Drink From A Straw ???
Maddysgram replied to chenie69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Now I'm in a conundrum. I'm an advocate on listening to your Dr, but really love a straw with protein shakes. What to do, what to do? -

Eating If You Don't Feel Hungry?
Maddysgram replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Even though I have not been banded yet, I honestly believe in not eating if you are not hungry, and after being banded I will still go by that. I believe in listening to our body. When it's hungry, it will let you know. I have the same thing with steak. If I have it for dinner, still very full in the morning. -
Drink From A Straw ???
Maddysgram replied to chenie69's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have never heard of any Dr recommending a straw, but we know all Drs are different. My Dr said not to drink from straw or chew gum b/c of extra air in your pouch. -

Why Do People Think Lap Band Is The "easy" Way!?

I've lived most of my life worried about what others thought, but at 56yo I no longer give a crap what anyone thinks about anything. It's true, with age comes wisdom.lol -
Hi Stacytt, welcome to our biker babe group. It's really hard finding sexy biker babes, so glad you're here. That is my dream ride, to ride the dragons tail. It must have been awesome! One day maybe us BB's can meet up and ride together.

Emotional Eater Needing Help!
Maddysgram replied to cindroo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So happy your baby is ok. I know exactly what your going through. My Granddaughter has been through so many surgeries and I deserved those ------ fill in the blank, for having to deal with it. All I can say is think about being there for her in the long run. When she needs mom's help with her own children. It doesn't get easier as you age, it's much harder. You have to get control now. I'd say have your M&M's, you deserve it. Just make it a single serving bag, not a half pounder, and slowly enjoy them one by one . Eat them like we're suppose to eat our food 1 per minute. I know most people won't agree, but maybe they haven't been there & done that. -
Why Do People Think Lap Band Is The "easy" Way!?
Maddysgram replied to Lori Voss Green's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I too have lost 100 lbs twice , but yet here I am at 245, up as high as 274. That's why I choose the LB, not for "ease" of getting to goal, but helping me stay there for once. I know it's going to be just as much work to get there, but maybe a little easier staying there. As you get older, meaning after menopause. It does get harder, but also more important. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get at least a portion of my life back, b/c right now physically it sucks! I really don't give a darn what anyone thinks, it's about me. So if anyone says it's easy, poor them, they're ignorant. For once in our lives, WE CAN DO THIS AND WE TOGETHER WILL. Whose with me? -
Venting About Spoiled Nsv

It really is sad when a child has to teach a parent the golden rule. How messed up is that. I'd say your mom must have some issues of her own. Kudos for not letting her problem become yours. -

PM me if you would like to talk about it. Today is another new day, be good to yourself. Stand in front of your mirror today & everyday a say " I love you, you are a good person", 3 times until it sticks. You are loved!

Maddysgram replied to imsan1121's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, I'm from Englewood,FL and I'm 56yo. First off, congratulations on starting a journey to get healthy and good luck on quitting smoking. The best advice I could give you is learn all you can about LBS. You can do that by stalking LBT.com and reading WLS books. All the info the bariatric office throws at you is to fast in little time. You need time to understand how the band works and what you have to do to be successful. Knowledge is power! LBT.com will offer you a lot of knowledge, support and inspiration. Hope to see you posting and good luck on your WL journey! -

Sojo wasn't being rude. If you notice by her name she is a Lap Band Master also. Sometimes we are dumbfounded that people have Lap Band surgery and instead of getting the info they need from their surgical team, they get it on line. You can't believe everything you read on line. You pay your Dr. big bucks to take care of you, but you ask God knows who what you should do. Sojo said "you have a lot to learn" and that was her honest opinion. For all we know you could be a 14yo boy just messing with us, and if your not you really want to know what Sojo can teach you. I wish you well on your journey -
50 Lbs Down In 4.5 Months - Suddenly Super Depressed
Maddysgram replied to jen043454's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep, as long as the scale is going in the right direction. How long did it take you to get 130 lbs over weight? Probably years right? Give yourself a while to take it off. It will happen. You're doing everything right and before you know it you'll be at goal. I find that sometimes to get myself out of a funk I have to reach out and encourage others. It makes you feel good that you made someone else feel good. Find someone on this forum and lift their spirits, I guarantee you'll feel better. Best Wishes on your journey! -
I'm with you cindroo, less pain. I too look forward to the change in my appearance but to have a day with less pain would be heavenly.

Welcome to the forum! I was one of the lucky ones and not required to do the pre-op shakes. I have been testing a lot out for post-op (Oct.15). I like Pure Protein b/c it comes in single serving cans and I can grab and go in the morning. I also have some other brands but have not tried them yet. It must be nice to have someone going through this journey with you and understand exactly what you're going through. I hope you continue on this forum you will learn a lot about how the band works and doesn't work . See a lot of success story's and get a lot of support. Best Wishes on your journey
