Who are you after the weight is gone?
Daisalana replied to Boo Boo Kitty's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've been obese since I was born.. heh. Don't scur me Wheet :/ At this point I haven't identified myself as anyone different, I just finally feel my age. -
I would have done it again knowing what I know now.

Yeah I am dying from laughter at the parasailing comparison. I always wanted to try that, but can't get over the fear of heights factor. Water somehow makes my fear of heights ok, I won't ride a roller coaster but I love waterslides. And I'm confident that if any of you have any 'problems' I can save you ;o)

I had 150lbish to lose total. The hardest part I had to come to terms with, is that lap-band was not a 'quick' weight loss. They tell you that going into it, and I'm an impatient person and think.. if I'm getting surgery, I want to be skinny next week!! However, what ended up happening, is an initial quick drop, and I was into 200 lbs. That was a huge milestone for me! Just to be back in the 200's, every diet I had tried in the past 1.5 years prior, I couldn't stick with anything long enough. The lowest weight I remember being since 15 was 260lbs, when I did Atkins and lost quite a bit of weight. When I hit 250lbs, was another huge milestone, and when I officially got out of 'morbid' obesity. So it ends up, the milestones are enough celebration to keep me from obsessing about the time it's taken. I still have 50lbs to go and slowed down and anxious about it, but hitting 220's excited me all over again since I was stuck in 230's for a month or so. 210's will be the same.. and when I get to the 100's, I'll just be beside myself.

Beach towels will be super. Besides, until about 3 months ago, beach towels were the only towels that would wrap around my whole body!! Hah hah, gosh I hate being obese.
-
Just something to throw in the mix. Most of us are terrified pre-op. A large percentage of that, are ecstatic only 6 months post-op. You mentioned what if it doesn't work 10-20 years out. Well, so what? If it doesn't, remove it! The band doesn't alter your body's configuration, so if at anytime you realize or decide it's not for you, you just get it taken out.

This is the first yard I owned, so I actually gardened for the first time. I was leery since I killed any plant that ever came in my house in the past. I am fond of indoor fake plants actually, I have tons. I bought a couple more last night for my new office. Perennials is what I meant then, I never remember which is which! Let go of the plant snobness and enjoy the beauty Take pics of the outside for inquiring minds, if my faux green thumb ever fails, I may end up doing the fake ones!

Who are you after the weight is gone?

After losing 104lbs, I just feel like a 20 year old for the first time. I was crippled with back pains by time I was 20-21, so I now finally feel my age. I think that's the only way I feel different at this point! -
Nothing to do with age, but I had a flipped port that required an additional surgery. Still 100% love my band! I have gone to the ER twice since banding, first time I thought I had blood clots, but I just pulled a muscle from not taking my pain meds post-op. 2nd time was a couple weeks ago, I had sharp contraction pains. They never gave me a conclusive answer, but I am pretty confident it had nothing to do with the band. Unless, I was compacted from how little bowel movements I now have with the band. Doc that was helping me at the hospital is actually a bariatric surgeon and he didn't seem to think it had anything to do with the band, he thought I had food poisoning. And that's the extent of it, nothing I would blame the band for, or wish I hadn't done it. It's the best thing I did for me!!

It's funny, I can't understand why you're afraid of tubing!!!! Have you never done it or seen it up close to realize how nothing it is? I am trying to understand from a roller coaster perspective. You literally couldn't pay me (and people have tried) to get on one. Not happening in this life time, ever. So I understand being scared, but my reasoning isn't just.. cart crashing and I die, but the height factor. I hate being up in the air (and thus hate flying too!!). But I've never heard of someone dying from tubing!! Kayaking.. and those big paddle tubes in the Ocoee on DANGEROUS waters. But those are apples & oranges. Kayaks are made to go on ROUGH Water. And when you're in the tube, in the first pic Terry posted, it feels like nothing really, the tube just moves forward on the current! I did kayaking on the ocoee when I was like 14, and I fell out during rough waters --- see these waters, this is where people 'can' die.. not that they will, but you 'can'. http://www.ocoeeinn.com/Image/Photos/raft4.jpg http://www.americanwhitewater.org/resources/repository/smileys.jpg Etc. So when I fell out, the kayaka and paddle immediately went a million miles from me, and the current was so fast, it slammed me into a rock. For those, they teach you to go feet first (and good for me for remembering). Only time I've ever broken a bone, I broke 2 toes from the rock I slammed into. Then I went into shock when they dragged me onto shore, and there was a SNAKE! I would still do it again, it was extremely fun up until that part. But tubing is nothing nothing nothing like this!! Tubing is just floating around and chillin'

Whenever I go to buy tickets, I compare 3 or 4 different sites. The past 3 out of 3 trips, Travelocity had the best deals.. never had a problem. This last one, I booked it so far in advance, the schedule has changed already, but they are direct flights to & from, so it's not a big deal..and they did e-mail me the new flights as soon as it changed. The problem with airlines, is that they do change flights all the flippin time! I've missed flights due to delays, etc. It's part of flying, and I for one hate flying. Glad you got it worked out though )

How pretty Judy! You're right Kat about the post this time last year, hah. Well the irony is, today I find out why they want to move me again. They want to give this office to DH!!!!! I am near the IT department, and the only other office near here is either the conference room (big) or the other office they want to move me to (huge). DH has like 4-7 computers in his office at once, so it actually MAKES SENSE that he gets a bigger office for all the equipment. But their problem? It would look bad to give a huge office to a little IT guy. Just fumes me. I keep saying, he has all the equipment, it's justified, he needs the room and the ventilation. I don't! Just cause I'm in sales, doesn't mean I need a big office over the IT guy. Sigh. We got into it again this morning, but I tried to be more logical than emotional, and explain why he should have the bigger office. Regardless if they move me or him, we're going to be next door. I dunno about that. We don't see each other except for smoke breaks, I don't wanna be close enough to talk all day lol. Oh and I hurt my back. I am guessing it was from moving stuff this weekend, but my lower back is cricked, I can't even bend over to pick crap up. It hurt a little yesterday, now it hurts a lot.

Oh, I am definitely checking a bag.

I'll catch up later, just wanted to vent cause I AM PISSED OFFFFFF After moving into my new office, setting everything up, all my pics on the wall blah blah. They just called and said they think they want to move me again. WTF! I am so miffed, I said, I'd rather not, I like where I am. They want to move me to an office 3x same as my current.. which seems good except, I only have the furniture I have.. so 2/3 of office will just be empty space. And it's way in the friggin back. And I just friggin moved. I am not happy, kinda got into it with her, and she said we'll talk about it tomorrow. PLEASE let her figure something else out by tomorrow, I do not want to move again :tongue_smilie:

It may or may not have hurt anything, the purpose of the liquid diet, is so your stomach is not moving. When you eat anything (and I mean.. ANY small size of egg) your stomach pulses, think of like a heart beating. It squishes and contracts. So every teeny tiny piece of SUBSTANCE.. doritoes, eggs.. that you put in, your stomach is working. You have new stitches holding your band in place. If your stomach moves, it can rip said stitches and misplace your band. So, it would be in your best interest, to tough it out and not 'cheat'.

We had a thread about this like a year ago. My biggest issue was like ReadySteadyGo.. the ShallowHal movie, when the end, they're 'running off' and getting married or whatever the reason.. he can't carry her, so she picks him up without batting an eye. It really bugged me that fat chicks= can pick up men.

That's why I planted... annuals (right? the ones that come back?). I planted last year, and they are gargantuan right now.. overflow onto my sidewalk. And all I did was plant them, I have an.. opposite of green.. thumb. Even the little cacti I tried to keep in my office is dead.

Not a mom, don't ask how I know this... -Lots of walking. -Sex (orgasm required!) -Tweaking the nipples for a period of time, releases a hormone that thins out the cervix.

Hahahaha.. you will NOT get stuck in a tube!!! At 330lb, I was no where near filling one up. I'm glad you mentioned the shoes though, I never tubed with shoes before, but I can imagine why you'd need them if there's lots of sharp rocks.. will have to find some at wal-mart, they normally have them for cheap. I saw this article today and made me think of us!!!! More and more women are taking vacations and leaving their men behind to enjoy watching sports and drinking beer in their underwear all by their lonesome selves. The Coloradoan - www.coloradoan.com - Ft. Collins, CO.

I knew some people who used them, and I honestly didn't know till they told me. They still planted them, mulch, etc.. so unless I touched them (or actually they just told me), I wouldn't have known. I think as long as you get good quality, and the kind that could withstand weather!

have any of my age 20-something bandsters tried ali?
Daisalana replied to marineliebe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yeah, energy drinks taste like nasty crap to me. I tried red bull once, tasted like a perfume would taste (you know you've tried it!!). So if that's all they do, I'm content with my pills. I also take Stacker 2 from the gas station. It's a crap load of caffeine, gives me the same effect. Oddly enough though, coffee doesn't do a thing for me. So I guess these pills are like me drinking cofffee. I don't hit highs & lows with them... I take one (or two) in the morning and I'm good all day. The bottles say take 2-3x a day, but if I took these things more than once, I would never go to sleep. -
Yeah I'm with you, working out and not eating more than 1,200 calories a day and no weight loss, it's pretty depressing. Normally if I'm not losing, I can blame me and know how to fix it. Now I don't know what to do about it, except get upset! I moved into my new office, me likey. I'll take some phone pics in a bit, people keep stopping by to check it out.

I am hoping it's just messed up right now, but the weird formatting, is really hard to browse.. please don't keep it like this :rolleyes2:

Getting out & joining a group is the best idea. I don't know about mommy groups personally, but that sounds like a good place to start! I moved around a lot right out of high school, but I joined bowling leagues everywhere I went, and always made good friends from it.
