9 Reasons To Weigh & Measure Your Food
Maddysgram replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I noticed and that's what I love about you! I'm a true believer in laughter being the best medicine, whether physically or mentally. -
I'm one of the lucky ones. Pre op I craved sweets all day long, but post op, I have no cravings. I hope & pray it stays that way!

Congratulations! It is a life changing procedure, that comes along with educating ourselves on a daily bases. But it is, oh so worth it.

Food withdrawal symptoms
Maddysgram replied to Golfbooboo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It could be withdrawal, most the time it affects your whole body.Headaches and body aches. But to be sure, you need to talk with your Dr. I don't want to scare you, but after surgery, there is a slight chance of blood clots. So make the call today, please. -
9 Reasons To Weigh & Measure Your Food
Maddysgram replied to Jean McMillan's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Thanks for the reminder,Jean. Love your words of wisdom, mixed with a little humor. We hear it over and over again " I'm not losing and I'm doing everything I'm suppose to", are you measuring and logging? "well, no". Just do it! Thanks again for the time you take, to keep us all in line. -
You're absolutely right. It is all about you, what you need to do and how you need to do it. You go girl! Childcare too, woohoo Don't you hate it when friends that say their going to do something and don't even have the decency to call.Grrrr. My daughter has a friend like that, love her to death, buth geez, everyone has a cell phone. Guess she just didn't have a good excuse to cancel.

My port took almost the whole 6wks to return back to normal. Not painful, just tender. Thought that was how I was going to live the rest of my life with my band. The large incision is where the port is, but everyone's is in a different spot.

I'm not to my goal weight yet but bought my first pair of 22's capri's today, woohoo
Maddysgram replied to donna12's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
LOL, thats great Donna! I think that even though I don't need any new clothes, I should go into stores and just try things on, just because I can and it does make you feel good. I remember the days of having to try things on and not wanting to, knowing you were just going to leave in tears. Get NSV! Keep it up! -
Your pre-op?
Maddysgram replied to Wanna-Be-Healthy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was lucky, I didn't have one. I had been dieting before hand and lost 20 lbs, so it was just keep doing what I was doing. My Dr did make others do the 2wk liquid diet. So his decision was different from patient to patient. -
I think they give you 30days free and then you're so deep into it, you pay. I think it was around $125.00 for 6mths.
-
Paula bought 6mths of it and went way back in our family. It was quite interesting. You have to be committed to put in a lot of time and effort. I now have a cousin in England on my FB, that we didn't know before.

I imagine being away from your Dr and being in college, where everyone else is partying and eating what they want, must be very difficult. You know what you gotta do and we're right behind you. CG is right, you are not defined by your weight. Its whats in your heart. They will love you for you, not what you look like. If they don't, they're not worth your time anyways. You can do this!

btw, Congratulations!

Talk with your Dr or Nut. and see what they say. Really don't know what your nutritional values shoukd be right now, but they should know.

Am i eating/drinking enough??
Maddysgram replied to larsylooloo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I concur with missy, walk, walk, walk. I think I was told to drink 1oz every 15mins, so that means sip, sip, sip. You are still swollen from surgery, so it can be tough. You'll start feeling better every day. Good Luck! -
When my 8yo grandson gave me a hug and said" my arms go all the way around you ,grandma. You really look good." I wanted to be here for my grandkids. I'm here. This summer grandma taking them to the beach, now I can walk from the parking lot to the beach.

I've read up on your condition, msmaui and I'm very, very sorry for you. 2000 ppl annually get what you have and the reports don't show one thing about those being banded. Also, out of all the reports I read, I did not find one thing about hiatal hernia repair being a cause of it. Matter of fact, when it came to LBS and esophageal immobility (achalasia), most the time they say either patient already had it, b/c it can take years to develop , or patient compliance with the LB ( not my words, theirs). So to bash LBS or call for expensive test b/c of a less than 1% chance, is like getting rid of every drug on the market b/c of their side effects. Like I said, I'm sorry you have a problem and I hope its taken care of. But constant LB bashing is just not right. Maybe you can save 1 person this problem, but how many can die an early death from morbid obesity b/c you scared them to DEATH? The odds for that I'm sure are a lot greater. Get treated. Achalasia can be treated. I'm wondering why your band has not already been removed and you treated? Your experience is valid, as far as achalasia! My grandaughter has a G & J tube, nothing to do with LB. We support what your going through.

What Chez said, plus its your body, your health.Do what you feel is right. Are you obese? Have you failed every diet known to man? I am and I have, it was right for me. Good luck

Hey, don't forget about me too. Protein is one of the most important aspects of WLS, along with lots and lots of Water. You will do great!
-
I agree with Missy. You need to be eating solid Protein. In my experience, the more sugary foods I eat, the hungrier I get. If I stick to my protein, I do not crave sweets. Is there any chance in changing Drs?
