Until this season, I always watched the funny first auditions, then tuned in for the last 3 weeks to see who won. Has it always been this way? I thought they gave them a theme like.. "60's" and they got to pick 60's songs. Have they always done a whole week of a certain artist? Dolly Parton, ALW, Neil Diamond, etc? I think it sucks honestly, we're not getting to see them shine, we're getting to see them mildly adapt to being made to sing songs.

My insurance had an exclusion, so being that I was self-pay they let me rush right in. At the seminar, I said "I'm ready, let's do it!" and they scheduled me I think less than a month out.

Didn't read the posts, but just from the title..... I didn't know people were afraid of atheism?!

Jason was one of my favs, he's so cute, and for a couple weeks he sang songs that are 'weird' that I always liked.. the Rufus Wainwright Hallalujah, the Isam (sp)'s version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow, etc. But I gotta admit, I have fast forwarded through him for a couple weeks now  I'm not all gung ho about anyone after this week. I didn't like any of them. I think it's this set artist theme crap. I don't want to hear 10 Neil Diamond songs. I want them to pick stuff they want to do!!

Sophie have you gone to the support group meeting in Birmingham? I live in Huntsville, so it's too far a drive to me, but I have heard the hospital there has a good bander's group. It may help you get back into the swing of things or at the very least get some insight.

You know Kat, you're not on this list either!! I got this list from someone, I thought it was you.. maybe it was Terry.. then I added Pam to it. Doh! What was your start?

Jane- I created the document with info on March 27

Oh I see. Have you looked at calories in pop tarts?! I never liked them that much to begin with, but if DH bought them I would eat a 2-pack if nothing else to eat. 800+ calories in ONE pack!! INSANE!! I haven't touched them since bein banded out of principle. I could eat 4 blueberry muffins for that much calories. Anyway, not lecturing, just pointing out in case you didn't know! And I vote YES for the table, it's very cute!

The withdrawals scared me the most, the way I understood it, was that you over-register by 2 classes and within the first 2 weeks you decide which 2 to drop. I did that for 3 semesters till I had an interview with a marketing company. They wanted to know why I withdrew every semester, if I am a quitter, etc. Luckily I had straight A's in everything up to that point, so I was able to explain without sounding like a liar!! The 2nd time was for another marketing company and they did the same thing, but by this time I had a C from a Spanish class (stupid foreign languages!!), and they didn't like that. Luckily, I've had this job for a few years and I'm not going anywhere. So, "technically" for me my transcript doesn't mean a hill of Beans, but since I busted my butt on these papers, and I've taken enough of these classes to know when I write an A paper or if I wrote a half-ass paper.. I know I deserved A's. It's shitty of teachers to believe A means perfect, therefore you can't have them. One more thing to point out, it didn't apply to me, but what about people trying to get scholarships?

Judy - What is Bobster's weight today? He was on our list. I also need Haydee, and Terry!
-
Hey Jane, your name isn't on the list I have  What was your starting weight? Oh BTW out of 3 stats I have, Michelle is winning!
-
Tracy- Just FYI you are NOT the same weight, you lost 2.7lb  See, we're just in denial. If you guys PM me your weight today I'll plug it in and figure the numbers (or post it on here, I'll get it that way too).

Woohoo Terry!! I just landed a big graphic design job! I took graphic art classes, and I do my SecondLife clothing design, and every once in a while, the smaller record labels need graphic design, so I've done that. Today the City came in and want a brochure designed, so I quoted it for em. Woot. $$$. Woot. Gonna be the biggest undertaking I've done, kind of nervous & excited at the same time. Been working on the contract for it.

I made some delicious fall off the bone porkchops in the crockpot not too long ago. It says to fry them first to brown, but after being in the crockpot all day it ended up being a waste, so I would skip this part. Put it in the bottom of the crockpot, cover with sliced onions, and then mix a can of cream of mushroom soup with 1c of milk or water, pour it over the top. Cook on low for 8 hours. I had bone in, and they literally fell off the bone so had to spend a while fishing out bones, would probably be better with the boneless version.

Unusual question - not sure where it goes
Daisalana replied to Chaucer's Wench's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Do you have any family or friends nearby that you can call on to help you if a situation arises? -
Have you completey lost interest in foods?
Daisalana replied to Brandy~'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Brandy, it will change.. I remember the first couple of weeks I had no desire to eat, so the beginning diets were a breeze. Then the swelling goes away and you're in 'bandster hell'.. the time period between surgery swelling going down & your first fill. Hungry and wanting to eat everything in sight, and likely won't even feel like you have a band! I am kind of back there with good restriction. Eating is a PITA, so I don't look forward to it like I once did. And I don't get excited over most foods, like I use to. It's just food now. -
I lost approx. 104lb by my 1 year anniversary.. and I did not start really exercising until about 1 week before my 1 year anniversary.

Just saw this response, and had to point out. Grades DO matter in college. I guess, it depends on where you work. I have been interviewed at 2 places that required a TRANSCRIPT of your college, and they ask you why you have withdrawals, why you made certain grades, etc. And if you see post above, I have deserved an A on at least 3 of my papers, and never got higher than an 86. And I don't appreciate a professor who is too power hungry to assign adequate grading. If I deserve an A, I deserve it. Not a single person in this class made an A on any of the essays, and I have read several essays during peer reviews, and I am not the only person who deserved an A on several occasions.
-
Just an update, I told you before she has ambiguous grading info. Well, my last paper I got back (final paper), it says "This is a great solid essay, transitions are well written, and you used good supportive citing". My grade? 86. Final class grade? B. Every single essay was an 80 something. Idiot power-stricken people. If I was still doing straight A's I would fight it, but I know I made a B in my Spanish II class.

Unusual question - not sure where it goes
Daisalana replied to Chaucer's Wench's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My doc made me wait 6 weeks, and I don't think it will slip your band, but, can pull stitches which could lead to a slip or pull stitches in your port and make it come unattached... and this is speculation, but my port was flipped early on so I had to have another surgery.. and I was cleaning my house 1 week post op and I shouldn't have been. I was bending over, etc. I can't help but wonder if that was part of it. I thought I was taking it easy, but hindsight is 20/20. -
As for not having a treadmill, go walk around the hotel a few times, walk up their stairs for a while, etc. And for food, just make a conscious choice to eat 'better'. No need to get bummed, this doesn't have to be a bad thing for a bandster.

I saw Anwyr Robinson last night! Ya'll remember him from last season? The long dreads, perfect smile, music teacher? He was in this musicla I went to (RENT) last night. Kind of neat.
