6 month dr supervised diet
Maddysgram replied to melanndoll's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do the once a month weigh in at PCP, but didn't have to keep journals. Had to have 5yrs of proof of being overweight, also supplied by my PCP. Psych eval & nut. classes. I was approved one week after last pcp visit. Good luck to you! -
You'll have to stick around here for LB support. You might get some negative comments from those not understanding LBS. My surgeon has support meeting once a week, but sometimes includes Gastric Bypass patients. They are brutally against LBS. I've hung out here for almost a year and have learned a lot from my fellow bandsters. If you ever want to talk about something off forum, you can PM me. Good luck on your journey

I've heard a lot of ppl have trouble with banana's too.
-
I was told from the beginning to stay away from oranges, grapefruit and any other fiberous fruit.
-
Everyone is different and I know that there are some on the forum with 10ccor more. I have 5cc and think I'm there, might need a slight, slight fill, but will wait until my next appt the end of May.
-
Mine too! Love you guys!
-
I had that for 3mths. Mine was connected to my eating and was a signal to stop or suffer big time. It never lasted long, but hurt a lot. After my 2nd fill, it went away.

I have Aetna too and I had the same bmi & comobilities requirements. I had to do 6mth supervised diet, psych eval, nut class and had to have 5yrs. of high bmi, which I had with PCP. Within one week of final 6mth visit, I was approved for surgery.

I've never been, but considered it if I had trouble with compulsive overeating. So far so good. I don't know why they would even have to know you were banded. Does your surgeon offer support group meetings?
-
When you say "bulk foods" are you talking regular eating?
-
Personally I don't like spicy food,so can't help you. Go ahead and give it a try. Your band will let you know if it likes it or not.

Sounds like its where your port is, which does take the longest to heal. I actually thought it was going to be my new way of living and I didn't like the idea of that. It did eventually go away. -
How Much Do You Weigh Yourself?
Maddysgram replied to sunnysweety's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like CG says, whatever works for you. I weigh myself first thing every morning. If the scale doesn't move, I don't let it bother me. I know I'm doing the plan. Some ppl go ballistic if their weight doesn't change or they gain a little. They need to stay off the scale. Its what you can handle. -
Woohoo! Great start, keep it up. Congratulations!

Lap band risks seem like 100% failure in my research
Maddysgram replied to FrankieP83's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with all the above. No matter what WLS you choose, it takes following your Drs plans, or facing failure. My sister had Gastric bypass, lost a lot of weight and now years later has gained it all back. I choose LBS b/c of being able to reverse it, if there's any problems. You have a lot of ppl failing the band b/c they could not fix their head. My advice, learn all you can , talk with a surgeon, get facts from the manufacturers. Don't believe everything you read on the internet. I'm 56yo, LBS saved my life. -
Sleeping after surgery
Maddysgram replied to Creekwood's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very good point, Jim. I locked my three out of my room. Even on a good day that scares me.lol -
Apparently I am that 1% that has major issues with surgery.

Thanks for answering our questions. There is always something to learn from good and bad experiences. Wishing you a quick recovery and awesome results. -
Thank you for posting this. There are ppl here on the fence, if this is for them or not. Nice to have an uplifting story. LOL, Your stages are so true, but you forgot the one , minutes after surgery "what the heck did I do to myself"lol Good thing it only last a short time. Thanks again!

I think I can honestly say, that we have all been there, done that.lol Its a big decision and not to go into lightly. The best thing I could tell you is to try to think of the positives and not the what if's. Being knocked out is really no big deal. I've been knocked out 7 times and I rather enjoyed it.lol. You're out and next second you're back. Plus the surgeons and nurses are trained to keep you alive. There are complications in a few surgeries, but they are far and few between. Better chance of being in a car accident. After banding, you'll freak that you might have done something wrong with your band, also normal. That will pass too. The whole LBS is a long learning experience, full of mistakes, eating too fast, too big a bite. We all do it and have survived. The best part is cleaning out your closet and replacing your clothes with smaller sizes. My closet has been cleaned about 5 times all ready. It is awesome!

Have you called your Dr for anti nausea drugs? If not, do that. The swelling can make you gaggy. Hope it clears soon. -

Maddysgram replied to Dee99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same questions? You answered what you were vomiting, but where was surgery done and did they give you anti-nausea drugs? Glad my Dr didn't do any fills at time of surgery. I really don't understand why some do. You never know how much someone will swell. Sorry for your terrible experience and I hope everything works out well. -
I finally learn that about a year ago. It is a personal choice. I've always believed in the "thinking positively". I was just thinking that last night about our Government, so many negative comments, not surprised things are so hard to fix. Doesn't mean we have to agree with what their doing, but think of positive ways WE can change things. Ok, just my thoughts, not looking for any political conversation.lol PS. Love the new profile picture too PSS. Have a wonderful day! Love you!
