    Carbonated Beverage 10 Weeks Out

I have not had surgery yet but was already told that CARBONATED beverages were off limits and they suggested I start now so I can get use to living without carbonated drinks. Good thing for me is that I rarely drink soda anyway so it is fine. I was also told that CAFFINE will be allowed but very limited and not for the first few months after surgery. That will be the issue for me, I love my morning coffee. However I have read many posts on here where people have stated they had no taste for coffee post surgery anyway so we will see how it goes for me!
  2. My surgeon told me that the weight that is used is the weight at my first consult with her! Check with your doctors though to be sure!!

Thanks for answering as I had no idea what it meant!!

    Stall Advice Needed

    Congrats Kristie!!
  5. For me it was my surgeon who wanted the sleep study not the insurance. My insurance only wanted a psyche eval. They approved my surgery one week after the psyche. My surgeon wanted the sleep study, the endoscopy ( both are done and cleared) and tomorrow I have the cardiac clearance. My doc said she takes no chances and wants to make sure her patients are as healthy as possible for the surgery and also that she is aware of any health problems so she can prepare to deal with them and not get any surprises!

    Sleep Study In Progress

I was able to sleep and slept fairly well. I didn't think I would wilt that wire thing up my nose but the teck said I woul get use to it in an hour and she was right, thank God!! Fortunately I do not have sleep apnea!! I am very grateful I don't have to deal with the cpap machine! Good luck everyone!
  7. I actually have the stones they took out of my mom's gallbladder many years ago. Strange thing to be sure but works as a interesting conversation piece !!
  8. Great job!! What a transformation!!
  9. Ask your doctor before hand so you know exactly what is required and you can be ready. Different docs have different requirements. I had my endoscope today and they said all piercings, regardless of where, had to be removed and all they were doing is going down my throat, lol.

    I Want To Cry... :(

I am going to barix clinic and they gave me all the requirements of both my insurance, which was only a psyche eval, and the surgeons requirements which were endoscope, sleep study and cardiac clearance. I am glad that my doc had these requirements as it ensures that I am healthy enough to deal with the surgery and the recovery process. Hang tight Gelen's change, it will happen you just have to follow the rules set. Good luck!
  11. I would assume you would want to use SF pudding mixes so you are not getting a lot of extra calories. I like sugar free pudding and would think it would work just as well as regular mixes.

Hi all, Just had my endoscope this morning and have no memory of any of it. They first gave me some mild happy juice, put me on my side, put a thing in my mouth to keep it open then bam, I was gone till the woke me up in recovery! Have a little sore throat but feel fine just a little sleepy!! Doc told me they found no problems !!

And today it got even better! I got the results of my sleep study and I DO NOT have sleep apnea!!!!!! So unless something shows tomorrow in the endoscopy or on Monday when I go for my cardiac clearance it should be smooth sailing!!! Thanks everyone on here for the support you all give to each other, you are all amazing!

    Anyone Diet Before Surgery?

Not sure when my surgery willbe but I have already started drinking two protein shakes a day with one good meal. I am also going to the gym 3 to 4 times a week and have lost 9 lbs in two weeks. My soc said she wanted me to lose as much as possible and to start to work out so I increase my strength and muscle tone. She stated that these efforts will not only make the surgery easier for her to do but will also aid in my recovery after and help my system get use to the dramatic increase in protein. The other plus is I feel better emotionally from working out!!

    Pre Op Testing

I have had two of the tests so far. I had the psyche consult and that went fine. He sent the eval to barix and said I am an excellent candidate. Last night I had the sleep study test. Slept better than I thought I would! Place was very nice, comfortable and even had a flat screen tv in the room with cable tv. They told me that the only way they will call me is if I do not have any sleep issues and that if I dont hear from them I must go back next Friday night for the test with the cpap machine. I will be surprised if I have sleep apnea, I have never been a snorer and have none of the other typical symptoms. I really hope they call so I don't have to do this again next week and then will have more time added on before my surgery. Oh well, I will deal with whatever they say I have to deal with!! Next test is the endoscopy this coming Wednesday then the cardiac the following Monday! Then just wait and hopefully get scheduled soon!

    Six Months Out With Pic

Thanks for sharing! You look fantasic!! When I went to the barix clinic for my consultation and such I was 243 as well. I am down to 234 from eating a high protein diet. I am older than you at 57 so I know I wont look as fab but at least I know I will look very much better than today and certainly feel 1000 times better than I do today.
  24. Hi Tesa Like you I have been very selective as to who I tell. I have a sister and brother that I have not told yet as I am pretty sure they will be judgemental about my choice. I will tell them once I get approval from insurane company which should be in the next 10 days or so. The others I have told are very supportive and for that I am grateful! So do what you believe is best for you, you certainly don't need any more stress at this time! Diane
