  1. The reality is after getting the sleeve and starting back on normal food, even if you decided to indulge in a treat occassionaly you can only eat a very small amount, so it's not as though you can't have take away as a treat in future. We had fish and chips with salad at the beach yesterday. I got through about a third of a piece of grilled fish, had 4 chips and a couple of bits of salad and I was done. No you don't get the same mental satisfaction of eating a big takeaway meal but you are still satisfied. It's very much a mental challenge which I am hoping and am sure will get easier over time. 2. Sorry sent without finishing... Raw and cooked vege/salads Pasta, rice or Beans, cooked or cold in salads Fruit salad Yoghurt, plain low fat greek and add fruit or add to cereal Potato, sweet potato or corn, just one serve per day. Any combination of these meals 6 times per day x half to one cup. I am still only getting in about half a cup per sitting. Hope this helps...Does anyone else have some suggestions??? 3. Post op 4.5 weeks, my weight stalled the past 2 weeks and after talking with my dietician again it has started to go down again. Within a couple of days of starting to eat 6 small meals each day and at least one a glass of Water 15 minutes before each meal, I've already lost another kilo! It works!!! He assured me the more frequently I ate and included the right nutritional elements the more I would lose and the better I would feel getting all food groups covered. It's difficult, but definately worth it. If any of you who are post op are not talking to your dietician I recommend you do so until you have the regime down pat. If you eat less and don't get enough of the right types of food your weight loss may slow down and you may get sick over time due to lack of Vitamins and minerals. Sorry if ths sounds like a lecture, but this is really a learning process for all of us ad is an ongoing process. Good luck Sent from my iPad using VST

  7. Hi Lila, that's great that your surgeon is still your primary carer. It sounds like you are in good hands. They would surely have to sedate you to put the tube back in. As it's a means to an end I am sure you will cope fine. Is your family still on the Gold Coadt? Sent from my iPad using VST
  8. Hi Lila, glad to hear you have been transferred and are comfortable except for the noise. You will have to get some ear plugs! I found other rooms call buttons going off all night the noisest part of my hospital stay and I was on the maternity ward so they never stopped! I hope your test today go ok. Is your surgeon still looking after you? She mudt be devastated that this has happened. I had a nasal tube for the first 2 days and it was gross, so you are very brave having one for a month! You have such a positive attitude which I am sure will add your recovery. Take care and keep us posted. Kelli x Sent from my iPad using VST
  9. Had a long session with my dietician this morning and he says Optifast is the absolute best on the market for the balance of all the right ingredients. I am now 4 weeks post op and it has gone so quickly. From today I can eat any normal good quality food I wish, but have to significantly increase the frequency to 6 small meals a day just to get all of the nutrician. I am a bit daunted as to how I am going to get it all down, but still only talking about 1/2-1cup per meal.myweight has stabelized over past 2 weeks as I haven't been eating enough!!! Yes sounds strange doesn't it? Wish me luck as I am going to have to be organised. Dietician etimates I shoud lose about 3kgs per month which I would be happy with. Sent from my iPad using VST
  10. Hi Lila, Not great that you have to remain in hospital, but thank goodness that you can move into the public system. Where will you go to and when? The sooner the better I suppose from a financial point of view. How do they fix the leak, or will it repair itself over the next few weeks? How strange that the doctors cannot work out why it has happened. Will your bariatric specialist still look after you at the public hospital? Please let us know whe you are up for visitors, as Shelley and I will arrange to come and meet you. Keep your chin up, the worst is now over. Sent from my iPad using VST
  11. Lila, good luck for your test tomorrow. Let us know how it goes please.
  12. Lila I am so sorry you had the complications as they are so rare! You are just unlucky I suppose. Did the sleeve leak or was it something else. It's a bugger you are self funding and ate now hugely out of pocket. Just think of all the weight you ate losing and focus on getting well again. If you are on the Gold Coast for a while maybe I could come and visit you? Take care and keep us posted. We've all been worried and thinking about you.
  13. Goodness me Lila, you certainly do things in a bug way! Glad to hear you are coming out the other side. Did you actually have a leak? Is that what caused the complications? Take care, cheers kelli
  14. I can't see why not. I flew to Melbourne at 15 days after. No issues, not that I even thought about it.
  15. Are you allowed jelly this early when you are still on fluids? I wasn't allowed that until puree stage. Varies from person to person. I have been able to have yoghurt, but haven't really tried other sweets. I have always preferred savory so it wouldn't bother me too much. Sent from my iPad using VST
  16. Hi Jules, I am glad it all went smoothly for you. Many of us have been worried about Lila as we aven't heard from her. I hope she is ok now and they complications weren't too serious. Sent from my iPad using VST
