Sounds like fun Lissa. What will you wear?
-
So glad you are feeling a little better. Every day it will get easier. Regards drinking, just try lots of different things and I found cold drinks easier to tolerate. You don't need to worry about counting calories, so even a chocolate milk is allowed at this stage as you will only drink a small amount and hopefully you will enjoy it.

Sue you look lovely and very happy.

Ditdee some of your symptoms are probable quite normal , but if you are concerned about possible infection, maybe you should go back and see your doctor. I am sure you will be fighting fit in no time and loving your sleeve. In the meanwhile, try and relax if possible. Don't stress if you cannot drink a litre of fluid yet. Your tummy is still swollen. The important thing is to sip often. I found cold water easier to get down too in the early days and you can also flavour it to make it more palatable. Good luck and I am sure you will be fighting fit in no time.

Thanks Lissa for your wise words of wisdom which I greatly respect, especially given your profession. I have had a brief look at the veterans threads and will spend more time there reading. Lots of people find 5:2 works for them at this stage and I have as well, so need to get back onto that regime as suggested by the dietician. Yes the job is fantastic but I am surrounded by amazing food and alcohol and am put into tempting situations every single day. I do agree it's got to be a conscious effort to resist. I may also eat or drink before going to some of these events so I am not hungry to start with. I just have to be strong and keep my eye on the prize. So close and yet so far!!!

I hear you Sue. Previously it hadn't been too much of an issue but with work now, there is fabulous food around constantly and it's such a temptation. I will check out the veterans forum as Misty has suggested.
-
Thanks Misty I will do that. I am also finding that quite often I get less restriction and am able to eat more than I should be able to. Especially if it's at a buffet or a plated 3 course meal spread over a period of time. I still need to be careful.

Welcome to all the newbies and hi to the veterans. I've been a bit quieter on the site lately. I am now 16 months post op and only a few kgs off my personal goal BUT I am struggling somewhat as I just started working back in hospitality in a 5 star hotel on the Gold Coast and I am entertaining and travelling constantly. It's even worse at the moment pre Christmas. I have actually put on 2 kilos in 3 weeks, so I will have to be a lot more vigilant in future. It's not that I can eat larger quantities, but I am eating and drinking naughty things more often. Thank goodness I had already lost 37kgs before starting the job.

Welcome frogfeet, welcome and congratulations on your success to date. I agree that the puree stage was the pits, but it got better afterwards. Enjoy your little bit of seafood on Christmas Day and if you wait a while you may even fit in a tablespoon of plum pudding and custard!

mGood luck spudsy. I hope it all went smoothly and you enjoy the ride down.

Very happy to hear that sharing our experiences has been of help. It sounds like you are doing really well. Enjoy all of the little wins along the way and please keep us posted on your progress.

Welcome to the forum and all the best for the 10th. Your worries are perfectly normal so try not to worry. If you obtain as much information as possible it will better prepare you fir the journey ahead. I can honestly say I wasn't hungry for a long time post op. Now 15 months later and 38kgs down, I do get genuinely hungry if I leave it too long between meals, but it's easy to satisfy the feeling by consuming a small amount. Any other questions, just ask away as someone on here will have experienced the same and should be able to share what they know. Good luck

I know weird isn't it? I must admit though, j still love the compliments, especially from people I have't seen in a while.

That's so exciting Misty. It's interesting what we sleevers get excited about. I had to buy new bras again the other day. Now a 12D down from 18D. I also bought a new pair of work pants yesterday which are a 12. I fitted into some 10's but felt more comfortable in the 12. This losing weight business has been expensive, but I am very happy with my new wardrobe and I can finally buy things with confidence. You are looking so fabulous. Enjoy your weekend.

I am definitely see the difference!

You have done so well. I think it's time for a new profile pic!!

Misty that's hilarious!!!

Hi Sue, I am coming to Sydney Monday 9-Wednesday 11, but work has me fully booked this first trip. Sorry, we will meet next time, even if I come down a day early.
-
Misty, the bike riding s a great idea. It would be good for you to also do some weights training.which helps build muscle. I am glad to hear you enjoyed the party and it's strange how high heel shoes are more comfortable now. I rarely wore them before as they hurt but no they don't bother me and I will be wearing them every day at work from tomorrow. Another little benefit of being lighter.
-
Well we've moved to the Gold Coast today and friends have offered us their house right on Mermaid Beach for the first few weeks. Sitting here watching the waves roll in and contemplating this new adventure in life. I seriously doubt i would be doing this now if I had not lost the weight. I feel good and confident and excited. Hope everyone else is having a great weekend.
-
Lissa your profile pic has disappeared. Is that intentional?
-
Wow Misty, unrecognisable. I cringe now when I look back at pre sleeve photos. Mind you I avoided having them taken whenever possible.
-
Thanks Sue, Starting my new job on the Gold Coast on Monday and I am making my first sales trip to Sydney in early December. Once I know my schedule, I will see if there is any free time for us to meet.
-
Welcome to this thread and congratulations on your upcoming sleeve surgery. As you will have seen, this thread has always been very positive and we all support each other. You will probably have learnt a lot from everyone else's experiences here too and information is key. There is really very little negative relating to getting and living with a sleeve. For the majority of us the benefits far put weigh and day to day challenges. Enjoy your rude down and trust me, this thing works!! I look forward to hearing about your progress.

Love your new photo Misty, you look lovely
