I Haven't Lost Weight On The 6 Month Pre-Op Diet Will Ins Still Pay?
suepeeps replied to Kate27's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to meet for 6 months with the NUT but was not required to lose weight. THey mostly wanted me to develop new habits and lose a little. I lost close to 10 pounds by the end but that isn't much for 6 months. -
Are you Greenfamily004? I couldn't find 007 so I added 004

MFP is awesome! It calculates everything for you. I do it on my phone or my computer. Easy to show my NUT when I meet with her too. I am suepeeps on MFP

Things I Miss ---But No Longer Can Tolerate.

I loved guacamole before. I did not like it at all when I tried it. I hope that comes back. I love it! I tried it on my beans. oh well.. Not hungry for much other than protein anyway. -
I made stuffed shells for my husband. I had one of them and gave the shell to the dog. It was SO good! It had ricotta, sausage, hamburger, and Italian cheese with marinara sauce. So tasty after weeks of bland. My NUT said I could have any Protein blended. Add spaghetti sauce or piazza sauce for flavor. Just a little bit is great!

I use a coffee cup warmer or candle warmer to keep it warm sometimes.

you are not alone. We all felt this at one time or another. I am now 1 month out and it has been easier than I thought it would be. Think positive and think of what your life will be like when you lose all that weight!!!

They have 20 carbs in them.

It gets easier every day. Hang in there!

lol. My husband has lost 10. Before I went on my pre op diet I did a bunch of cooking and put everything in single serving containers for him. The portion control was huge for him As he saw me not eating as much he chose to eat carrots, celery etc.. with his lunch instead of pop tarts! Now when I donate clothes I can donate his too I bet!! No eating out for us either!

When I first started looking into WLS I was pretty sure I wanted the lap band. After the informational meeting the nurse was visiting with us. She had a bypass 10 yrs ago and lost 200 pounds. We asked if she were to do it today which surgery would she have. She said definately the sleeve. I asked another bariatric nurse who told me she would be having the surgery as soon as she had her baby. She said hands down it would be the sleeve. These nurses work with WLS patients every day and those words spoke volumes to me. The more I researched it I saw many people who had success at first with the band and then either quit losing or had problems. I am SO happy I decided on the sleeve. I am 1 month out and NO regrets! I had no complications and am feeling great. Best thing I ever did for myself. I am looking forward to a much healthier life with my sleeve

I am 4 weeks out and down 18 pounds from surgery day. I lost 10 on the pre op diet. Feeling great and able to do almost anything! looking forward to a little more energy. I started b12 today so hopefully that will help! I try to walk every day. I picked up some new Yoga DVD's this week for when it gets too cold out. I also have a treadmill for the winter too:) Luckily they took out my gall bladder when they did my surgery. Keep up the great work!!

There are a lot of great ideas on here to spice up your protein shakes. It makes them so much easier to drink! Good luck. -
Yes! It is fantastic. I use it in my protein shakes. Not only does it taste great, it adds a lot of protein.

I have BCBS. I had to do the 6 months with the NUT. As soon as I finished with that they turned in the paperwork and 1 week later I was approved! I thought it would take a lot longer. Was not happy about the 6 months but after doing it... I am so happy I did! It really made a difference.

I lightly pureed it. It wasn't too bad. I am sure it would have been better just as the soup but it was still good! Lots of flavor!! After not having much flavor for the last month it sure was good!!!
-
congrats! I just made taco soup and it was great. I had to puree mine but it was still so flavorful!!! I posted the recipe too. Lots of protein in it.

After Surgery Pain
suepeeps replied to ladyofdamage's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I only had a little pain in the hospital. I would say it was about 6 at the worst. They would give me pain meds to take care of it and it was never a problem. I was so pleased with how well things went. It was much easier than I thought it would be. I walked into the hospital with a positive attitude and that was a huge help! I am 3 weeks out and feeling GREAT!! -
It took me a long time to lose the fluid and gas weight from being in the hospital. Never fear... the weight will come off with the calories you are eating! I am 2 1/2 weeks out and have not lost anything for 5 days. I think I am going to quit weighing myself so often so when I do step on the scale it is significant!! I was thinking once a week. I hope I can stick to that!
