't know if you guys remember me being so excited about that. Well, I wore them but they were a little too tight on the boobs (not complainin). It's been warm, but the past 2 days have been cold, all my winter clothes are packed up or given away (I don't plan to wear that size next winter!!). So I was trying to find somethin warm to put on over my shirt this morning, and found one of my VS sweaters. I put it on, and it's actually.. BIG?! The boob issue was non-existant. It hangs off of me..arms and boobs were too big. An XL.. at VS!! And I only wore this one once, so I didn't stretch it out. I was looking at my blog statistics, majority of my hits come from LBT, I finally had my first hit from google-- this is what I really wanted to see, and it was no let down. It tells you what someone googled to get to your page... ready for this? "Need to pee" roflmao. Someone typed that in google and ended up on my blog. Glad you're feeling better today Kat!!

Just when you think you have it under control......
Daisalana replied to aubrie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I feel your pain. I'm not near the break room or where everyone brings in treats (I avoid it like the plague).. but most girls around here heat something up and eat in the office, so I can go all day without eating, then they heat something up and it wafts in here and my stomach starts going ballistic!! I hate it, and have no solution. I keep 100 calorie packs in my office for when I can't take it anymore, but I hate that I'm not hungry till I smell it. -
