I take that same capsule every morning and I always drink hot tea or SF hot chocolate before trying to swallow anything. No problems doing it that way.

With all WLS they're still just a tool and success depends on you. My sis had gastric bypass lost a lot fast, but didn't work on her head hunger and ended up gaining it all back. I chose LB b/c it's less invasive. I want to keep my parts the way God put them.lol There are ppl here who have LB with plication and doing really well, but a lot of insurance co. won't pay for it yet. It is your decision. Like Lassie said, do your research and stick to what you want. Good Luck!

I really like my surgeon and never had any trouble, but I have heard other patients of his say he will yell at you if you don't follow his instructions.

You're doing everything you can. Walking is the best. I promise it won't last too much longer.

Whatever you did to lose the 49 lbs do that, seem to work .

Thanks Lap Band Friends I Love You!!
Maddysgram replied to shrcumm's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry to hear you're going through this. No one to fill in for your Dr?, Jan 20th seems too long to suffer. Thoughts & prayers with you, like CG said, don't get dehydrated. Take care GF! -
Lapband failure / waste of time and money
Maddysgram replied to tmurphy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
That's always an option. Maybe first try a slight unfill and see if things improve. -
Lapband failure / waste of time and money
Maddysgram replied to tmurphy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This sounds like a stuck episode. A lot of banded ppl can no longer eat pasta. Has your Dr ordered a GI xray to confirm a slip or erosion, if not I would insist on one. I have a granddaughter with many severe medical issues and one thing I've learned through her is, you are your best advocate. Make them answer your questions and prove what they're saying to be true. -
55 lbs in 4mths is right on target. I start with my protein first at any meal, keeps you full longer and I don't eat many carbs, unless they're good carbs. Maybe time to talk with Nut. But you are doing well.

Lapband failure / waste of time and money
Maddysgram replied to tmurphy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry you're having so much trouble with your band.Seems like you're either too tight or eating too big a bite or too fast. I wish you all the best. Right now, I'm very happy with my band. Everytime I pull something out of my cliset, it's already baggy. I haven't puked yet, but be sure if I do, will either get an unfill or re examine my eating habits Wishing you a more comfortable life! -
Thoughts & prayers for speedy recovery and successful journey!

wishing you the best of luck on your LB journey! My sister had a gastric bypass and also lost a lot of weight and then gained it back and became an alcoholic. I'm so worried about her. I asked my Dr if he would band her and he said no b/c she didn't have her head into it. I think she messed up b/c she never went to support meetings. Be sure you post often here and get the support you need for success. Best wishes to you!

Could that be where your port is? If so, it will swell up & down for weeks. I'm 10 wks out and still get some bulging at port site.

wishing you a successful journey! post often and we'll rock this journey together as a team.

I had my surgery Oct 15, haven't done much exercise b/c I need double knee replacement. But I'm not feeling like you. Are you getting your required protein & fluids? Sounds like you should talk withDr or nutritionist. Hope you feel better soon.

3 months out and 50lbs down but not stuck
Maddysgram replied to lilbrigy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Keep on ,keeping on! Like Cheryl said, we all hit plateus, but weight loss will start up again. -
Congratulations! That is awesome

Also quit cold turkey before surgery and I don't miss it now at all. Like Honk said, it really reduces the price on your meals out. My surgeon said no carbonation, so no carbonation it is.

Nice to have you out in the open with us, welcome! Having the surgery does make most of us nervous and scared. It is a whole new life and change is hard. Glad you have spent so much time here learning about the band and how it works and doesn't work. So many go into this and really do not have a clue, which is sad b/c it sets them up to fail. After a year, I would think you know this as well as a banded person. Every day I wake up happy I made this decision. I too wish I could have done it sooner. But better late than never. Best Wishes on your decision! Stick around!

I too got left shoulder pain from first fill. It is caused by the nerve close to your band. It tells me when to stop eating. If I go over one bite after first twinge of pain, it will get really severe. Some times a stuck burp will cause the nerve pain. Due for second fill Jan 3 and kinda nervous it might get worse.

It would be wise to follow your Drs orders. As you've noticed all Drs are different and your Dr believes in the plan they gave you. Right now, you , surgeon and staff are a team, that works together for whats best for you. Try not to compare yourself to others, we're all on the same journey, but all very different from each other. Call your Dr and ask them about what you can do to get through this stage. Best of Luck!

Waiting for answer is stressful. My answer finally came when I was busy and wasn't thinking about it.lol Only advice I could give is to spend every free second here, reading post and learning all you can about the LB. It was the best thing I did before surgery. Everything will work out the way it's suppose to. Best Wishes!
