My Dr also does not allow carbonation. I used to drink only Dt.Mt Dew and since surgery I don't even miss it. Matter of fact, I prefer plain water now.

Congratulations! Sounds like you are experiencing all the normal feelings. I had hernia repair too. Dr. told me that the swelling from that and LB last for first 48hrs and he was right. Everyday that goes by, you'll feel better and better. Try to walk as much as possible, it's one of the only things that helps. Hang in there and follow Dr. orders!

You are right about if the band doesn't work, you can go to sleeve, but can't go the other way! That's why I choose the band to keep all my parts in tact and if the band doesn't work, we'll reconsider. I wanted to start with the least invasive first. I suggest you research them both until you are comfortable with your decision. It's your choice!

I'm not a Dr. but I would imagine unless you're still aggravated and swollen from your issue's, with your band being open more seems like carry on as always. If your issue's were really aggravating I would stick with liquids until you reach Dr. tomorrow.

My staff is just like aj's. Most of staff has had Gastric bypass or LB. I'd like to give The Bariatric Center of Sarasota Memorial Hospital a shout out! They want their patients to succeed and my Dr who I love &adore does not coddle. I wonder about some banders too. Is it get the band and you're on your own? I hope ppl come on here and honestly tell us. Great post Floridays!

Hang in there, you're in "bandster hell". sorry to say, but it could take a few fills to get you out. Hold on! -
Thanks for the reminder on whose leading the way! The best to you!

I'm on my phone so I can't see where you are post op, but you should always be able to keep your water down. Give your Dr a call and discuss this with them. You have to worry about dehydration.

First 48 hrs is the roughest b/c of swelling. Every new day gets better & better. Walk as much as possible, it truly does help. Best wishes!

How Long Did It Take You?
Maddysgram replied to Dobiegh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
6 1/2 mths for me. Cooper gave you the best advice. Don't rush in. There is a lot to learn about the Lap Band. It's not a quick fix to obesity. It takes a lot of work on your part. It took me every bit of that 6 mths to learn everything I needed to learn to be successful. A lot of ppl have this surgery and go on eating like they used too and expect the band to help them lose weight, it don't work that way. I know this is more than you asked for, but I want you to succeed! Best wishes! -

I was wondering the same thing. Maybe send her a PM. -
There was a post just like this a few months back and all the hospital handled it differently (like everything else) Some got a mesh disposable pad, some just had a pad put under them . This is very normal & common, don't fret over it! If I miss you before Friday, thought& prayers for a speedy recovery!

PS. not "anything you want", anything healthy. I liked chili and taco soup.

I had my 6wks Monday with first fill, no numbing, Dr had me lay down and raise my feet up and he just felt around a little stick and it was done. I lost 36 lbs and my Dr was very pleased. He said "I know it was all you that lost the weight, not the band, but I promise you after enough fills , the band will take over". 35 lbs averages out to 5 lbs a week, what does your Dr. expect? Go with the same mushies as before, anything you want blenderize it! You've done very well, keep it up!
-
My Dr told me on average between 4cc & 7.5cc. He put 3cc in. There are some ppl who don't need fills. I'm not one of them.
-
You need to just worry about healing right now. When I went for my first fill Monday my Dr said " I know the weight you loss was all you, as soon as we get enough fills the band will help you a lot". You're in what they call "bandster hell", you can eat as much as you used to, but you shouldn't. Just hang in there until you get some fills. I was 6 wks out for my first fill! Are you eating enough Protein, that is what's going to keep you satisfied? Worse comes to worse call your Dr. and tell him you need another plan, maybe he'll allow you to add something to your diet.
