Where is your Lap Band port?
Maddysgram replied to Anali11's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can feel your band, but the swelling will have to go down before then. My is on my left just below my ribs. Most the time its the largest incision and the one that stays the most tender, longer. Congratulations MsBandster! -
I gained 30lbs after my car accident too, but it was pre band and that was what started the process. I'd look at it as, ok I survived and accident that could have taken my life, but I'm still here and it's time to make myself even healthier. Go back to your band way of eating, see your Dr for a fill if need be. You did this once, you can do it again. Log what you're eating and stick to your plan. You survived and car accident, you can do this too! Glad you're back with us!

Cereal is one of those addictive carbs to me, so I stay away from them. Every once in awhile I will pick up a box of GoLean Crunch to eat dry as a snack or put in my yogurt. 1c. 190 cal. 9gr protein , but it does have 13g sugar, which to me is a lot, but I only us 1/4 c for yogurt.

I agree with Missy & Floridays, I have not vomited, I eat with others only less and I have no restriction yet, but still losing weight. Some ppl think their band has to be so tight that they do vomit a lot and end up gaining weight from eating high calorie slider foods. Some ppl do not changd their lifestyle. They thought this was a magic WLS, its not. It takes commitment. -
Yes, while you're swollen you just don't feel like eating, your appetite will come back. You do really need to stay on top of your fluids. Shoot for 1oz every 15mins. That too will change after awhile. I found sipping warm drinks helped too. Good luck! sip, sip, sip

Wishing you the best! Keep us posted. -
Egg whites a lot of protein & low cal, tuna with chopped egg whites. Hamburger patty, steam shrimp, steak, lots of chicken. If I'm on the run and need something quick I will grab a Cliff Protein bar at 20 grs. Between meals if I need a snack, greek key lime yogurt, ff cottage cheese . I really don't have a problem with getting protein in, but it does take planning.

No one really knows when their numbers up and its terrible to live with "what if's" or " I should haves". This is very sad and I pray they find the ppl who did this to him. But he left a great lesson to all, smile and be polite to strangers in the grocery stores, passing by ,helping you. Hug your family, friends and coworkers and tell them you care. You can never wear out "I love you", "have a good day", "thank you" or "I'm sorry". ((((((((Floridays))))))) Thank you for reminding us about whats important!

LOL, 10 crackers a whole lot better then a whole sleeve of them. I'm even afraid now to touch them. Good for you! -
Sometimes when I want a little treat I have GoLean Crunch (dry)1c is 190 cal, but it has 9gr of protein. I usually am happy with 1/2 c and eat it right out of measuring cup.

So sorry! Thoughts & prayers everything will work out. Stress, which obviously you have, can tighten your band up.

The dreaded BM talk
Maddysgram replied to cole&matt'smom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Most Drs don't want you using laxatives b/c of cramping, usually its just a stool softener or fiber pills. Call your Dr and asked them what they would recommend. Wondering why Drs don't cover this in their post op instructions?lol -
Love you too girlfriend! To myself: I know destynee saying she loves me makes me all warm and fuzzy inside, but you don't need food to seal that deal. Glow in the warm and fuzzy all by itself!

Happy, sad, bored, mad, nervous, upset, excited, you name the emotion, I ate through it. Hello 274 lbs. I just recently had the news that I needed surgery. My first thought, I want a cheeseburger with everything on it, why not, I deserved it. I should get a treat for having to go through this. Just one won't hurt, just this once etc.... Boy can our minds work it all out. What I did say to myself was "shut the hell up", no you don't deserve it, I deserve health. Things happen, deal with it. No, one won't hurt now, but what about next time and the time after that and the time after that (you get the picture). I'm in control here, not you emotions, so shut the hell up!!!! I can tell myself off good.lol What happen was I stuck to my Drs plan and what I got in return was Pride, surprised me, when it came to myself I never had that before. And I liked it! I like it A LOT! So the next time my brain tells me what I deserve and need. I'll be ready ! I need my health, I need pride in myself, I need to listen to my stomach, not my emotions. It's such a good feeling! A psychologist might think talking to myself might be weird, but it works for me. I wish everyone success with telling their emotions to "shut the hell up". You make a mistake, don't let your emotions say anything, it was a mistake, learn from it and move on. There is always going to be stress in our lives
-
PS. I would try to get appt on a Friday, in case your fill is too tight and you need a slight unfill. You don"t want to have to go through this whole thing again.
-
How much of a noticed did you give the principal? Why did you make it on a "Professional Development" day? I think I would try to reschedule 2wks out so plenty of notice, make sure there were no special do not miss days. I agree with not causing reasons for the principal to make your life any more miserable. That way, there is no reason you shouldn't get it. I agree also, you do not have to tell anyone whats going on!!!! I'm just afraid if Dr writes a note, they might figure out it was a non-emergency. Good Luck!
