when can I start feeling a difference?
Maddysgram replied to mesmus's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm 4mths out too and have arthritis in both knee's and they're just starting to feel some what better. Some days(rainy/cold) they still really hurt, but they are better. Some things take awhile to even realize there's a difference. I just realized yesterday that I have not (knock on wood) had any problems with my sciatic , which I always had for years, every day.But didn't notice until yesterday, don't know when it stopped, but it did.lol I've gone from severe obseity to morbid and now just a tick from obese, never thought being obese would make me happy. Hang in there, you will start feeling a difference, I promise. -
You are our Super Star! It did take great courage to come out and tell everyone. I'm very proud of your success and your willingness to share that with everyone that might to struggling too.

Am I in bandster hell?
Maddysgram replied to wozzicat's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded Oct 15,2012 and still no restriction. When I get really hungry I do what Sojo suggested, keep really, really busy and drink a lot of Water, decaf tea and SF hot chocolate. This is a time for mind over matter. -
Thanks for this article Jean. You described exactly how I've been feeling. Some days so tight I can hardly eat, next day I want to eat everything in sight (but I don't). Every day is a new day.

Woohoo, A bunch of new bandits coming up, congratulations! Nerves and fears of the unknown, normal. You'll all do great! -
Still have a smile on my face
Maddysgram replied to carlak's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
So excited to have another loser join us, woohoo. Only advice I can give, is to learn everything you can learn about the Lap Band and the place to do that is here. So stick around, ask questions and hang with a bunch of losers. You'll fit right in! -
They intubate (air tube) you and that can cause swelling and sore throat, also if you had hernia repair can be felt in chest. I would try some deep breathing for a while and if it doesn't clear up, call your Dr. Warm tea helps too

Welcome to the forum! I agree with everyone, we've all been there, done that. You will find a lot of support and inspiration here. I too, would rather hide my loose skin, than lug all this fat around. Fat can kill you, loose skin can't. Learn all you can about LBS and you'll do great!

I was telling my daughter what you've been going through and she suggested that I tell you about a book that helped her and where she learned about progesterone. Taking Charge of Your Fertility , a link to it at www.tcoyf.com. by Toni Weschler

No such thing as a stupid question?
Maddysgram replied to Molly40.P's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I couldn't have said it better than Missy. She explained exactly how it works. I don't believe in willpower, I work on want power. I want to be healthy, so I want to eat the portion sizes and right foods to get me there. Ask yourself, do you have the want power to do what you have to do? and that goes for any WLS. -
Pulling sensation from port site/area
Maddysgram replied to Sunnyd623's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 3wks out from a port revision and I was telling my Dr how my port area swells up a lot and he said it was just fluid that is part of the healing process. -
That is awesome, congratulations! Thanks for sharing and giving us newbies some inspiration.

up and down the same 5 pounds! help!!
Maddysgram replied to Secondchanceatlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Are you guys tracking your calories and measuring your portions, if so and still losing and gaining, I would talk with you Nut, have them go over your food tracking and see whats going on. If you're not tracking, I would try that and see where you stand . Good luck, I know it has to be frustrating! -
Hope your approval comes quickly. Good luck!

Ok I'm hungry...wait no I'm not..please help
Maddysgram replied to Vpamphile's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
aj took the words right out of my mouth, head hunger. I fought that today. I knew I wasn't physically hungery, but my head was telling me I wanted something. I told it to shut the hell up and went and cleaned out a drawer. While I was doing that I found two pairs of size 16 shorts and decided to try them on, they fit. So yes, "nothing does taste as good as skinny feels". I have not worn shorts in years. This summer is going to be different. Started out in a tight size 24. I can't even believe I now share my size with anyone, that never happened before either.lol -
That's great! Congratulations!

WTG! I too hope to be like you one day. Keep rocking that band, girlfriend!

I'm so sorry for your loss! I knkw what you're saying . I have watched both of my daughters go through this same pain. My eldest had multiple miscarriages until She insisted on having her Progesterone checked and now she has 3 kids. So be sure you do jump on that. We really don't know why Drs will let you go threw multiple miscarraiges before they check it. Its a simple blood test. My youngest had a baby girl stillborn at 6mths ,3 y ago and has not been able to get pregnant since. She's had one unsuccessful IVF last year and we're in the process of waiting the 2wks, hoping for a positive pregnancy after having her 2nd round of IVF. It is painful to be around happy pregnant women, I understand. I'm sure the Progestrone will give you the baby you want. Research it, like my daughter did. Its very common. Thoughts & prayers for your next pregnancy!

Will work approve a 2 week leave?
Maddysgram replied to SWChitown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Seems like with Hippa, you shouldn't have to say what kind of surgery you are having. Just a medical procedure and if HR did tell the boss, that seems like it would be against hippa policy too. I know there has to be a HR person here and will be interested to see what they say. Good Luck! -
Try staying off the scale if it upsets you. I for one can weigh every morning and it doesn't bother me, but if it drives you mad and depresses you, its time to stop.

Anxious but Excited!!!
Maddysgram replied to PatMac77's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery at 1:30pm and after arriving at hospital, they had me gown up and lay in bed, got IV started asked tons of questions, gave me a dose of calming juice (can't remember what) surgeon & anesth Drs came in and talked. Then off I went to OR where they hook you up to monitors and joke around with you and then they say goodnight and next thing you know, they're waking you up. I've been put out a number of times and its really pretty cool. First you're there and then you're not and then you are again. Nerves are normal. Just keep thinking about the new healthier you and not what if's. You'll be fine! Best of luck! -
Best of luck to you! May I ask what made you change your mind?
