Glad you figured this out and you're doing very well. I hope newbies read this and follow your example. First thing my bariatric staff stressed was "you have to drink a minimum of 64oz a day". Not only does it help with hunger, but the toxins it flushes from your whole system is amazing. You notice your skin becomes smoother and soft. I keep feeling my face and can't believe the difference. Good luck on your continued success!

New to everything

Welcome to the forum! You've come to the right place for information regarding lapbanding. I urge you to continue reading threads here, as if your cramming for an exam, lol. It is hard to answer some of your question b/c as you continue reading post you will see everyone is different and every Dr has different rules to follow. The one thing we will all agree on, is you have to follow your Drs. orders, no matter what, unless they turn out to be a total quack and we'd tell you that, lol. So pick your surgeon wisely. You will have ppl coming out of the wood work sharing their horror stories, but if you do your research, you will be able to tell, who just didn't follow the rules. There are a few ppl who have problems as no fault of their own, but many with great success and you'll meet them here. My advice on staying fuller longer, eat by LB rules, eat slowly one bite per minute and 20-30 chews, smaller bites, smaller plates, by eating good solid Protein first at every meal, even Snacks should have protein. Eat only good carbs, fresh fruit & veggies, but protein first lol. Start drinking 64oz of Water daily. You'll have to do it after banding, my as well start now. A lot of ppl had to do a 2wk liquid diet pre op, a lot of us, myself included did not. My Dr makes this decision based on each individual patient. I think I got away with it b/c I had lost well before surgery. My diet now consist of 1000 cal, 60gr of protein , everything logged in an app called MyFitnessPal and everything weighed and measured. It works for me. Others are able to do this without it, I can't. Working, most ppl can go back to work in a week, but there will be no heavy lifting for 4-6 wks. I think thats pretty much universal. Stick around, ask questions and prepare to change your life for the good. Good luck! -
Oh my gosh the pain

eating too fast eating too much too tight???? Did you do just fluids after fill, you might want to try that, but call your Dr first and get their opinion. -
Great post Love Great post Love. I too, am using my band as a safety net. Since the weight I have lost so far has been all diet, no restriction, eating healthy and portion control makes the difference. Glad I have "insurance" on keeping it off this time. Love, you are such a great inspiration to all of us. You worked really hard for 2yrs to reach your goal, you never gave up. Thanks for sharing great advice!

To Tell or not To Tell my surgeon what went on tonight at support meeting-please advise
Maddysgram replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I pretty much agree with you elcee. We are supposed to be able to eat what we want, but in smaller portions. The only problem I have with this Nut is, a Nut is suppose to teach us nutrition. I think this girl would probably do well, if she stuck with teaching nutritional values to food. LOL, The USA is one of the most obese countries, b/c of pizza and fried food. I've always convinced myself pizza was a highly nutritious food, to be eaten every day. I think we're a fast food country, we're to busy to eat healthy, lol. I keep wondering how you're doing, after all your company and birthday celebrating? -

My last support group meeting was a bummer too. About 30 gasrtic bypass parients and 2 LBers and all I heard all night is how you'll succeed with GB and fail with LB, b/c its easier to cheat. I finally couldn't take it anymore and said to the Nut " isn't it true that you can fail with any WLS, if you do not change your eating habits", that shut them up.lol I get more support here, so not to concerned with other support meetings. -

I agree, nurse or no nurse, just say whats on your mind. Thats part of recovery, not holding things in. -

I think I would say something like, I know how important support meeting are for success, but I can not sit through another meeting being told you can drink soda and eat whatever you want. What kind of support is that. Why yes, we can eat anything we want, but not everything we want to eat is good for us. I think I would have piped up and said "what kind of nutrition is someone getting from soda?" Even if our band did allow it, what is it good for. I think that Nut ( no pun intended) needs to go for a refresher course. -

My Dr said its not common and you're more likely to have a leaking tube.He went on to say that after your 6wk healing period they really expect scar tissue to form and help hold the stitching down. I have no idea how my port did a complete flip, which he did try to manually flip it back, but was a no go. I'm really being careful during my healing phase and hope this does not happen again. For me, that surgery was much easier than LBS.

Ok, I'll PM you, don't want to share with the whole board. But I do need your banking info too, so my bank will know you're legit.

I too, had to do the 6mths and at the time of being told, I was disappointed. It was a blessing in disguise. It gave me the time I needed to learn everything I needed to know about the LB. Also gave me time to make a lot of friends here and recieve their support. The 6mths did go by quickly. I learn to eat like a bandster, dropping bad habits before surgery and if I had to do it over again, I wouldn't change a thing. Hang in there, its worth it.

Looks just like you,lol

Ah, a princess writing a princess, how did she know? Can you believe ppl fall for that? My SIL who is a manager of a large grocery chain here in FL ,stop an older lady 85ish from wiring $50,000. to a long lost grandson she didn't know she had. She brought $50,000 in cash to his store and asked him to please put in in their safe until she got the Western Union forms filled out. On questioning her, he figured it was a scam and asked her to please give him her daughters phone number to verify it was legit. Need less to say, daughter was very grateful to my SIL.

I had that for my first 3mths. It was my soft stop when eating. The minute I got a twinge I had to stop or suffer. After my last fill, it did go away. Bitter sweet, miss the stop signal, but not the pain.

Thoughts & prayers for a quick recovery and great success! No last minute questions, hopefully they have all already been answered. You might want to take Chapstick with you. After surgery your lips are unbelievably dry. Just keep your thoughts on the prize and refuse to think what if's. You'll do great! Keep us posted -
So you're saying they gave you a fill even though you showed you were having reflux? But you're not having any heartburn or other issues, other than no restriction? I think I've got it. Do I understand your signiturd correctly that you have a 4cc band? How much have you lost in the 7yrs you've had your band? Sorry fir all the questions, just trying to understand whats going on with you that you are facing another surgery. Thanks for your patience with me.

Maddysgram replied to ErinSue2000's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't think you being 250 lbs have anything to do with it. You are healing. Your body is adjusting and you will be fine as long as you stick to Drs orders. Get most of your Protein from shakes, greek yogurt is excellent for protein, refried Beans, cottage cheese, tuna salad. Yes, you can even mush up the family meal if it has a good source of protein. I made a pot of taco Soup and mushed it for my mushy stage, good. Main thing is protein, protein, protein and Water, water, water or any calorie free non carbonated , caffiene free liquid. You'll be fine. Try not to stress!
