LOL, we both "wanted it", we be sista's!
-
It is hard! Before LBS we've all been there asking ourselves why we do this to ourselves. Right now, I want my life back. I'm 56 yo, for three years I've been unable to go Christmas shopping and grocery shopping caused so much pain it would make me break out in a sweat, that my hair would be soaked just from the effort. Noticed I said "it would"? I'm half way to goal and I can do these things now. For me it all comes down to I WANTED my life back. When I look at something that's empty calories I say to myself, do you need this or do you want it? What do you want more, your life back or crap. Is the crap worth trading my life? The answer is not only no, but HELL no! If you really, really want to eat healthy, you will. Ask yourself, Do I want this? We will always have stress in our lives, we need to learn to deal with them in a non-food way.

hardest bandster rule to follow for me..
Maddysgram replied to gldngrrl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Def not drinking 1 hr after meal. When cruising the forum before banding and no drinking with meals came up, no problem I never drink with a meal. Little did I think that immediately after my meal, I WANT A DRINK!!! -
One thing you will learn from here is every Dr is different. Different pre op diet ( I had none) and different post op diet (I had full liquids for 30days). Some ppl have 2 wks of liquid pre op diet, some ppl get to eat within their first week of being banded. Some get fills at surgery, some 10 days out, me 6 wks out. That's why you'll read ppl saying "follow your Dr's plan". It will be interesting to see what your Dr has planned for you.

I have Aetna and it was covered, so it must be the different plans.

Surgery 1/30 - would love a buddy
Maddysgram replied to makeyourself's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
We all buddies here, even when we don't agree with each other, we're still here to support each other. Post often so we can get to know you and stick around and read our post. I guarantee you'll learn alot from everyone here. -
Welcome to the forum. You have come to a great place to learn, be inspired a get support. I encourage you to learn all you can before being banded , you'll have a greater chance in succeeding. There are also some great books on LBS. As far as telling others, you might want to only tell the ppl who you know will stand behind you and support you. You don't want a bunch of ppl watching you and judging every morsel you put in your mouth. As time goes by and they notice you're losing, then tell them how you're doing it. Thats just my opinion.

yep, you better follow your Drs instructions. Do you have to do liquids for 24 hrs after your fill? You know you were banded after me and I still have only 3cc in my band.lol Would have been 5cc but ran into some trouble, which will be fixed soon and I can carry on. Good luck with your new fill.

Walking all you can and heating pad just about it. Hot herbal tea helped me too. Congratulations fellow bandster!

PS. Insurance booklets always confuse me, that's why I just sent the email.lol
-
When I started my process I sent my insurance company an email and asked if they covered LBS. They sent me an email saying yes, if you meet all the attached qualifications. My Bariatric Surgeons office stayed in direct contact with my Ins Co. and guided me through everything. If I'm not mistaken, haven't they already sent you for all the pre-qualifying test, if yes and they're not sure your covered, I'd be a little pissed.j/s

Checking in one day post op
Maddysgram replied to shaunamswenson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 48 hrs is the worse. A lot of swelling and aggrevation. The best thing you can do for yourself is get up and walk around as much as possible. My Dr said every 2hrs walk. Did they give you a Spirometer (?) the thing you breath into? If they did use it, if not do deep breathing exercises. Hang in there, every day will be better and better. Congratulations fellow bandster! -
When is this "tool" going to show up?
Maddysgram replied to audreycat123's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Oct 15 and have 3cc in my band, not in the green zone. I know what you're saying. Please don't compare yourself to anyone, it will drive you crazy. Stick with the LB rules and it will work for you. I feel I'm going to be like AJ and be close to goal before I have the restriction I need. The good thing is, the restriction will keep me from gaining all I've lost, like I've done 100 times before. This will work Hang in there! -

You're on your way, congratulations! Please stick around here reading and posting. You will learn more here about the band than any meetings they make you sit through. You might want to check out a Lap Band book too. Lots of knowledge, support & inspiration here to help you on your way. Best Wishes! -

Question for those who completed 6 month supervised diet...
Maddysgram replied to CaGottaBand's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had that same fear. I knew I could lose weight, but was afraid insurance would see that as a reason not to let me have surgery. I half hearted dieted during that 6mths and lost 20 lbs. After my info went to insurance I kicked it up a notch. By the time I was able to go to surgery was another month ,b/c of me not insurance or Dr, I was doing the lap band rules and lost another 14lbs. I'm glad how it all turned out after surgery b/c when everyone was crying that they were starving and couldn't handle the post op diet, I really didn't have a problem, it was just same old same old. Wishing you the best on your journey! -
If your stomach already feels sick, I don't think I'd want a fill. Fill's cause some swelling.

That's when they fold your stomach within itself and stitch it in place and you end up having a banana shaped stomach.
