ibehere10 got a reaction from Diana Prince in Has Anyone Developed Acid Reflux Since Surgery?
Guess I am one of the lucky ones, no acid problems as of yet, almost 6 weeks out. So grateful, my poor Mom suffered terrible with reflux most of her life. Hope you get passed this quickly.

Hi everyone when I started this journey on September 3 2012 I was 382 pounds and heading towards death - the food was killing me.
I am now about 10 1/2 months on from the surgery. I had a leak. Spent two months in hospital and almost died more times than I care to remember.
But today I am doing great! I have lost 180 pounds and am at my surgeons goal weight. I still want to lose about another 20-30 pounds but I am so happy and thankful for where I am now!! This is the "new" or "true" me
It has been a difficult but an amazing time. Hope you're all going well and are similarly loving your sleeve!
Cheers Melissa

NGM- sounds like your body is just going through an adjustment time. You are doing such a great job!!! It's hard to not get frustrated when your doing everything right. Put your scale away and just focus on your measurements. Have you taken them lately? With your increased exercise you muscle mass has got to be changing.
Measure everything.

I "ate my way up " to 51 BMI, now 48 and I still have to wait for my "reward" where I may have serious health problems and complications or even die...
I think I'm from another planet because the word "reward" means something totally different to me

I'm stalled.. I've been stalled for a while and as frustrating as it is I almost wanted to just stay where I am because I'm not unhappy with my weight. I feel comfortable now but I want the number on the scale to be less...I haven't been as on top of my Protein and exercise like I should be so here I am.. Tracking and exercising once again..

1 lb from 60 lb loss. its moving again. i am claiming this number. sometimes the scale will trick me and be back up but i am claiming this. my size 14's are on my hips lets see what happens next week this time.

Yes, it's a whole grapefruit....sliced. Should have edited that before I just copied and pasted.
And remember folks, muscle weighs more than fat and a pound of muscle is MUCH SMALLER than a pound of fat. So although the scale may not be budging, it's because you are losing fat and replacing it with muscle. But the muscle is smaller in volume than the fat and therefore your clothes are more loose and folks think you are "losing weight"....when technically you are losing fat. It's a good thing...except for the scale part.
You all are doing great!!

Hi Fellow September Sleevers!
It's been a while since I last posted. On the 17th, it will have been 8 months since my surgery. I commenced at 245lbs and am currently at 180lbs... which I am super thankful to God for!
HOWEVER, for the past several months, I must confess, that I have been eating everything my heart desires or more like I've been eating everything my "anxiety hunger monster" has wanted me to eat to relieve just that...my anxiety. (Chocolate, potato chips, bread, regular cheese, fruit by the foot (don't ask..lol) regular ice cream, rice, just to name a few)...
I have been taking Cymbalta for generalized anxiety disorder for almost a year now and I remember sharing with my surgeon and nutritionist that my anxiety was one of my main reasons that at my peak I weighed 245lbs.
NOW, don't get me wrong, for the past several months it almost feels like I've been living that impossible wish I used to wish back at 245lbs... "Why can't I just eat whatever I want and not gain a pound?"... Thus far, it's been pretty amazing, but I must admit that even though I am living in this most fortunate situation currently, I know eventually this will all bite me on the ass.
The reality of my day-to-day is that I obsess that everything is going to make me fat, that I'm gonna end up being 245lbs again and that I will always resent myself for being so close to my goal weight of 165lbs, for sacrificing so much pre-op and post-op for about 3 months... and now I'm just letting myself go!!!
I'm so incredibly sad and I only know how to make myself happy with the one thing I can control and that is what I eat; food, my drug to make me feel better when all else is out of my hands.
For reference, since February of this year, I have applied to 20 law schools of which I've been rejected by damn near all of and am waiting to hear from 4 still. I am currently working in a job place that I loathe, in addition I recently had to put a complain with the Dept. of Labor, Division of Human Rights for harassment and discrimination. I am currently looking for a new job; that in itself is a job. I got dumped by my boyfriend in January and have had a string of shitty encounters with a few men that were more like frogs. Lol ... and well, I guess the worst of all is that I realized that I don't truly completely love myself and perhaps my circumstances aren't as bad as I think but my shitty self-esteem doesn't allow me to look past all of it and be positive and optimistic. Basically my whole outlook is fucked up.
I digress though, I'm totally scared to gain weight at all even if it's one pound, I stress eat not so good things to compensate but then I end up hating myself even more. It's a vicious cycle.
Believe me when I say that I am so thankful for this tool (my new tummy)... I just really need to learn how to love it, love me and take care of both of us.
Btw, I used to go to the gym, but recently I was diagnosed with some type of vertigo and when I get agitated physically, I get super lightheaded and dizzy. =(
... (and no I'm not no where near being pregnant) lol
Most of you will probably not read this whole post, but if you did, thank you. I pray for us all.
Please share if you've dealt with similar situations like mines.
Thanks and Good Night.

So I had surgery December 18 2012. I wish I had done it sooner! I've never been happier or more energetic!
In the beginning:
190lbs (185 pre-surgery)
Size 14 (tight)
Blood pressure 155/125
Now:
152lbs
Size 6-8
Blood pressure 130/80
I've lost 38 lbs and only have 27 more to go!
The best part there is the blood pressure! I celebrated like crazy at the dr when I weighed in and even crazier when she told me my BP! There is hope I won't die young!
I don't have much problems with sagging skin as I'm only 25. In fact - my stretch marks on my stomach have all but disappeared after using the scar treatment for my scars on my stretch marks as well.
I haven't been eating perfectly the whole time, so the weight has come off slowly but surely. I work on a farm, so I don't have to work out (although I do push ups, planks and leg lifts when I have the time) and I think the manual labor has helped considerably.
Anyways! I've attached before and after pictures! Because I know we all like those!
The before pic was December 2nd and the after was a few weeks ago at ~155 in a size 6 fendi dress I bought with no hope that it would ever fit me... It's a little loose!
Hopefully some people find this post encouraging

ibehere10 reacted to gmanbat in Help! I'm soooo very afraid of blood clots.
Sorry for the multiple posts, folks. I just felt that this subject needed to be addressed due to the high anxiety level about it. Anyone else feel free to post what you can find and make observations.
Not to minimise any of this but all operations carry the risk of blot clots, especially hip replacements and ones that make you sedentary after the operation.

I've had just the opposite experience. Instead a bad cold turning into bronchitis every few months as usual, I've been sick only once in the year since I was sleeved and it was much milder and shorter than usual.

ibehere10 reacted to goofygurl in Second time worked
HI, I had my sleeve on April 22, 2013 in Christiana, Delaware. I say that second time worked, because in April 2007, I had the lapband and it had to be removed with emergency surgery 36 hours later because of a tear in my esophagus. It took me 5 years to seriously look at bariatrics as an option again. I am so thankful I did. My weight had skyrocked to 303 lbs in August 2012. Between the classes and the two weeks of Optifast pre-op I was down to 266 on the day of surgery. Today I weighed myself and I am down to 255. My pain initially was terrible along with lot of nausea, I did however have alot of scar tissue that had to be removed and my surgery was twice as long as the normal sleeve. I can tolerate liquids well, applesauce, cream of wheat and yogurt. Trying something new every day. No more than an ounce at a time, but that is fine with me. I didn't believe it in class, but now I am living it.and it is so true. I will continue to post with updates. This will also help keep me on track..
