Welcome and very glad you are here with us. Jan.10,2012 I t-bone a old guy that pulled out in front of me. My car was totalled, but I was not hurt like you and son. No broken bones, just a lot of tears, but that is what led me to LBS. I had to try something to relieve the pain that physical therapy was not helping. Believe it or not ,during surgery they did something with my neck that took away the pain I had been having for 8mths, so I got a two for, LBS and neck repair, lol. I'm so glad you're joining our LB family. There is so much support and inspiration. Please post often so we get to know you and can cheer you on. Best wishes on your journey to a healthier you!

Some ppl do take numerous fills before hitting the green zone, once a month for maybe 6 mths, but after you hit that zone you could be good for years. Don't give up yet! Maybe you couldn't handle that .5cc b/c you had too much swelling or not taking small enough bites or eating to fast. There's definitely a learning curve. Yes, I would try a small fill. Slow and sure wins the race! Good luck to you! I just had my port flip before my second fill, so looking at a small surgery for correction before getting another fill, but to me it's all worth it. I've always been able to lose weight, just not keep it off. The band is my insurance this time.

They don't like your answer that's why. They are looking for your secret lose weight quick scheme. They don't want to hear do this, don't do that, but I do. Thanks for all your advice. You always give me hope and I appreciate all your efforts to help us. Their loss!

Takes awhile to find the green zone, dear. I'm right there with you. It will come, hang tight.

playing the waiting game
Maddysgram replied to jenni612's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Waiting is one of the hardest things. Hope your answer comes soon. -
I had this same problem and asked the same question when I was first banded. I love water and I'd drink it too fast. B52's funnel explanation makes a lot of sense. I'm just glad we don't have to fight to get our water limit down.

Does sound yummy. Is it spicy? If not I'll be making it. Thanks!

Really you lost weight but suffering with Fluid retention.Increase your Water consumption.

Just got back from radiology and port is flipped completely over. Scheduling revision surgery. Dr said its a small surgery done at surgery center in his office building. Just a small bump in the road on my journey. Could eat a cheeseburger right now, but I won't.lol

WTG! Have a wonderful time on your cruise. Where you cruising to?

LMAO

Another go thing about having this now 1) like Jack said, a lot of useful info with test. I found out I had silent reflux with esphogitis erosion. If I hadn't had the test it could have turn into cancer. 2) It gives you a great short prelude to what going under for LBS will be like. First you're there and next thing you know you're there again, like was I really out for an hour?

WTG! Great feeling, isn't it. Congratulations!

Try not to worry hun, it's so quick and easy. I've had 2 and I always wished I was out a little longer.lol I'm not a good sleep. Lets us know how it goes. You'll do great!

need help on post-op liquid diet
Maddysgram replied to brannewmee's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sorry, but that was pretty much all I was allowed to have for 3wks. Couldn't have eggs. Did your Dr give you a list of foods you were allowed? Mind did and it look like what you just listed.lol Call your Dr and see if they will let you have anything else. -
how many fills till you hit green?
Maddysgram replied to brandice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Everyone's fill to the green zone is different. Some need very little and some need a lot. I'm not there yet, so I can't tell you how much for me. You can get stuck at anytime during your lap band journey, if you're taking too big a bite, not chewing enough, eating to much. Do you see yourself doing any of these things? Sometimes a certain food just can't be tolerated anymore, so keep note on what your eating when getting stuck, if none of the other things are causing your problems. Hope you can figure this out and good luck! -
weight gain??
Maddysgram replied to Benellibabe with a Band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
All Drs are different, some fill, some don't. I didn't get my first fill until 6wks out and I got 3cc and hopefully another fill tomorrow, which he said would be 2cc. As far as gaining weight right now, you are in your healing stage until 6wks out and you shouldn't worry about any weight loss. Just follow your Drs orders and you will be fine. When you go from nearly starving diet to eating real food again your body is going to try to hold on to those calories, but hang in there it will all even out. Best wishes on both of your journey's! -
Pressure to lose weight
Maddysgram replied to paigemomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The band will work for you, if you work the band. It's not a magic device that weight automatically starts falling off. In most cases until you have enough fills and reach the green zone, it's just another diet. It will be up to you to follow your Drs. orders and stick to the diet they give you. I'm 3mths out and not in the green zone yet. I've had one fill of 3cc in a 10cc band. So it's been up to me to stick to the rules and by doing so I have continued to lose weight. Dr promises me that soon the band will make things easier for me, but until then it's all me. I know that doesn't sound like fun, but that's how it is, unless you are a lucky one and need no fills. You just need to educate your friends on how the band works. It is not "the easy way out" as some tend to believe. So educate yourself and then educate them. I wish you all the best on your journey! -
I don't believe in willpower, I believe in wantpower and you sound like you want it, so go get it. Every time you go to eat something unhealthy, ask yourself, will this get me what I want? I have bins of clothes in my closet from size 24-14, been a yoyo dieter for 40 yrs. Now working my way through those clothes. I've lost 100 lbs before and gained it back and felt exactly like you do right now. Before getting banded I was to the point I couldn't make it through a store. For the last 3 yrs have bought all Christmas gifts from a catalog, can't play with my granchildren, I need knee replacement but Dr wants me to wait until I'm 60 yo that's 4 more years. I decided I couldn't live like this anymore. I had no life, I just was. So I know what you're saying. I WANT my life back!!!

Being to tight can stall your weight loss, you might want to rethink that. Right now, take small bites, chew, chew chew, you remember and see how that goes. We're here for you! It's really sounds like you have this figured out. You know what you're doing wrong. We can't make you stop that, only you can. But we are here to support you and tell you we believe in you.

You're not cheating your band sweetie, you're cheating you. You deserve to be healthy, happy and running around with that little one. We all have felt discussed with ourselves for letting obesity take over us. But we deserve a life too. You are worth the effort! Start thinking positive, start telling yourself "I can do this", "I did it before and I can do it again". Like Nike, Just do it!

Did your doctor do this also?
Maddysgram replied to paigemomma's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No diet for me either. Like Missy said, just follow your Drs orders and don't feel guilty. Best wishes Thursday! -
Do you eat your 3-4 oz of protein first? Stick to 1 cup for total meal, one bite and wait one minute and be done in 20mins whether plate is empty or not? I'd try an save money to see Dr to make sure the band is where it's suppose to be. Right now I only have 3cc in my 10cc band and am not in the green zone, so everything I lose right now is from my want power. It's just another diet for now. I believe if you want it bad enough, you will do it. I wish you all the luck in reclaiming your health!

MsRhonda have your dietician set up a diet program just for you. My Nutritionist has me on 1000-1200 calories a day, which I'm to have 60grams of Protein a day. I'm suppose to eat 3 meals a day and eat my protein first and if there's any room left have 1/4 to 1/2 of veggies & 1/4 good carbs (fruit, whole grain bread or crackers or veggie). So each meal is to have over 15 grams of protein. My Fitness Pal is an excellent way to track your calories and protein. You can use it on your phone or home computer. No trying to figure how many grams you've had the app does it for you. It's a fact that more ppl lose weight when they track. Good luck to you!

Peaceful, weren't you just banded not that long ago? If that is correct, you really do want to follow your nutritionist advice. You're just getting started. The ppl using the carb cycling have been banded for a while and have lost a lot of weight and they are using it to break plateau's. It's really not right for you right now.j/s
