protein, protein, protein and water, water, water Protein is whats goingmto keep you from chewing off your arm. Greek yogurt, creamed soups with greek yogurt added in(boost the protein). My fave was tomato with yogurt. Low fat ricotta cheese, cottage cheese and eggs are good in the protein dept. Really hungry, have a cup of hot decaf tea,my fave is Chai and diet hot chocolate a good go to. Right now it is mind over matter. You gotta make up your mind that you really want this and you're willing to suffer through the hunger. Do things to keep busy and your head busy. Clean closets, drawers, cabinets, whatever it takes to not sit around thinking of food. BTW. I'm 6 1/2 mths out and can still eat anything I want, just smaller portions, smaller bites and chewing it to mush. You can do this! Tell your mind to shut the hell up.lol

I've had two before even considering getting banded. They are really no big deal. Also had a colonoscopy, which is no big deal either, other than prep.

Kabo one nice looking dawg. Does he know his name comes from a reference to Sammy H? Poor puppy.lol I have a neighbor just like that. I told hub before surgery not to tell her anything, b/c she's the type to get on the phone and tell everyone she knows. She is also very negative and would give me grief. She just came over last week, to find out where my husband was for the week(business trip) and she still said "no he's not, he was just on one", anyways she noticed I lost weight and wanted to know what I was doing. I said " eating better and taking care of myself". Just so happened I just finished mowing the whole yard and was still working in my garden when she came over. Did I tell you her name is Mrs. Kravitis, from Bewitched. -
Stay off the scale.

Whenever I got hungry, I would grap another water or a diet hot chocolate. Hot chocolate has become a daily must have to me. You can do this, its mind over matter right now. Hang in there. You won't be sorry. -
Yes, aj has us all addicted. When I can find it, I use PB2 in my greek yogurt or reduced fat PB. But PB and yogurt is a daily treat for me.

At my second fill, my port had totally flipped and I had to have revision surgery. That too, is rare, but it happened to me. It is discouraging, but its just a small bump in the road. Look at my ticker, couldn't be happier and you will be happy again soon. Hang in there! -
Good Luck!

Definitely call your Dr. for all we know, they could have given you a fill during surgery and with the swelling ,is too much. Only they can tell you whats up. Good luck!

Missy is absolutely right. I know of a few who have gone in only to have been sewn back up and sent home on a pre-op diet even longer than the first go round. My Dr. describes the liver as being like Jello, if it can't be moved out of the way, b/c its slipping and sliding, no surgery. I'm sure a few taste of things here or there did not do any damage, but it wasn't worth the risk for me. Watching the surgery on YouTube is quite interesting, seeing how the drs do this surgery with long instruments, looking at a tv screen. We certianly don't need to give them anymore challenges. Good Luck with your surgery!

3 days out, you're still very swollen. I wonder too why they did not order liquid? I like the others, had liquid Vicodin. Call your Dr and ask for something else. -
Great job so far, congratulations

Confused/advice please

ps. drink more water. When we have fluid retention the extra water causes our bodies to not hold on to the extra. -
Confused/advice please

Did you have foods with a lot of sodium? Our weight can flucuate greatly day to day. I suggest you stay off the scale on a daily bases. Don't worry, if you're doing everything right, it will all work out. Congratulations on your weight loss so far. -
This is one of the things I ponder. I always thought that if someone reach their goal and stayed there for years and have developed new habits. I would have thought that eventually one could have their band removed and continue to eat the way they trained themselves to eat and not gain weight back. Now I understand. Thanks again for enlightening me, once again.

I agree with all of the above. I just wanted to add, just think about giving that new baby boy good nutrition. He doesn't need sugars and fats racing threw your body. Congratulations! -
I have friends with allergies, who actually have to have a small unfill during those times. The band is fickle. Stress does effect mine.

Grammy Terri, turned 64 in April, so yes... I would have smiled more.

All of the above for me.lol I was like you and had started yet another diet and was doing well. Right up to the night before surgery, I was second guessing myself. I then realized it was the same old, same old. Lose the weight, gain it back plus some. I couldn't afford to do that anymore. Like Missy, I needed my life back. You are the only one who can decide if you've had enough yoyo dieting. Glad I went ahead with it. In the past, I had always given up by now. Now I'm looking forward to making my goal for the first time ever. Good luck on any decision you make. Stick around and get a really good education on what the band can do and what it can't do.

Opinions, please!
Maddysgram replied to electricx8's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There's an old saying around here " The band is around your stomach, not your brain". You need to find other ways to control the head hunger. We will always have stresses in or livew, so we need to learn how to handle them, that doesn't include food. I would say, instead of the time to fix and eat ice cream, exercise then. Put in a exercise video or just some music and dance. Take a hot bath, organize something, find a hobby. I don't believe in "willpower", its all about "wantpower". How bad do you want to succeed? Kudo's on packing your lunch. PS. I haven't started exercising yet, b/c of bad knee's, but watching what i eat and making good choices does work. If I get hungry between meals, I have a cup of diet hot chocolate or a bottle of Water. I just tell myself, junk is not in the plan. Best to you. You can do this! -
So tired all the time. Lacking protein?
Maddysgram replied to lane85's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Sounds like you already know what the problem is, not eating healthy. You shouldn't be havingnso many Protein shakes and eating more solid protein. If you are so tight nothing goes down, 1. are you taking small enough bites 2. waiting a minute between bites 3. chewing enough? If you're doing those three things maybe you need a small unfill. Sounds like you're eating more slider foods. There's a fine line between having a band just right and being too tight. Are you getting in your 64 oz of Water? Taking vitamens? You really need to make an apt with a Bariatric Dr, or nutritionist. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.
