    Split personality....

We have all failed so many diets in the past, it is programmed into to us that this will just be another failure. It takes awhile for our minds to catch up and until it does, I tell that inner voice "to shut the hell up, I'm in control now". Even now after losing over 90 lbs, every once in awhile that voice is telling me, "so you lost some weight, you've done that before and gained it all back,j/s" and I'm still saying "Shut the hell up ". I didn't gain it over night and I'm not going to lose it over night. I'm just taking it, One day at a time. I screw up, I start all over. We can and we will do this!

Dee, Sounds like a wonderful time for the family. Glad everyone had fun. How did it go at your sisters party at the YMCA? Kids are getting a great start to summer. Cawanna, I agree with Terri, don't get to many clothes, you WILL NOT be in them to long. Enjoy your time with Tim McGraw, lucky you. I keep hoping I'll run into him at one of our local stores or restaurants, but nooooo.

We had a miracle this morning. Our friend woke up, completely with it and able to move all her parts. Drs were sure she would have severe brain damage. She wanted to know how she ended up in the hospital and when could she come home. Even her Drs said "it's a miracle". He husband saved her life by applying CPR. Thank you for all your prayers, they worked!

Between shopping for things for Ange's house all morning and emptying boxes all afternoon, I am totally exhausted and sore. Plans for tomorrow, are absolutely nothing...

Also Dawn, Have you clicked on the light switch thingy on the top left, next to eraser, font & size, to be able to space paragraphs. One way you can space, the other way you can download images, but you can't do both.

Dawn, The Drs had to cool down our friends body b/c her heart rate was so weak. This afternoon they began to warm her body and reduce her sedation and she has shown some favorable responses. She has so many ppl praying for her, I can't imagine anything but a complete healing. To those who haven't seen my post on FB. A friend who is only in her mid thirties, with 4 small children ages 8 to 1, has had a massive heart attack. She seem to be in excellent health, a runner and thin. Doesn't make sense, just like another friends grandson dying at 18mths. They still don't know why he died.

Carole, I'm so sorry to hear about Sushi. Thats whats so hard about having pets. We love them so much, but they age so much faster than us. After every heartbreak, I say I'm not doing that again and the next thing you know, I am. I'm sure she has had an excellent life with you & Jack. I hope and pray the medication will give you more time together.

BMI 41.4 no co-morbities so far..

First of all, welcome to the forum. There is a great source of information here. Also congratulations on working at getting healthy. The best thing you can do for yourself ,is to educate yourself. To many ppl go into this thinking its a quick fix and then find out its not. The band is a tool and unless you work with this tool, it will not work. You follow your Drs instructions and it will work, but there is work involved. Good things is, it does work. As far as whats expected of you next, is hard to say. Everyone's insurance requires different things. My insurance, Aetna, made me go through a 6mth supervised diet, psych eval and nutrition classes. My bariatric team led me every step of the way. They gave me a print out of things I had to get done and how long I had to do it. They took care of all the paper work. Best of luck on your journey. Stick around and ask questions. We're here to support each other.

    Gainging weight

Seems like wanting to have a baby, would be a great motivater. You want to be healthy and have the energy to chase after a little one don't you? Get in to see your Dr, maybe you need a fill. Go back to bandster eating. 1000-1200 calories a day, 60-80 gr protein , 64 oz of sf liquids, eating slow, taking smaller bites. You can do this, you have a future baby to get ready for. Good luck!

I'm glad everyone is happy being here. I needed you all just as much. It is nice reading about what everyone is going through and how you handle it. Makes you feel like you're not the only one and someone does understand. I've come to the conclussion that we all have struggles with our LBS, but having each other, we can get through it. I too, am happy we have each other. To think I was afraid when I started this group, no one would want to join. Just goes to show, face your fears. Love you all!

Carole, sounds like you're making great progress, not only in the house, but finding your way around the community too. I sure hope Sushi is feeling better tomorrow, but lining up a vet is a good idea too. Tomorrow going shopping with Ange to find window coverings. Evan has left that up to her, while he's in charge of hanging what pictures where. I think Angela's next Dr appt is in 2wks, She see's 2 different drs, her regular ob and a high risk ob. We just went to reg. ob, so next appt is with the high risk dr. Glad they're keeping a good eye on her. Diane,I too am glad the Drs can now be "the bad guys" and helping you decide what the best coarse of action is. I also understand what you're saying about the woman your mom has become, is not your mom and you do have to do what is best for her, not what makes everyone else feel good. It is about moms safety. I've had these talks with my kids. If I ever get like that, put me in a home and don't look back. Its always the ppl left behind that gets hurt. Happy Anniversary to you and your hub! What movie are you seeing? The last movie my hub went to see with me was Wild Hogs (b/c they rode Harleys), before that it was Ghost Busters.lol I think he can't sit through a movie b/c his hand can't stand not having a remote in it.lol I hope you have a nice weekend. Prayers for everything to come together quickly and mom in somewhere safe. ((((hugs))))

Terri, I waded out into my garden in knee high water this am and tried saving some plants that were down in the water. That was scary, kept telling myself "no snakes, no snakes". This is the reason I keep all my plants in pots, its been known to flood back there. Most on high ground , but a few went underwater. I had two heavy wooden chairs, with huge plants on them and some how they got turned over. A large branch fell, but luckily missed any plants.
  18. I am really sorry you are having these problems. I pray your voice will return. I actually had a positive experience with being intubated. I had a bad car accident 7mths prior to LBS. I had suffered excruciating neck and shoulder pain, that nothing helped. Well during surgery to place the air tube they had to pull my head straight back and whatever they did, I woke up with no more neck pain. I tell everyone I got a bogo. I have been intubated many times and all I've suffered is a slight sore throat. I truly hope you find relief. So very sorry!

Nutritionist Rules - What did yours say?

I was told Protein first, thats what keeps you satisfied. I also add ff plain greek yogurt to a lot of things, just to boost the protein. Plain yogurt in chili is really good. reduced fat Peanut Butter, ff greek yogurt and splenda is a really good low cal snack. The small amount of carbs you shoukd be getting, are good carbs, fruits, veggies and such. Not breads, Pasta and rice. You say you track, do you measure? Sometimes our eyes play tricks on us.lol Good luck!

Examples of pureed and soft food?

Anything you can put in a blender, you can puree.lol My fave was Taco Soup or chili with ff greek yogurt added for extra Protein. Its all about protein, so whatever you fix, think about that. Good luck!

    Hit my 1st goal

    Woohoo, thats great, congratulations!
  25. I think we all have shared in those same emotions. You will find as you progress into this, you will discover a few more. I call them LB phases. Don't be surprised that the night before surgery you cry and think, want in the world I'm I getting myself into and maybe I can loose the weight by myself. Isn't great to know, you're not alone and this is all normal? As long as you have educated yourself and know what you're getting into, you'll do great. Have you tried different shakes, see which brand you like best? Got your sf Jello, broth, sf popsicles ready? Take Chapstick to surgery center with you. After surgery you wake up with really dry lips. Heating pad? SF flavored drinks? Pillow for ride home, seatbelt can rub against your incisions. Best of luck!
