    Funny Yet Sad :)

When I first told my family my brother got upset. He thinks it is cheating. (he was drunk) He is very opinionated and of course his way is always the RIGHT way. We argued for a while. He said I really need to research this... REALLY??? did he think I would just one day wake up and say WOW I think I will go sign up for surgery without researching anything?? He wanted me to watch Biggest Loser for 1 season. HA. I told him I wanted him to watch Intervention for 1 season too We finally ended the conversation by me saying I would be more than happy to discuss this with him again sometime when he is sober. He has not brought it up again. Everyone else in my family is very supportive! I have told most of my friends too and they are also supportive. I am a very positive person and presented it in a very positive way to everyone too. 2 days from now I will be sleeved!!! woohoo . I can't wait

I say splurge and show off your accomplishments!! Try a thrift store if you can. They often have many great things! Good luck
  8. wow 14 days of clear liquids?? Yay for you for mostly sticking to it! No protein would be hard pre op! I only have to do 9 days of liquid ( protein shakes etc..) and 1 day of clear liquid pre op. You certainly impressed me!!! Sue
  9. My Dr told me that one of the reasons for the pre op is to shrink the liver and area around the stomach for surgery day. They need all the room they can get

    Pre Op Day 6

I did weigh myself. I lost 4 pounds the first day (fluid I am sure) and then stalled out for a couple of days. I was down 5 last time I checked. Such a good feeling!!

    Pre Op Day 6

I am on day 6 of my liquid diet. Tonight my husband heated up something that smelled great and it didn't even bother me! I had some Jello while he ate his dinner. While I still miss the chewing, I am not craving other foods. I almost feel like they might upset my stomach at this point. I just thought I would share this for those of you starting the pre op diet. I just keep a positive attitude every day and love watching the scale drop down. Getting a jump start on losing before the surgery has been great!!! Good luck to everyone on their pre op:) Sue
  15. Hang in there! It does get a bit easier. Doctor up your protein drinks a bit with SF syrups, powdered peanut butter etc... Variety is what makes a difference for me. The end of the day today is 1/2 way through my pre op diet. WOOHOO. I can do this. So thankful for all of the support here!

    Protein Shake Ideas

great info in this thread! One of my favorite shakes is a choc Protein mix, PB2 (powdered peanut butter) and SF caramel coffee syrup. My other fav is vanilla shake with a tiny bit of pistacio pudding (dry) added. YUMMY I am still pre-op. I am sure my tastes will change after surgery.
  17. Starting day 5 of my liquid diet today. It has been much easier than I thought! I doctor up my Protein shakes a bit and they are wonderful! I added PB2 (powdered peanut butter) and SF caramel syrup (for coffee) to my chocolate. WOW it is fabulous! I also added a bit of pistacio pudding to my vanilla shake. YUMMY. Had to chew some SF gum just to chew! My liquid diet is 10 days so I am almost 1/2 way there woohoo
  18. I am on day 3 of the liquid diet. It is much easier than I thought it would be! The sweet gets old so chicken broth helps with that Just think of the weight you will lose before you even have the surgery!! Good luck. So glad we have this forum for support!
  19. I am still pre op and love to see stuff like this!! Congrats. YOu look fantastic!!

    Late Period

I have a friend that had wls 8 years ago. She is 46 now. She didn't get her period at all anymore after her surgery:) She was very happy about that! I am still pre op so I can't help. I am almost to the stage of not getting it anymore so i am hopeful I will not get it again!!

    Scheduled Dates For Sept

Started my liquid diet yesterday and it was much easier than I thought it would be! I will try to keep the positive attitude throughout the 10 days. So happy that the scale will now be moving in a downward direction....
  22. My insurance required me to meet with her for 6 months. I thought it would take forever but it flew by! She helped me start some new habits and I feel it was very helpful! We talked about chewing food to applesauce consistancy, portion control, smaller utensils, exercise, only drinking Snacks and eating meals etc... We would set goals each month. Good luck
  23. I debated between the band and sleeve too. Many of the reasons I decided on the sleeve have already been listed here but one of the huge reasons was that I talked to the nurse during one of my appts. She was pregnant and going to have surgery after the baby was born. I asked if she minded telling me which one she was doing and she said "hands down the sleeve". Another nurse there also said the same thing. She had the RNY 15 years ago and if she were to do it now she would do the sleeve. They work with patients every day with all 3 types of surgery and those words spoke volumes to me!

    Never Trust A Fart!

Loving this thread! I am pre-op but have heard from friends to never trust a fart! I started my liquid diet today so it was good to read I should be cautious now too!! great way to start my day with a few giggles!! I am sure I will have to be cautious when giggling later on....
  25. I start my liquid diet tomorrow. I am really looking forward to it as food has been a bit of a party lately. I keep thinking.... Oh, I can't eat this for a long time??? I better eat it now!! It will be nice not to have to think about food for a while. I feel so bloated I think I will feel better. Oh sure, I say that now but we'll see how I feel after a few days of liquid diet!!! Good luck! Sue
