  1. ....and accidentally pressed the send button! I have found having the Water bottle with me constantly is a good reminder to keep sipping. It sits on the couch with me, in the car, on my bed side table, when I go for a walk, when I'm studying....everywhere. I just refresh the water when it gets a bit low. Hope this helps, hopefully I will be able to eat a little more. I find myself snacking too much and not eating proper 'meals' which is only increasing my calorie consumption so I need to cut that out. Oh yeah, and mashed veges is also a good one! :-)
  2. Hey Susie, not sure that I can help as only 3 weeks yesterday, but I am struggling with eating, only a small amount, not even 1/2 cup and I feel aweful and so full, can be painful and lasts almost an hour. Then I feel like I'm starving, I have faint rumbles remenisant of hunger pangs, but eat a little and feel sick again. It's constantly uncomfortable. I have been sticking with the optifast shake in the morning and have also bought the dessert for the evenings. That way I cover the consistent craving for chocolate and know I'm getting more vitamins in too. I haven been pureeing canned stock pot ( something I would have never eaten before this!) and refried beans and heating and putting them in little 180-250ml containers I have purchased. Then I just take them out of the fridge and heat them up for lunch/dinner. Cheese sticks for snacks too. I have bought a pump water bottle and refill it, putting 5ml of fruit juice concentrate in it (water is too harsh on bella banana and this seems to soften it for her). I carry this bottle everywhere and sit it next to me
  3. Hi everyone, thank u for your support the last couple of days. Today was a much better day, despite my beloved Hawks going down to the Swans. I guess it was only a matter of time before I felt the slight depression that others had experienced. I am a very independent person and do everything myself, so I guess I have struggled with not being able to do stuff that needs to be done. The 3 months wasnt compulsory, my doc and I agreed it would be best to deal with some issues before getting sleeved as they are directly related to my weight gain. I would try again but not with the same psychologist. That's no good Scotty, hope u sell the car quickly. Sleep well everyone, we finally have some rain here on the coast tonight- lovely sound to fall asleep too :-)
  4. Cookeeeeez what has happened in your shitty day?
  5. Thanks ladies, I finally scrapped the bottom of the barrel and had my ex brother in law install the TV. I feel like I have had a binge today, obviously not anywhere near pre sleeved binge, but have eaten all day an all the wrong foods. Today has just been a complete write off. I didn't hear anything today about the incision so I am taking it as no news is good news. I am now worried about the amount of food I have eaten today. I have felt very full but have not been physically sick. I don't want to cause a leak. Why oh why do I do this to myself? Here I was thinking how well I was doing, not craving, not regretting the surgery, not getting any depression.....think I was just counting my chickens before they hatch. Obviously still have some food issues to sort out :-(
  6. Omg, what an emotional day I'm having today. I'm so teary, crying at the drop of a hat! I've cried for Jill Meagher, I've cried because my children are away for the next 10 days and it's so quiet here. Ive cried because I have an infection in one of the inscisions and im still awaiting tests to see if its golden staph. I've cried because I just bought a new 55" TV and although I have begged, pleaded and even tried to pay people, I cannot get anyone to help me carry it so it's stuck in the back of my car. I've cried over songs on the radio...and it's not even 10am!! Oh I'm a mess today.
  7. Congratulations Nessa! Wow 24kg gone and never to return! Well done. I think of you Lila every day and I pray that you are just concentrating on getting healthy again and will check in with us when you are feeling a bit better. I hope your recovery is going smoothly and soon you will be well enough to receive visitors as I would dearly love to see you. Take care xx
  8. Thanks Cookeeeeez! I thought a platter would be better too. I think if I fuss around being a good host then my lack of food intake won't be so noticed. I'll tell them I have been nibbling all morning. Lol. I have not been to see a dietician as yet so not sure if I'll be on puréed foods or soft foods.
  9. Hi ladies, a little of track from current conversations but I need to tap into your wisdom and awesome advice! My beloved team- Hawthorn have just made it to the grand final next week and my original plan was to fly down to watch the game but unfortunately I can't :-( I am however organising a get together to watch the game either at my place or a venue. I was more leading to my place as I don't really want to pay ridiculous amounts of money for a lunch I cannot eat. So if I was to cater, what could I add for myself that won't be too far from what everyone else is eating? I will be 2 weeks and 4 days post op. thinking a range of finger foods. Only 2 people there will know I've been sleeved. Appreciate your advice!!!!
  10. Well my experience was when I initially woke up I felt horrid and had nausea but at the same time felt detached from it as you are still coming out of anaesthetic. But everyone is on board willing to give u all the meds u need. I had morphine for the first day and then just Panadol from there on out. I stopped taking Panadol a few days ago and I am one week post op today. If u have had a c section it's discomfort like that. It's mainly when u move u feel a pulling sensation but most of that has now gone too. It's not too dramatic, more just uncomfortable. I'm sure it's different for everyone but I wouldn't say the pain is unbearable. You'll be fine, don't stress :-)
  11. Good luck to both of you!! Positive thoughts your way!!
  12. Hi Emma, I thought u may have been an Aussie as you referred to kilos rather than pounds. I should have told you about this thread- but I am glad u found us! Good luck with your surgery!!! Check in with us when you can, let us know how u are doing :-)
  13. Yes they are itchy, the strips were irritating my skin so I had to take them off. I roll over and it feels a little less secure now and I'm worried I will scratch in my sleep! Funny Puppyphat, I know exactly what you mean. Shell I am doing ok thanks. Tomorrow (should I say today- its 1:43am!) will be one week post op. I seem to be tolerating eating so far. I feel instant discomfort and sometimes a sharp pain when food enters my stomach (Bella Banana) but it subsides just as quickly which is good. Having at least one optifast a day, liquid supplements and liquid veges and such. Water is so harsh on Bella Banana but green tea is soothing, so I am drinking lots of that. Using hydralyte ice blocks just to stave off dehydration. Getting in my 30 mins walk every day, praying I don't get a leak- the usual!
  14. Nessa, that is fantastic that people are noticing a positive change in you...one of many more to come I'm sure! Shell....what can I say....gorgeous!!!! You must feel amazing:-) Puppyphat....whooooo hoooooo!! Size 12!!! I bet you are just strutting your stuff around the work place now! Lol. Welcome Donna! I hope u get lots of great advice from here. Ask heaps of questions- everyone on here is a wealth of knowledge and are amazing people too!!! Lila I hope you are doing well and your progress is positive, have been thinking of you! x I have just taken the steri strips of and think one maybe either irritated or at the start of an infection. Washing with betadine wash to keep it at bay. Sounds stupid but I now feel like if I move I will open them up!!! Lol.
  15. Wow Emma you must be getting excited/nervous! 5.5kg isn't too bad. I was pretty much the same as you at this stage. I drank heaps of green tea in the last few days and only had the 3 shakes a day, nothing else. Lots of water, green tea and some light walking and you should be fine. I was a total loss of 6.8kg and surgeon said all was fine. Good luck!!
  16. Yes me too! I will give what I can. On a side note I am home today. Ex MIL bought over fresh sheets and made my bed and my girlfriend heated up some broth for me to have before I have a sleep. My girlfriend and I have decided to call my sleeve Bella banana. Lol, I think it's kinda cute! So Bella Banana and I are having our broth then are off to have a sleep!
  17. I love the old jaffel iron! Do they still make them? We would always have egg in ours, or cheese- ooey gooey cheese! Yum! I am staying in an extra night tonight at the hospital- doc agreed it was a good idea as I am going home to just me and my girls so needed a little bit more rest. To me this is like tryin to figure out a whole new body! I can't tell when I'm full, thirsty, I can't even tell when I need to go to the toilet either- once in there I go fine but no real sensation before- weird. I can't sleep at the moment, have had no trouble up until now- body want to roll onto the side and I am normally a tummy sleeper so feeling restless and afraid I will hurt myself if I do roll over in my sleep. Lila, so glad ur doc can look after you at a public hospital. This must give u a sense of relief, albeit a small one. Things will get better for you, your body will heal and your health will return, I have absolute faith! I can already tell your personality is coming back to full force- its hard to keep a good woman down though!!! Take care, we are all thinking of you on here! xx
  18. Hi all!! Well I am now part of the sleeved posse and thought I would check in with you all after all your beautiful well wishes. Doc said op went really well, they had to repair a hernia as well but that seemed no drama, just made the op two hours instead of one. Woke up in heaps of pain and nausia despite all the drugs they pumped in me, but this has now settled. They kept me in icu for a few hours because my heart rate was dropping to under 50- but I assured them that has been my resting rate rate since I was born with a hole in my heart. Been trying to get some liquids down but everything tastes so incredibly sweet!! So that's no very comfortable. Anyway I'm falling asleep as in writing this so I'll sign off.
