looking for freinds/mentors!
Maddysgram replied to sjenki's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Oct 15,2012 and very happy with my choice. Emotions are one thing that runs rampant through this whole process, but it's all worth it. -
3 weeks and first fill now what to eat
Maddysgram replied to Hersheyskiss21's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you've been cleared to eat anything, I just tried whatever I wanted and found out I can still eat anything, with a small enough bite and chew like crazy. I've never tried bread without toasting it b/c so many say they have trouble. I eat a lot of chicken, steam shrimp with sauce, steak, hamburger patties, Just made Zucchini Boats (recipe under food & nutrient) really good. Pretty much any veggies, poached eggs, Weight control oatmeal has 11gm protein a friend told me to add 1 egg white and get another 9 gr., That's 20gr for 1 bowl of oatmeal and very filling, most the time I can't eat but half. I think it's all about trial and error! Good Luck! -
Just glad I like my eggs over easy or poached b/c I have read dozens of ppl saying they can't do scrambled anymore. I love, love, love eggs, I'd hate not being able to eat them. Good luck with trying!

My deepest sympathy on the passing of your dad! My dad died 14 yrs ago and I still miss him so. It doesn't hurt like it did, but still miss him. Glad your climbing back on the wagon, your dad would want you to do that. He's now your angel cheering you on, and we're all here to support you too! We can do this!

any florida bandsters from Venice,
Maddysgram replied to nonni-judy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I grew up in Venice and live in Englewood now. I had my surgery through Sarasota Bariatric's , who are run by Sarasota Memorial. They have a support group for their patients the first Thursday of every month. I started with their group, but got way more info here. PM me if you need any help with anything. -

Welcome Stephanie! Glad to have you with us. I started here 7mths before being banded and it was a great education. Post often so we can get to know you. Congrats on your ins. approval! Best Wishes on your journey! -
I don't have Tricare, but my PCP did it the same way as Karen's. Then he attached a letter of necessity. Good Luck!

That's what it sounds like. I thought if you were in child bearing years you had to have an automatic pregnancy test?!

Anyone cheat on their preop diet?
Maddysgram replied to kerri360's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Boy, when you cheat, you cheat a good one.lol Glad you're ok and things worked out. -
You really need to call your surgeon ASAP
-
I would think that as long as the band is in the right place and functioning properly , there would be no reason why not. Your Dr could best guide you in the right direction. Wishing you the best!

Can you fill out your profile, so we all have some idea where you are at in the LB process and what your goals are?

A bit confused....
Maddysgram replied to Nessie126's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not trying to be funny, but maybe a new Dr. If they are not there to make sure you understand everything, you don't want them. My bariatric center is there to see that I succeed. -
Amen sista! Thanks for sharing.

Maddysgram replied to kerri360's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I didn't have a pre op diet, I was already doing that. I just wanted to thank everyone for their honesty. -
Liquid diet vs low-carb diet
Maddysgram replied to ATXVeg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I guess I did the "wacky just eat better before surgery" diet, lol with a bmi of 47. I had lost 33 lbs by the day of surgery. -
I'm glad you're sticking with your allot portions. Keep up the great job your doing. It does take a lot of want power. I hope you have good restriction on your first fill, some ppl do and some don't, it might take a few fills. My Dr does promise me the band will start to help me, when we get the restriction I need. I have 1 fill at 3cc, not there yet, lol. Hang tight, we'll get there!
