  1. Lila! If your sticking around then I def want to come and visit you!! I am sorry to hear of your leak but you are so right, they have found it, they can fix it now and you can get better. I have read that no one can lose weight with the feed stuff as it's exact calories that you need :-( but hey- your body needs all of them to recover, so this is a good thing. And I totally agree with you, not having this surgery is a far worse option. If I wasn't having this surgery, I would sitting on my couch with a bucket of KFC, chocolate in the fridge and large bag of chips in the cupboard....and none of them would have made it past the night!! Then I would go to bed upset, sick from all the food and dreaming of a day far far away when I would be thin and would never do this to myself. You can only live like that for so long before your body starts to pack it in!! Sleep well my love and hopefully I can visit you soon xx
  2. Cookeeeeez!!!!!! You crack me up!
  3. Aussiegirl, wow congratulations on hitting the 70's!! I haven't been there since my teens! Lol and to think I used to complain that I was too heavy???? Thank you for your words of wisdom, so great to hear from you! I am definitely ready for the changes, I think as hard as it can seem sometimes the pre-op is a wonderful opportunity to get your head around liquids, Proteins and I've been practicing slow sipping lol. Currently making an excellent chicken broth to store for when I get home. I am making lasagna, pork dishes and vege spag for when I'm away (just incase it's longer than anticipated) and trying to get the house in prize home shap for tomorrow when the Ex MIL comes to stay with my girls- that's more nerve racking than anything!!!???? Again congrats and thanks for loggin on an letting is know how you are going!????
  4. Do you think she will get the energy of a child from living off child? :-P
  5. Wow Shell! Looking gorgeous!! Great stats too...I'll be keeping them in mind when I'm at hospital tomorrow!
  6. You guys are best support system a girl could have!! No one understands the way I am feeling like you guys do! Thank you all so much for your positive thoughts and your personal experiences. Everything each of you has made total sense and I am so fortunate to have you all there to lean on, I am very blessed! Julie, I can completely understand how you are feeling but don't feel guilty, Lila wouldnt want that! You can't control how how your operation went, nor can you have any control over how Lila's went. Thank you all again, you have made me feel less anxious already...love u all xxxx
  7. Ok guys...tomorrow, almost exactly 24 hours till I'm to be at the hospital. I'm starting to get really nervous and even doubt if this is a good idea. Complications, people regretting their surgery, long term consequences, I even read an article yesterday that there is a whole group of 10, 15 and 20+ year sleevers that do not comment or go to these forums as they have put all their weight back on and more and there is no longer anything they can do about it because they are stuck with only 15% of their original stomach. Then I read one woman's blog where she has not been able to stop wasting away because she can't eat enough and is now facing daily injections of vitamins and the threat of organ failure. Yes I am having a moment of freaking out!!! I have made some stupid decisions in the past that have lead to long term consequences and I starting to second guess myself and wonder of this is just another stupid decision?! I know, I sound crazy right now. I am ashamed to say that Lila's experience has gotten to me a little (sorry Lila) and I'm not sure I could be as strong and brave as she is!
  8. Yes, yes, yes and yes! The nightie one made me laugh...I did that just the other day!
  9. I second that!!!!! Thanks Puppyphat!!
  10. Thanks Cookeeeeez! I will finally start loggin on myfitness pal when I get sleeved! Lol.
  11. Oh my goodness Lila...u certainly don't do things by halves!! I am truely sorry for all the pain and suffering you have been dealing with. Those must have been some terrifying moments there for you I'm sure. I wish you the best of luck for your leak test tomorrow, sending positive healthy energy that you will heal enough over night to have a good outcome tomorrow. I am so sad to hear of the financial burden as well- but u mustn't think about that! This is the time for you to take deep breaths and believe that your body is strong enough to pull through this. You are a strong woman and although these are extremely difficult times for you, I know that you will get through this. I would loveto be able to visit you as I am on the coast, however I am going to Brisbane tomorrow night to have my sleeve on Tuesday. I will be thinking of you and you are in my prayers.
  12. That's true! If my team ends up in the AFL Grand Final I want to go! Sounds selfish but I love them with a massive passion and the way the played collingwood on Friday makes me believe that we have a bloody good chance to be GF :-)
  13. Question....has anyone flown after surgery? Like around 18 days after? 2 hour flight each way.
  14. Scotty I think u can get it cheaper online and the prices vary quite a lot at different pharmacies. I get mine from Amal as it convenient more than anything. Coffee is really nice and so are the chocolate bars. Heaps of fluids as I'm sure you already know- but if you can handle herbal teas these help a lot for the tummy grumbles. I personally like the lemon and ginger from twinnings as it settles my tummy when I'm absolutely starving.
  15. Excellent Susie! I bet your glad to be home! Thanks to you and Shell, I agree with you both it's not enough. I will be in Tuesday morning and home Wednesday- I have to travel from gold coast to Brisbane and back again on Tuesday, I would rather stay in at least another night before travelling home again. I'm starting to get very nervous. Asking myself is this real??! I got all my "affairs" in order the other day...just incase. Now to clean the crap out of my home and organise food for the girls. My ex mother in law is staying at my house and looking after them. I think that is making me very nervous too!! Lol. She is one of these types who has a separate formal dining and lounge room that no one is every allowed to enter- i remeber going in there for some privacy to breast feed my daughter years ago and when my partner saw me in there he nearly passed out from the panic! No one had ever sat on the lounge before. Her home is like a prize home! Lol
  16. Everyone staying in hospital for so many days makes me concerned that I am only in for 1 night!! I want to stay longer and am happy to pay to do so! Anyone else stay for only 1 night?

    Dying On Pre-Op Diet

Stick to it!! There are other threads going at the moment where the person has stuck to their diet, gone under and the surgeon wasn't happy with the amount of liver shrinkage...so stitched them back up and wouldn't continue! My biggest fear is waking up in pain and finding out that thu dust go ahead with the surgery! I was supposed to do a 31 days diet but they bought my surgery forward so I'm getting sleeved on the 11th September. I'm currently at day 12 of 16 and am starving!!! I'm light headed and all that- but I do not want to be opened and closed without having the surgery done. You can do this!!!!!!!!
  18. Oh and lemon and ginger tea is a godsend to settle my hungry tummy and my very unhappy body at the moment. I will be keepin it stocked post op for nausea! Twinnings band is the best.
  19. Thanks so much Shell! Your words are invaluable! Lol, I thought about the food staying in the stomach and getting caught! As a surgeon, I'm certain they are able to tell a stomach that has been on a liquid diet and one that hasn't!! I won't take my laptop, but want to take my phone- hope it will be safe! Must remember to sync it the night before....just incase!! I am on liquids for 4 weeks after so good to know that OF is still tolerable afterwards as I will have left-overs. So good to hear that you are doing so well! And I too am hope Lila is going well. Hopefully she will be able to log on soon and let us know how she went.
  20. WOW!! Thank you! That answers that one about the last meal. I didn't think it woul be ok...now I know! See- I would prefer to be in for a few nights. I don't think 1 night is sufficient enough when one has had 85% of their stomach removed! Grannies undies- good advice! I'm concerned about phone and laptop though as tey have a stern warning not to take them for being stolen. Thank you so much for your input! Hope you are feeling good!
