    On "thin purees", next step....

My thick purees was anything that I could put threw a blender.
  2. LOL, I was kinda taken aback by that. Wondering why you were calling it a fad and you had it yourself. Glad you cleared that up. In FL we have "Incision free Vasectomies". Always curious how they do that.lol

    Self Control

Just like any other addiction, we use our addiction to comfort ourselves, which causes obesity which causes more bad feeling and more comfort etc.....Also known as "Head Hunger". Until we learn to recognize what we're doing and find healthier ways to comfort ourselves the addiction will continue. So in my opinion, any addiction whether alcohol, drugs, sex or food, will not be cured until we fix our heads. There is always going to be ppl hating on overweight ppl, but with a good support system , we can learn to love ourselves no matter what. I know I have.

    I'm hungry

I just noticed you are 6wks post op. I would try eating more solid protein, instead of Protein Shakes. Solid protein will stay with you longer. chicken, tuna, eggs, lean meats etc...

If you weren't nervous about surgery, there would be something wrong with you.lol We've all been there and done that. Try to think only of the future you in smaller clothes, moving easier and enjoying your new life. Remember everyone in the OR are professiinals, there to keep you safe. BTW- from OR to recovery room seems like a split second. Thoughts & prayers for great success. Keep us posted and follow your Drs orders to a T.

    Help

Did your surgeon not give you a post op diet to follow? I was only allowed 2-3oz of soup at a time. Hope you didn't eat the whole can. As far as other family members eating fattening foods, It is nice if you could remove those foods from your house, but in my house it was me who was eating healthier. My hub who does not have weight issues continues to eat his junk food. I am doing this for ME, so I had to use MY want power to get through this. I can't expect my family to eat what I eat, but I can expect myself to want this enough to do what I have to do. Do you WANT this to work? After major surgery, I think you do. Make up your mind to Want yourself back to good health. As far as cheese puffs, probably didn't hurt you, its slider food, but by making your stomach churn to digest food, can hurt you. Your Dr is not trying to torture you, but help you succeed. Do what he says and talk to your Dr if you can't handle diet.

    Getting so excited

I agree with New Dawn. You have a great attitude, you've done your homework and you know where to find support. You're ready, congrats! I think that the fear of failing another diet,is something we all went through before banding. But I'm here to tell you, Follow your Drs orders and you will be successful. Best wishes!

    First Fill Today-Maybe a potential issue :(

Thoughts & prayers that this fill puts you in the green zone, that tubing isn't kinked and everything will be fine. Be very careful now that when you introduce solids back, small bites and chew it to mush and don't eat to fast.Something we all forget to do at one time or another.lol I had my port completely flip at second fill, stitches broke loose and Dr tried manually to flip it back over, which makes me think if you have a kink, maybe they can manual straighten it. I eventually had to have port revision and everything back to normal. Try not to worry, everything will work out.
  10. I was told no carbonation ever and I quit cold turkey days before surgery. I only drank Diet Mt Dew. I was just thinking yesterday, how I wish I could reach ppl, how much better my life is without soda. My skin and my bladder are the biggest improvements. I used to have to pee (tmi) after just about half a can of soda. At night I would get up 4-5 times a night. But now even though I drink Water constantly, I can go 3-4 hours without having to go. My skin is so smooth and soft , none greasy. Like CG, when I hear someone pop a can of soda, for a minute I really would like one, but then I think I really like whats happening with my body and starting again is not worth it. Like someone else stated here, if you try one sip you will not like it and I truly believe that b/c even now Propel which I liked is even to sweet tasting now. I also found that sweets, artifical or not make me crave more sweets, so I limited my lo cal sweets, even my artifical sweets (Splenda) Just my observation and opinion.

I have failed my band - SUPPORT GROUP

Glad everything worked out for you and I wish you continued success. I just started on LBT as you were going through all this and you were always so diplomatic in not bashing the band and just stating it did not work for you. I always appreciated that. Best of luck!

CVS Requiring Workers To Disclose Weight

My hub works for a Fortune 500 company and the insurance incentive works just like Catfish. After volunteering for the health assessment, the insurance co. offers ways to improve your health. They also added WLS, b/c they realized they could save money in the long run. I thank them for that.lol btw, they just saved on no longer having to pay for my b/p medicine. So I do agree with sojo, is all about money. We are required to either get our Rx's by mail or go to CVS. I hate CVS, not b/c of their policy, but b/c the one by my house is employed by morons.lol Going to have to drive a little farther, to the next CVS.

    Deydrated

Water slips right threw your band, so I don't think you need to worry about drinking to much. Did you get pain meds? Keep up with them until you are comfortable. Heating pad helps too. Every new day you will feel better and better. By the end of one week, you will be fine. Dr told me the first 48hrs is the roughest, so things will get better soon. Good luck!

    Greek Yogurt

Going to have to try that! I already love it with PB, so chocolate can only make it better.lol

    finally done

Congratulations on being on the banded side! It is exciting to think about our life changing for the better. I've already cleaned out my closets 4-5 times already. The whole experience is a learning experience. Good luck on your journey!

    Acid Reflux?

I'd also suggest sleep sitting up some, until you see your Dr. Glad you called your Dr.

    I am not a squirrel

I do that, but I've been known to spit it out too. And you're right, it happens when I'm over hungry. Never finished learning, huh?

    Annual EGD

I'm presuming you've been banded for over a year. I would have no problem having a EGD, being a few years back, before any thought of lapbanding, I had silent reflux. No symptoms of acid reflux, but one day extreme pain. Turns out my esophagus was eroded to the point of pre cancer. I now have been taking Prilocex daily for years. So whether you have symptoms or not, what would it hurt?
  19. Maddysgram

    Acid Reflux?

Missy is right, see your Dr. Untreated acid reflux can also lead to very serious problems with your esophagus.
  20. I'm much like Missy. When my calories were below 800, I would lose, but lose really slow. When I make sure to have at least 1000, the weight comes off much quicker. No matter how many calories, I do always get my 60 + grs of Protein daily and I make sure that every meal has protein in it and Snacks are full of protein also. I too, am not a nutritionist, but this is what works for me. Don't forget the minimum 64 oz of non caloric liquids too. That has a big affect on weight loss too.
  21. Congratulations to all who are being banded soon! New Dawn gave excellant advice and I couldn't have said it better. Nerves are also a part of surgery. We've all been there, done that. You all we do great. Mandymoo, sounds like you have your head in the game. Great job! Only thing to add to NewD, take Chapstick to surgery with you.lol
  22. LOL, I got the auto correct, but confused on the staples. Really don't know anyone who had staples. Congrats on moving up the wl ladder.
