Hey girls, busy with work and school atm, but just got a call from my dad & had to share!! He's playing the World Series of Poker in Vegas right now, Sunday was day 1, he made it through.. day 2 started today.. He's KICKIN' BOOTAY!!!!! They wrote an article about him (my mom wasn't too keen on the headline!) He said after this hand a lot of reporters ran up and were takin pics, so we're trying to find where the pics end up. "Ladies Love Johnson"

Who or what did you do this for????
Daisalana replied to NANAbanded's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I did it for me, for 2 main reasons. I was in 26/28 and they were getting to be too small. I didn't know where you even shop for clothes after that.. and had visions of moomoos in my head.. terrifying for a 21 year old  Other main reason is I was crippled from lower back/leg pains, I couldn't walk from the parking lot to the grocery store without crying from the pain. Much less actually shop! Again, at only 21.. Had to do something!! I have no will power with diets. There were a lot of mini-reasons that add to it, but the top 2 reasons were the reason I had urgency to get it. I couldn't keep goign on like that. I also want to be able to get pregnant, and have a healthy pregnancy.. want to be able to wear not-plus-size clothes, etc. -
Huntsville Alabama ????
Daisalana replied to band-from-BBQ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Exactly.. they charged me $250 to bring in the form they had me fill out at home... then sent me away. Then told me to bring $300 next week for something, then never answered their phones. -
Huntsville Alabama ????
Daisalana replied to band-from-BBQ's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is just my 2 cents, but I had my first consult with Dr. Faccundus.. I felt like they ran their office like a money warehouse. They demanded money and then didn't have the decency to even be polite to me, then rushed me out the door without even meeting him...then told me to bring another couple hundred to another meeting. I tried calling them, and for 4 days in a row it goes to voicemail and no one would call me back. I passed on them. I live in Madison/Work in Huntsville.. it would have been a lot nicer. I did end up in the Huntsville ER at some point and the clinic called in Dr. Malipur (he is somewhere around here, I assume Huntsville) since I was banded and they wanted someone experienced with bands in case I needed an operation (they thought I had a ruptured pancreas). My experience with him was decent enough, I liked him. Although, my band doctor is Dr. Freeman in Anniston, AL.. most personable guy I ever met, I love him to death and glad I went with him. I am always welcome, they always talk to me on the phone, none of this voicemail and never returns the call, etc. It's worth the trip down there for my follow ups. -
I don't notice a difference. As of the beginning of this year, I'm finally not 'that person' who spills out.. and so now I became the person 'spilled on'. The last flight I had to NY & Back, one of them I was middle seat and both people on either side spilled onto my seat. I was pretty miserable, but I could sympathize. Another flight the guy was blatantly taking up 1/2 my seat (I was on the window, he was on the aisle) and he sprawled out, didn't even care about how uncomfortable he made me (I had to hug the window).. and the airlines didn't seem to care. This was only a month ago, so I don't think they are real strict. Even in my big big days, I was never told I had to get another seat or move.. I was just mortified for not fitting.

POOL was my guess too!! Doh  Poopy pants Judy!!

Yup, it said that too! Again, just amazes me, never realized it was a viable quantity of water that can kill you. Now I wonder what it actually takes to die from chocolate poisoning! I always assumed it would be like a football field worth of chocolate

((Kat)) How scary, hope it all dies down  Yes I was on yesterday but I just read the posts here, didn't have anything to say yet.. I had lots to say and not enough time to post it, so I wanted to come back to it. We won big on day 1. My mom hit $5,000 on a $2 bet!!!!!! Then I hit the exact same thing, but out of a bonus round and won $1,200. Then we gave a lot back.. doh! I think she still came home a winner, I came home with $50. Oh well, had lots of fun!! Anniversary was pretty good, I was SO tired from driving back and little sleep. I came straight to work, when we got off work took a shower and he took me to a fancy steak house downtown everyone at work raves about. BOO. They were fancy and staff was great, but the food SUCKED!!! I mean really, I couldn't decide on what I wanted.. so I got a mixed grill, small piece of filet mignon, small order of stuffed chicken breast, and a crab cake. Crab tasted rotten, I had a hard time making myself swallow the bite I tried, I wanted to spit it out! The chicken and steak had absolutely no flavor whatsoever. Then the veggies we got were so bland, I was shocked. So.. we're never going there again.. $200 crappy meal! But our wedding cake.. OMG!!! It was as amazing as the day we got it. His friend's mom told us how to wrap it up, so I had my fingers crossed. It tasted fresh, not like it's been in a freezer for a year. Is soooo good. We forgot what filling we had picked for that tier, so it was a pleasant surprise.. caramel buttercream. And lucky for me, DH is starting back on the low-carb diet again today (he did it this weekend.. I made him break it to eat a piece of cake). I got a whole cake top to eat this week.. I passed out shortly after all that, and slept great (with no sleep aids!). Woke up with my right nostril completely clogged, blew my nose and its gunky stuff. I think I'm getting sick So I did my Zicam swipe. I didn't give Russell the cookie bouquet since he's low-carbing it.. it's in a box in the closet. He got me movie tickets and he's going to custom frame our wedding certificate. I guess that's it!

Yeah after reading that article I was looking up how that happens. A girl died from ecstasy (or they thought), but it ended up she was drinking a lot of water and she poisoned herself with too much water. I think they said she drank 4 liters in 2 hours. And then ecstasy has something in it that inhibits using the restroom. Very bizarre, and 8 litres doesn't sound like THAT much to me, it's still plausible. I was thinking you'd have to drink the size of a swimming pool to do something like poison yourself with water.

Desperate...anyone have good dog training advice?
Daisalana replied to *susan*'s topic in The Lounge
Tiff (& Jack)- You're right, my dog knows *I* am the alpha dog, she does not do anything without my approval.. and I used the gentle leader for a couple of weeks. It corrected more bad behavior, but the jumping was a big one for me because I hate when people's dogs jump on me and I don't want mine being that dog. She did flip out when she first had it on, but I also remember at 6 weeks old she freaked out with a normal collar & leash on. The trainer kept feeding her treats to distract her from the leader and it didn't take long before she was use to it. Some dominant things I read to try, and do (may or may not help, but I am the dominant one so who knows)...I make her lay quietly and watch tv, she is not allowed on furniture, and especially never let them in bed with you! Sometimes when you feed them, put your hand all over the bowl and act like you're taking it.. they should not protest. -
OMG Michelle I see you in your kids!! I am running behind, gotta clean pack and get to bed to be up at 4am to go to TUNICA!!! But real quick, Terry I hope your eyes don't hurt as much as it looks! I can't wait to see a B&A of this because frankly I didn't see much they could do, it didn't look bad!!! Denise they are adorable!!!! I love the bath pic <3 Janie & Suzie, hope you're both in better spirits today! Happy 4th EVERYONE!! Hope zou're rockin' it in Germanz Pam! Tracys, much lovin to yall! Whew, I know I keep rambling but I have so much to say hahaha.. or ramble about, whateva! At work, I told ya the production is being real half-ass lately, it's because they have job security, we have been running ads for new pressmen for ever, and I just found out the reason we don't hire anyone is because the manager is afraid to lose his position if he hires these people who are better than him. Oh. My. !@#$%!!!! So anyway, lots of drama here today, didn't end up better, just worse and more chaos. THANK GOD FOR 3 DAY WEEKENDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, the dermatologist gave me an antibiotic for my thing that's not clearing up, so I just started it an hour or so ago. Says it makes you not hungry, and she gave me the high dose version.. sure as heck works, I got a tiramasu (shh) from lunch and it's been on my desk, on our way back I couldn't wait to eat it, then got distracted with work drama for an hour or so, now I'm back and I do not care to eat it. HUH?! I can always eat some tiramasu. I found my new miracle drug roflmao. I have to take it for 3 weeks, lets see how skinny I can get!!

my band has a LEAK and has to be replaced... anyone else??
Daisalana replied to youknowit's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry this is happening, but I do have some good news about Allergan.. My doc said he couldn't get them to help out, my doc was unsure what happened with my band-- I was self pay-- and I had to pay an extra 2k to have revision surgery.. Ends up it was a flipped port, but.. Before we found all this out, I went to Allergan's website, and wrote a haughty e-mail. I was fuming that their product messed up and they wouldn't get back to my doctor, while I'm out about 20k. So anyway, within the week, I got a phone call from a guy (I wish I kept this info so I could pass it on!!) who works there, very nice, he went through my complication with me, how the band is or isn't working, and said he would send out a kit that day priority overnight to my doctor, so they could send in the 'broken' piece and they would examine it and issue a refund on the 2nd band I'd have to buy. Ends up during my surgery, it was a flipped port, no defect, but the Allergan guy gave me his personal office contact, e-mail, etc.. and he followed up with me afterward to find out how it went, etc. I was EXTREMELY Impressed, I had so many bad ideas in my head about how they probably don't care, I'm just a paycheck, but pleasantly I was very mistaken. Try calling their # if it's on the website, otherwise write them an e-mail from the website and make sure to leave your info. Edit to add, their website may be under Inamed. I remember when I looked for it, all I found was a generic medical website that sold a lot of products, and I don't think I even saw the band on there, or it was an afterthought. I just went to their contact info. -
Hmm that's interesting, never heard that!! I've been on BC since I was 14.. so 10 months???? FUN! Russell said he wants to do the diet I lost weight on a while ago that my mom is now doing.. Atkins. So we spent lunch going over yeses and nos. He said "I can have meat, celery and salt.. I don't need anything else". It must be nice to be so naive. Wait till the carb cravings kick in!! Or you get bored with the same thing over and over..

LOL Suzie!! Probably not.. my gyno said a month at least after being on b/c.. my dermatologist said typically it takes 6 months being off b/c.. and that's if all my lady parts are in working order, and the gyno questions that. I am in a quandry (is that how it's spelled?!). Russell is all gung-ho about dieting, he starts Saturday after July 4th. I got him a cookie bouquet for our anniversary on Monday. That's mean, I give him a bunch of cookies right after he starts dieting?
-
Oh oh forgot to tell ya'll about Russell last night. I swear this man would be lost without me! Though I think it's an act most the time so he can be lazy.. On our way home from weekly Cracker Barrell he goes "Friday you're going to have to write down foods I can eat". (Me: Blank Stare.."HUH?") And he goes "I am NOT buying new pants, it's a waste of money blah blah". And I'm going "What the hell are you talking about" And he says he wants to diet. He's gained quite a bit of weight and he went from size 30/32 waist when I met him, to a 36 right now and he doesn't fit in those anymore either. His reasoning is because we can't afford to buy new pants (which is silly, but I think he wants to stick to that excuse), I know dieting was always a sore subject for me, and since I've never seen him diet, I wasn't quite sure what to say... Except, "Ok, I'll make you a list.." and he said "I'll stop eating sugar" and I said "That would probably do it, just cut out sugars for a while." But he wants a diet. Good lord, how am I going to decide on a diet for him??? He probably has 30lbs to lose. I have been thinking of all the diets I've done, Atkins worked best for me.. but eh. I'm going to be googling. Despite all my dieting, I worried about diets for people 150lb+ overweight.. not someone who just needs to lose 30lbsish.

Suzie me too!! I was reading Pam's post with a German accent roflmao!! Pam glad you're having fun!!! Although, I don't know how I missed it because I read all the posts now I did not know you were going to Germany. What are you there for? Are you going to see Auschwitz while you're there? I'm a weirdo, I am dying to go to Germany and see the camps. Pay some respect and all. Great news Tracy! And glad you got your going away party you were worried about.. good to feel appreciated? Booo Judy!!!! No really, I don't fight about politics. If I had an oppertunity to ride on a float, even if it was an evil demmy float.. I'd probably do it, especially if you were there

Aw come on Suzie, Vicodin spose to make you happy happy )
-
Suzie, go get Zicam swabs right now!! Swab your nose!! I swear to goodness they are miracle workers. Everytime I feel a cold coming on, I swipe, and it's gone the next day!! I just had a sore throat (the knot that starts when you get sick) coming on last week and swiped, and BAM it was gone. The huge hole is going to be a SWIMMING POOL, so you get no sympathy for that!!!! Enjoy the food, but watch your portions. And HUGS to you! Life isn't as bad as you think.. I mean you just said a hole in your backyard was bad.. that means you're closer to a swimming pool than you were!!
-
He normally wants it more, I like it but I don't ever just 'want it' on my own when I'm on B/C. Now, I've been instigating 2-3x a day.. EEK. I actually can't get enough.. hehe I'm a rabbit right now. He seems a little surprised. Maybe it also had to do with him growing his hair back out for me again, it's pretty long now.. I loves it. RIGHT NOW?! I wish mwahaha. 17 minutes till work is over, but I get to hang around till we go to bowling.
-
Aw, I dunno then! I have some people I keep inviting to lunch and keep getting blown off. I take it in stride I guess! Judy I can't wait to get home tonight to see your pics!! Michelle (and maybe Judy!) cover your ears. Ya'll since I am off b/c my sex drive miraculously woke back up. It's crazy!! I noticed this everytime I had to go off of b/c for whatever reason, and I think I told ya'll I asked my gyno about the lack of drive when I'm on b/c and she basically told me "too bad". I wanna pop out the chillens, and then have Russell get fixed.. I don't wanna be on BC anymore. I enjoy things much better off.. now I know why it's BC..
-
I don't know if this is her problem Haydee, but for me personally I am always wishy washy with plans.. not because I'd have something better to do, but when I get home, I do NOT want to go back out.. and I know this in advance. I want to go home, put on my PJ's and chill out so I can get up tomorrow morning and do it all over again. No reflection on my friends, I just hate the idea of going out after hours. Some friends who want to go out to drink or something, I just give them a "we'll see" which leaves me open to backing out if I'm tired that day. If they said they want to get together, and I say "Come over to my house" I can 100% commit to it.. otherwise I don't know. I am too tired to go out!!!! Although with lunch requests "Let's do lunch!" I always give a solid YES. hehe. I rarely take lunches, so if someone actually wants to go out, I can schedule it and I'm there.

I'll jump onPaula Dean, anytime I watched her show I felt my arteries clogging. It's not about being healthy, cooking shows don't have to be healthy, not everyone eats healthy. But my god, I never knew you could put mayo in everything & deep fry it. RR, I never watched her talk show, I watched 30 minute meals or something she has every once in a while. The ones I watch are always red-sauced base (which I hate) so I never watch for the recipes, but I know she always offers healthy alternatives .. I like her little anticdotes she talks about, and when she talks about her dad it cracks me up.. anyway.. Oprah.. don't like, she always looks annoyed with people on her show, which is rude!
