    Up And About

I would've thought it'd be the exact opposite, that they'd make you use your cpap. That's a bummer =( I hope you feel better soon! When do they let you start using it again?

    My First Fifty!

    Congrats!!! You're doing great!
  4. That is a good lesson, I hope I can learn it from you, but I have a feeling my brain will have to run into it once or twice before acknowledging it =p Feel better!

    Surgery Today With Dr. Kelly

Have you told your doctor that you're worried about your nutrition and asked if there's anything you can do to supplement it? Different doctors go with different plans, so unfortunately the best answer you're going to get on this one is from your doctor. I hope you feel better!
  6. I'm glad to hear that you're doing well now =) But I am sorry to hear about the heartburn and gas. For gas, I have been doing well with gas-x strips and walking. Walk walk walk, it helps a lot! Did your doctor give you a PPI for the heartburn? If not, call them and ask if you can take something for it.

    How Bad Is Post-Op Farting?

THIS lol. I have always made it to the bathroom, but make sure you keep some air freshener in there just in case. Gas is slowly starting to dissipate, but I can anticipate it. Gas-x strips help some too.
  8. I have 7 days full liquids, then 7 of soft foods, then 14 of puree, then regular. So far with liquids I've been having : Yogurt, Jello, broth, strained creamy Soups, homemade pudding Soft foods I'm looking forward to definitely includes scrambled eggs. I think I could eat eggs for Breakfast, lunch, and dinner =p
  9. I would assume it's due to the increase of water, but that's just what happens to my body when I try and get healthy. Are you eating more foods that are high in fiber? If you having a lot of problems, ask your doctor if you could take something, like an anti-diarrheal.
  10. First, take a breath! Seriously....count to ten, deep breathe. I think that it sounds like you've gone quite a bit overboard. Please hear me out before you get mad about that statement. If you have been waiting for this surgery for nine months, why didn't you clarify with the doctor's office whether you could reschedule or tell them that you felt stressed about it being so soon instead of starving yourself? I think this part of the situation you need to take some responsibility for. Second, give your body a break. You are putting a ton of pressure on yourself talking about school and papers and recovery taking too long. You put your body under a major surgery. There are risks of complications, and I'm so sorry to hear that there were many difficulties, but being upset at your body is only going to make you feel worse. What your body needs right now is support, rest, and good follow-up medical care. While I understand that school is a priority too, health comes first. Period. If you basically starve your body (Which puts it in a mode where it wants to hold onto as many calories as possible to survive), cut it up, and then shove it full of fluids, yes your body is gonna freak a little bit! Eleven days is not much and your body is still probably retaining Water trying to heal. I know it can be stressful not to see the scale move, but maybe you need to put the scale in a closet for a while and focus on recovery. Health and weight are not synonymous. Plus, not everyone's bodies are the same. Your body and your neighbor's are not the same. Maybe you had more comorbidities? Maybe your surgery was more complicated? Maybe your body just needs more time to heal? Have you thought about finding someone to talk this stuff out with? It sounds like maybe you have a lot pent up, not just food, but also general emotional stressors. It is not a sign of weakness to need to find someone to talk to. Years out from my first therapy session and I still use some of the coping techniques I learned when times get tough. Anyway, I do genuinely hope that since your last post you've had time to both heal and reflect on the situation. Surgery is a difficult thing and when we decide to do it, we own all of the risks that we agreed to. Take care of your body, you deserve it. The weight will come off eventually.
  11. I always thought a slider food was something that slid right through you. In one side and out the other quickly, little digestion. Maybe that was TMI =p
  12. That salad looks great. Congratulations on all your progress!
  13. I can say that I feel you on the problems with the full liquid portion. If you're still on full liquids it's normal to have loose stools. You're not eating a lot of food with actual substance. Maybe try some foods other than whey if that's what you're using and see if that helps calm the cramps. I know that I'm having cramps on and off, and now that my intestines are working, it's like every time something goes through them they announce it to me with weird noises, but I have faith that it will eventually calm down =p I do know that my doctor said that if I don't have a BM with in 5 days of discharge from the hospital that I should try a dulcolax suppository and if I'm still not going get in contact with them. From nursing school I know that we worry when patients start to go 3 or more days with a BM. If you're not going often, I definitely think it'd be worth a call to your doctor just to make sure that they're aware of it and there's nothing that they want you to do. I hope it gets better soon for you!

    Help, Ladies! Tom:(

I second the heating pad! It's my new best friend =p
  15. I am always lookin for more weight loss buddies. I had my sleeve done on the 26th this month, so I'm a little ahead of you, but it's always nice to have support. As far as whether you wanna message back and forth, you're welcome to send me a message about anything you're thinking and we can chat or whatever. I'm a very open person, so I'm happy to answer/ask questions, listen to rants (I sure need to rant sometimes too =p), or just be a friend to lean on when it's tough.
  16. You look great !! You're already about halfway to meeting all your goals. It must feel awesome that you're down below hubby now =)
  17. I didn't have to do that requirement because of my BMI, but I did thoroughly go through all the requirements with BCBS of MI so that I'd be prepared if they threw me the switch and told me I had more hoops to jump through (And I'd not be surprised because they aren't always the most forthcoming with info). For my plan had my BMI been under 50 I would have needed a medically supervised weight loss program. This includes supervised weight loss by my physician (Including food diaries, weigh ins), but does not include plans like weight watchers. While they would acknowledge weight watchers as proof that I'd tried dieting over the past few years, commercial programs like it were not included as supervised weight loss. If I were you I would call the insurance plan, get the person you talk to's name and ask them for the exact things you need to turn into them. That way you have the requirements listed and back up proof of who you talked to (If you're like me and call insurance too much you could even have it confirmed by a second representative) My insurance told me all of this information would have to go to the bariatric clinic I was having the surgery and they would pretty much confirm that I did it, but I'm not sure if that's how all of them work. Good luck =)

    Probiotics Yes Or No?

I think the best person to answer your question would be your doctor or nutritionist. I wish I had a better answer. But I think it's safest to ask the resources you have at the place you got sleeved as far as any medications. It seems like some instructions vary from doctor to doctor and at least for me, this is not something I would be comfortable hearing the ok from anyone except my doctor's office.
  19. If he didn't give you a set amount to lose, I imagine he will be happy with 15lbs. I lost maybe about 5 pre-op and that was enough that my surgeon was happy. You will probably at least have to do a clear liquid diet the whole day before surgery. It's not as hard as it sounds, by that point I was really too tired to care about it. Keep your eyes on the goal, you're doing so well =D

    Surgery 07/26

For shakes I have a few options. I did buy a couple sample packs of unjury (http://www.unjury.com/store/protein/)and nectar powder (http://www.vitacost.com/syntrax-nectar-whey-protein-isolate-powder-twisted-cherry)Protein. I am actually trying my first nectar one tonight in the pink grapefruit flavor. I can't decide if I like it or not. It's tangy and sweet and I think it's a yes, but I'm only like 2 bites in, so I'll give a more clear answer once I'm through it I guess. I also own just a basic whey protein random brand from Meijer that is vanilla flavored that I can mix with pretty much anything. This is gonna sound a little weird, but I've been having a lot of trouble getting protein in. My mom came up with the idea of taking plain greek yogurt (I like the brand Fage, but any would work) that has no fruit and mixing it with the protein powder packet (or a serving size of the powder if you have the big jar) and then adding a little bit of milk to make it into like a thin yogurt consistency. Just mixing 1 packet + 1 yogurt + a few teaspoons of milk makes about 3 small meal size servings that pack a ton of protein. When she mixed the plain yogurt with the vanilla protein powder she added a teaspoon or so of strawberry Jello that'd already set and that gave it a little bit of flavor contrast. As long as it is thin and has no fruit chunks my doctor's office considers yogurt part of a full liquid diet. It has gone done smooth and I haven't had any issues. You could also just mix the protein powder with a little bit of milk or a little bit of Water.
  21. (((HUG))) Sounds like it's goin pretty rough for ya =\ Your stomach will heal in time and you'll be able to progress. I know right now I'm not feeling much desire to eat either. Hang in there!
  22. I'm glad to hear everything worked out for you. I hope that between now and your surgery you will have more luck =) If you can lose some it will help decrease some of the surgical risk, you can do it!

    Stupid Nut

I would see if you could see another NUT. For my psych eval I couldn't get into the one my doctor recommended quickly, so I found another one in the area and that worked fine. They just wanted to see that I'd completed the requirement.

    1 Week To Go Nerves

I had quite a bit of pain. Would I go back and do it again? Absolutely. They give you pain medications as needed, and if you're getting up and moving around it helps dissipate some of the gas, which I think was probably a large part of the pain. Totally worth it.
