New to this.. 4 days since my surgery.. Looking for support/advice from experienced, lovely people?
Maddysgram replied to kellylap's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You've come to the right place for support, knowledge about WLS and inspiration from our superstars. I wish everyone could have been here for awhile before surgery. Ppl would have learned things Drs don't always discuss. Your pain will only last for a very short time. Every day will be an improvement. Welcome to the forum and ask any questions you have. -

Maddysgram replied to spoiltmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You really need to speak to Dr regarding this, but in the mean time, are you eating too big of bites, or too quickly? I have problems when I do those things. Most the time in my car, eating & driving, lol. I don't do that anymore. Do you have allergies? Will cause tightening. Once you throw up (not good) your stoma will be swollen and stop you from solids for a few days. Even on tight days, stay away from Ice Cream, nothing good in that for you. Drink Protein shakes. Please talk with your dr. Good luck! -

My Prayers go out to everyone in Boston
Maddysgram replied to hely88's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thoughts and prayers to all the families and friends effected by the acts of the sick souls who would do such a thing. May the world stand together in support against acts of terror. May God hear our prayers! -
I was told "no carbonation", but in my mind I look at it like this, what does a soda offer me in getting healthy? Absolutely nothing. There is not one ingredient that will improve my health. Wait a minute, there is one "water", don't need the chemicals. My thoughts.

Newly banded
Maddysgram replied to chrissyagent210's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It takes 4-6 wks to fully heal, so having different pains isn't abnormal. It really shouldn't be a pain, but more discomfort. Anything that freaks you out, you should call your Drs office. They are paid to see you through this, so don't feel you're bothering them. Did you have hernia repair too? -
My Dr told me that there wasn't anything exercise wise, that would hurt the band or port after the six weeks post op.
-
Happy Banniversary! Keep up the good work.
-
I'm sure you are. I didn't realize you had so much done at one time. I hope and pray the Dr can get to the bottom of this and you're soon on the way to recovery. So sorry for your discomfort! Keep us posted. We can all learn from this.

Start Liquid diet tomorrow please help
Maddysgram replied to Brieshay's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't speak about the pre op b/c I didn't have to do it. I had been dieting before hand and lost enough not to need it. What I want to say is, post op is probably going to be a little rough too, after the swelling goes down. You have to make up your mind right now about how bad you want this. Its not about willpower, its about wantpower. I looked at it as if I was going into a major surgery, risking everything to get this done, I was not going to blow it and I would just have to sit there and starve, if thats what it took. I figured, anyone can stick to their diet for a few months. Heck, I had enough fat, I could go for months with no food before I starved to death.lol Its tough at first, but you will not die from lack of food. I believe in you, now its time for you to believe in you. My thoughts and prayers for your success. -
Congratulations! And very good advice

Left hospital with no fill
Maddysgram replied to Lori Jo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
No fill at surgery. Post op 6wks before first fill. The folks here are speaking the truth, an arm would be doable. Took 3 fills, 4wks apart to get any restriction and still have to watch it sometimes or I could start a bad habit. Follow Drs orders, it does work. -
Does sound like you over ate. Your new full feeling isn't like the old thanksgiving stuff you're used to. Hope everything clears up soon.

protein shakes with water????
Maddysgram replied to JennaSoto's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my shakes are mixed with Water, add ice cube, put it threw Magic Bullet mixer and its like a milk shake. I hate milk, so no prob for me. -
Did Dr give you a fill at surgery? Sorry you are going through this and glad you called the dr first.
-
I totally agree with everything aj said. We've all been there, done that. Relax
-
Maybe you're replacing fat with muscle, staying the same weight. Do you measure? I definitely can say that I am not taking off weight as fast as I first was. I have gone weeks without losing and then a lb or two will come off. Sticking with the plan and counting on the math.lol Hang in there!
