  1. Hi Sue, you were lucky to go to the final. I am certainly finding socialising and eating out a bit of a challenge, but am coping ok. If I am going to have one glass of wine, I do it when I first arrive, then wait before eating in small portions. I am trying to eat all required food groups each day, but don't always get everything in. Today I had a piece of gluten free fruit toast and banana for Breakfast, a skinny hot chocolate from Max Brenner, chicken salad for lunch and what was left over for pm tea, a tomato juice, 6 raw peanuts and 1/4 cup lamb with cooked tomato, onion and capsicum. I will have some rockmelon at about 8.30pm for supper. Based on today I didn't reach min 3 serves of grainy carbs or 2 serves of dairy. I did get enough Protein, vege, fruit and fats. It sure is complicated these days!!
  2. Congratulations on reaching a major goal. It's all relative to each persons situation and every milestone reached is worth celebrating. I've lost 18kg in 6 weeks including 3kg pre op. I will be very happy if I achieve similar results as you after 12 weeks. I expect to lose about 3kg's a month, so should get to 23kgs by then at least. I do feel I've had a pretty easy time of it all compared to others, but each day is still a challenge to change my eating habits for good. Quantity and fast eating are my biggest challenges and the sleeve certainly doesn't allow either.
  3. Sorry didn't finish. Writing on iPad in car on ay to the Gold Coast...it's a bit bumpy! As I was saying we seem to be in between new people being sleeved at the moent. Not sure when the next ones are due but I think there are a couple on pre-op diet now. I am excited this morning as I have reached my second major weight loss goal. First was to crack 100kg which I did just after surgery and the second was to to crack 90kg which I did today after stalling at 90kg for the past 2 weeks. 89.6kg!!! Next goal is 79kg by the time I see the surgeon again on 14 December.
  4. This forum has been a bit quiet over the past little while. I suppose school holidays and the long weekend mean everyone is off enjoying life which is great. I think there s also a bit of a lull now
  5. Hi Directec, yes I have Coeliac Disease diagnosed when I was 13, 37 years ago. I was sleeved on 14 August in Brisbane, Australia. I have been consulting a dietician beforehand and since. Once you are back on solid food after 4-6 weeks, it is important that you have at least a certain amount of each food group and grainy carbs are some of the most important, especially to ward off constipation. Luckily in Australia we can buy grainy (GF) fresh bread from supermarkets. I also eat brown rice, brown rice porridge, GF Pasta, corn and rice cakes crackers, Beans and legumes. I have to eat each day: Min 1 Protein Min 3 grainy carbs Min 3 light vege Min. 2 dairy Min. 1 fats (nuts, avocado, olive oil) Min. 3 fruit Min 1 starchy vege like potato (optional) To eat all of this, i need to spread it over 6 small meals a day of approx 1/2 - 3/4 cup each With the sleeve you and still eat any healthy good quality food, but in smaller portions. Coeliac should not be an issue if you plan ahead. Good luck
  6. I was sleeved the same day as you and this is what I ate today: Breakfast - 1/2 cup macadamia muesli with low fat milk Am tea - banana on 2 brown rice crisp bread lunch - 1/2 boiled egg, 50 grams cooked chicken breast, raw green beans, 30gms tasty cheese, 2 x brown rice crisp bread, 1/4 small avocado Afternoon tea - low fat cappucino dinner - Small gluten free beef pie Supper - 1cup Blueberries and watermelon Pretty typical. Lots of variety to get in all food groups in at least minimum quantities. Impossible to get enough nutrition unless you are eating often. Hope this helps. TIP - i was struggling with timing drinking around food. dietician suggested i drink a glass of Water (200ml average) 10-15mins before eating ad don't stress if you then don't drink again half hour after eating. This way you will drink at least 6 glasses of water eat day before eating and you won't get thirsty!

    Weight Gain And Stall.

I am going through same thing. Lost 17kgs so far. Sleeved on 14 August, but stalled weeks 3-4, lost another 2kgs, then have stalled again for 2 weeks. Talking to detician, it's most important to eat 6 small meals per day to get in all nutrition you need and to not use protein shakes now as too low calories. I have to eat MINIMUM of 2 servings fruit, 3-4 of grain foods (bread etc), 1 serve fat (avocado, olive oil etc), 1 serving protein, 3-4 servings of light vege and 1 serving of starchy vege (potato, corn etc) and 2 dairy serves, EVERY DAY and more is better, but all depends what I can get down. The more variety and frequency of eating the better for weight loss. If you don't eat min of this plan you will get sick and tired and weight loss will slow down. The less you eat the more your body thinks its being deprived and will fight against it be holding into weight. Hope this helps.
  8. Hi Kristi, I hope you recover quickly and can get your sleeve before Christmas.
  9. Ladies are you taking multi vitamins? Your body is still repairing itself for the first month, so probably ok to be a bit tired at the moment, although thankfully I had amazing energy from day I got home from hospital. Nutrition especially protein, water and multi's pretty important.
  10. No luck trying to find out about Lila from her surgeon's office, Gunnadah Hospital where we think she works or Tweed Heads Hospital. No-one knows a Lila so not even sure if that is her real name. We will just ave to wait to hear from her.
  11. I phoned Tweed Hospital tonight, but without a surname they couldn't help. Then phoned Gunnedah Hospital where Lila works, but woman on ward I spoke to doesn't know her. I will try again tomorrow and if no luck, will call Dr Silverman's office and see if they will give me an update on Lila. Will let you know how I get on.
  12. Has anyone heard from Lila at Tweed Heads Hospital. Starting to really worry about her. Should I phone the hospital tomorrow and ask after her??
  13. It's pretty good really as long as it's mixed with 200ml of Water, otherwise too thin and watery. For flavour you can blend with ice and frozen berries or half a banana, or a shot of espresso coffee. YUM
  14. Optifast is meant to be the most balanced nutritionally. Perhaps replace one or two meals a day to start with?
  15. Hi Nessa, I get the hiccups too, mainly at night when i eat that one or two spoons too many. Susie, it's good that you are not yet getting any discomfort, but I wonder if you are eating enough? Are you talking to a dietician? If not I strongly suggest you do so, as it's important to get enough Protein to aid in surgery recovery. You shouldn't be worrying about over eating at this point. It's virtually impossible. Just focus on eating a variety of purees regularly to increase overall calories and lots of Water. Good luck
