I was also sleeved 7/17 and started losing hair after maybe 5 or 6 weeks. Still losing it, despite taking Biotin and using Nioxin. Luckily I have thick hair and lots of it, but at this rate, I'm bound to run out of hair at some point! As much as it sucks, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one where the hairloss started that early - seems like everyone else's didn't start until 3-4 months post-op.

I've been drinking coffee since maybe 3 weeks out - started with iced, now on hot and have had no issues.

Lets Get Real! I've Been Reading A "regrets" Thread

You'd be amazed at how little food 500-600 calories is. I'd suggest using MYFitnessPal now to track how many calories you're taking in pre-VSG so you have a good idea how much it takes to make you full. I would never have been able to limit myself to that pre-sleeve - I take in about that much now, post-VSG, and the quantities are very small. As for foods - I'm 9 weeks out and can pretty much eat anything except salad and raw veggies. I eat steak - good source of Protein - and stick with leaner cuts and avoid sauces and toppings. I can only eat about 1/3 of a 6 oz. steak, though, whereas in the past I would have eaten the whole thing plus the sides. My dog is very happy that I've had this surgery, since she gets my leftovers. The first few weeks are miserable, but it really does get better. -
Muscle Relaxers, Are They Okay To Take?
LT1002 replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have back problems and have been taking Flexeril post-VSG. My surgeon is also allowing me to take Mobic - an NSAID - as long as I take my Nexium. -
With the band, healthier foods weren't going down for me - like vegetables. Carbs, otoh, went down easily. Not great for a weight loss tool. My port shifted, then the area got infected. They removed my band and did my sleeve in the same surgery. I only had the band for 2 years and lost weight at first, but after a while it did nothing and just made me throw up a lot. Glad it's out.

I started losing my hair pretty quickly - about 4-5 weeks out. Dr. thought it was strange, so I went to my PCP who did bloodwork to see if something else was going on (there wasn't). Told to up my protein, said some people take Biotin, and just wait it out.

I still love my diet coke and my doctor knows I have some on occasion. He's fine with it as long as I don't overdo it - of all the vices one can have, he sees this as the least offensive (since I could be smoking or drinking alcohol instead).

Peacequeen, how long until you were able to eat leafy greens? I've tried a few times and it hasn't gone well.

Thanks everyone! And my dog is adorable, though she could probably use a VSG! Just wait until I start putting up the pics of my cat in his motorcycle jacket.
-
For what it's worth, I don't have sideburns - my hair was just messy that day from riding around in a convertible. My dog, however, does have hair on her face. Despite that, she is a girl.

Fine. Pic changed. Now you get to see a pic of my dog in a tutu.

First, I'm not a guy. Second, yes and that's exactly why I can relate to the OP. That day I had about 2 oz of flat, watered down, caffeine free Diet Coke and people jumped on me like I had a gallon of ice cream. In this thread the OP asked a simple question and wanted a simple answer. Doubt she was looking for the hyper judgmental and alarmist responses she ended up with. Unfortunately, those responses have a chilling effect on others posting - I've seen a few responses in various threads of people seeing how people react when someone posts something others would perceive as "bad" and saying they'd never say anything for fear of generating those types of responses. Is that really what this place is about? Getting down on others for their choices? Because frankly, I thought it was for support and encouragement. Funny, it's always that same group of maybe 5 or 6 people who can't help but criticize other people for their food choices. The majority of people are incredibly kind and supportive, but those same 5 or 6 people ruin it for the rest of us with their holier than thou attitudes.
