I Want To See Before & After Pics!
LexFl replied to Christina760's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I was sleeved on July 17th 2012. I'm about 15 lbs away from my ultimate goal and down 125 lbs total. Best decision I ever made. -

I'm in the Orlando area and haven't met anyone who's been sleeved around here.had my surgery with dr Jawad this past July.
-
I am in Orlando so I did everything through his Orlando office and ORMC but same doctor I was fortunate enough that my insurance covered it.

I know there definitely have to be some!

Congrats on choosing to do the surgery! It's a great (although hard) adjustment. I'm 22 and was sleeved in July. I'm down 84 lbs as of this morning and feeling great. I definitely wish you the best of luck. I drank procomplex shakes. They are 60g of protein (you only absorb 40g at a time though so I had to still drink 2 a day) but the taste was the best of all the ones I tried. As far as clear liquids, I drank lots of broth and ate sugar free Popsicles. Good luck!!!

July 17th and down 84 lbs. It's been the best decision I've ever made

I was just sleeved on July 17th. I'm actually really surprised I'm here now and didn't chicken out... But so very glad I didn't! I was sleeved in Orlando by Dr. Jawad. They did an excellent job and have been there for all my questions but it would be nice to have someone who is going through the same thing at a similar time to talk to and help motivate each other. Any takers?

Sorry for the late response! I don't have a my fitness pal yet but I will look into getting it! I'd be more than happy to talk to you through here though until I do!

I'm 5 days out of surgery and feeling pretty okay. My biggest issue is finding a way to fight through the nagging pain of the staples in my belly button. The pain meds knock me out and I feel alright otherwise. Any advice on how to get a little more comfortable?

What Are People Drinking On High Protein Full Liquids/pureed Stage
LexFl replied to Jeniluv1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's called Pro Complex. 2 scoops of protein powder for 8-12 oz of water or skim/1% milk. I got the rich milk chocolate flavor. It tastes a good deal like chocolate milk but not sickeningly sweet like some shakes were. And not chalky at all. Definitely the best tasting of all the ones I tried leading up to this one -
Had My Gastric Sleeve On July The 20Th
LexFl replied to EvyV's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my gastric sleeve on July 17th! Also from Florida! I had mine done right here in Orlando though, I was fortunate to be able to do it close to home! The gas pain was the worst! But around day 4 it was pretty much gone and by day 5 I felt back to normal! I laid on my left side a lot and that helped with the gas pains! -
What Are People Drinking On High Protein Full Liquids/pureed Stage
LexFl replied to Jeniluv1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My nutritionist told me to look for protein shakes that we're high in protein and very low in carbs and sugar. The shake I chose has a full 60 grams of protein in it and only 1 gram of sugar and 5 grams of carbs. I take that in the morning and then the rest of the day I have broth or sugar free jello, apple sauce, things like that but only at "meal times". And then of course fill up on my water intake too! It's a lot to fit it all in but that high protein shake is way easier than having to drink 3 separate shakes a day for same protein amount! -
I'm 6 days out and the first couple days I had a problem but then my brother had a great idea! The smart water bottles are 23 oz. he bought one in a vending machine for me and brought it home. I slowly sipped that in the morning the refilled it with regular water and slowly sipped that til the evening. And about an hour and a half before bed I take a regular glass (about 16 oz) of water. That gets me close in range to daily water intake and allows me to go at a slow enough pace that it doesn't hurt or bother me.

I was sleeved on the 17th. The gassy feeling for me was the worst part! I lucked out and didn't have the nausea more than once but the gas was so painful! Hang in there and walk as much as possible it really helps. I also laid on my left side using pillows for comfort. That helped move the gas a bit. Today is the first day I feel a lot better and basically completely gas free. Good luck and I hope you feel better!

When the gas builds up for me I lay on my left side and curl my leg up. I put a pillow over my left arm and under my right and the same for my legs it helps a lot and relieves a ton of pressure. Hopefully that helps for you!
