  1. First and foremost you are losing OVER A POUND A DAY. How is that not quick? It is a ton of weight lost!! Look at any other weight loss website, people lose like 2 pounds a week and that's a LOT. You did not gain this weight a pound a day. And eventually your weight loss will probably slow down to a couple pounds a week. And that's still a large loss! I think we all get so caught up in that we just want the weight to be gone gone gone that we lose sight of the fact that if the weight all disappeared over 2 months we would be incredibly sick. It is healthy to lose weight at a reasonable pace, even if it's not as exciting as now now now. And when we get down to it....a loss is a loss is a loss. As long as it's a pound off my bum - even if it's just one or two - it was worth my time! Enjoy your loss. 17 pounds! That's the size of a small/med dog. A young child. A large cat. A big bag of groceries. And exercise! Not only will it help you with loose skin, but it will also help with your general health. You can be skinny as a rail and not healthy at all. Adding a bit of exercise will increase your cardio and pulmonary function, decreasing your risk of a great number of diseases.

    New Month, New Beginnings

Good luck! I know you will do great =) Let us know when you are out of surgery and how it went!
  3. Does her regular doctor know that she's already seeing a nutritionist associated with the clinic she is having the surgery through? It might be worth just making sure that she knows your mother is already having nutritional consultations. If she does know and still makes your mother do the dietitian appointment, I agree with TinaMari, question the doctor's rationale. Let her know that you do not want to spend money for something that it repetitive and you're already required to pay for. Worst case scenario, if it does turn out to be a waste of time, at least it was only one consult. Maybe have a talk with your mom and see what the dietitian said and see how it relates to what the nutritionist has said. That way you can be sure your mom will be following the healthiest instructions.
  4. I would try my darndest to get the ring off. A little bit of grease and see if it will slip off. If not, the clinic may either have a way to get it off, or decide to tape it. The reason they want you to have no acrylic fingernails or painted nails is because they need to be able to put a finger thing on that measures the oxygen in your blood. It gives them an idea on your oxygen saturation, or how well you're getting oxygen. I would rather take the acrylics off and know that they could measure this vital sign than have my acrylic nails. That's just my opinion though.
  5. I'm glad to hear it =) I have a pair of jeans from years ago too that I can't wait to get into. How is today goin? Any better?
  6. Glad I could help. Where there's a will, there's a way =) I do not know what your insurance requires exactly, I just know that there are some people who have said on here that their insurance requires a rather lengthy list of their previous weights. My insurance did not seem to care at all about my previous weights. It's just better to have all your bases covered. If you have records from as far back as you can get them, that's what I would do. That way if/when you need them, you have them. If you have any questions or issues along the way, send me a message =)
  7. It is amazing how hard it is to get in to see a psychologist/psychiatrist isn't it? =p I always encounter the same thing when I try and make an appointment. If you have trouble taking the pills (my tablets tasted AWFUL crushed) you could see if the pharmacy can get it in liquid form. Most meds are available in liquid, you just have to ask. I'm sorry that yesterday was so awful at work. If you need just a venting, sounding board to yell at, complain, get it all out there, you are welcome to send me a message. I know sometimes I just feel like screaming and if I get it out to a friend then at least I have a little bit of that weight off my chest. I know that I'm probably not as good as your therapist, but I would be happy to try to help in any way I can =) I hope today is better!
  8. I feel this too! I have dated on and off, but it's frustrating being 25 and having a hard time getting dates because of my weight. It's not one of the top 10 reasons I had the sleeve, but I will not at all mind the extra male attention once I'm down at a healthier weight =p
  9. I'm glad that I can be a part of this group =) So far I'm doing really well. I am still taking the liquid lortab that they gave me, but not nearly as often. I am up and around the house a lot. Been walking outside quite a bit. The hardest part has been fighting dehydration, especially when your stomach is still swollen. I think mine has started to go down, because I can finally take in some decent Water, but the last few days it's been sip sip sip all day long and still a little dehydrated! It was my first surgery and I was really nervous going in, but I was pleasantly surprised because it really wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Let me know how the pre-op approval and diet and everything go. I didn't have to do a pre-op diet, though I did a full liquids one for a few days on my own. Figured it can't hurt to lose a few pounds and hopefully shrink my liver a little.

    I'm Exhausted!

I can't remember which post I read it, but I know I've read a couple times that we can only absorb up to 30 grams of Protein in a given time. I'm trying to have quite a bit of protein in the morning and the quite a bit at dinner. I know I have been dreaming tons every night since my surgery, which has been kind of taxing on my sleep. I'm not sure if maybe it's because of how I'm sleeping, but I've tried many different beds/chairs and still the same thing. It's fine right now because I have the time to nap during the day, but I'm hoping it will resolve. Do you feel like your sleep has been normal? Maybe you are more restless at night and that's affecting your day?

    Please Not A Leak!

I vote go to the ER. It is not worth your life to wait around for the surgeon to call back. I am not a doctor so I can't interpret the symptoms, but it definitely sounds like you need to see a doctor ASAP. Please keep us updated, you'll be in our thoughts!
  12. I'm happy that you're making so many positive changes in your life. I know it seems like it's going soooooo slowwww but trust me, it will be by in a snap and you will be on the loser's bench =)
  13. I agree with Webtrekker, take some pictures in it and post them up by your mirror so you see them repeatedly. Maybe wear the costume around the house for a few hours every couple days just to get used to the feel of it. Write out some positive powerful statements about you looking good or that you are small and fit into this outfit perfectly and say them repeatedly while wearing it. It sounds really silly, but sometimes those kind of things help. You could also try tapping, which helps me when I'm feeling anxious, but it won't help probably with the body mismatch issue. On an unrelated (or related) note, that is so awesome! I want to do something cool like this when I get to goal. Do you feel comfortable enough that you'd post pictures here? Maybe having all of us, who will be honest with you, might help reassure you?

Good luck! You can do it! Just keep the goal in mind =)

    Suggestions On Taking B12

If I was gonna do B-12 injections I would have my doctor write a script and fill it at the pharmacy. Some insurances will cover it and if your doctor writes for needles some insurances will cover that too.
  16. You guys are giving me hope...I seem to always loose from my arms and boobs first. I want some weight to come off my bum!

    Gs Weight Loss And Tattoos....

Most of my tattoos are in places that will not stretch/change much with time. I do have one on my lower back that's stretched as I gained weight. It needs to be touched up a little, but it's not awful. Depending on where you get it on your calf, it may not really change a lot. I guess I'm of the opinion that I can always have it touched up, not a big deal to me.
  18. I had never thought of this until now......And now I'm SUPER curious! I wonder if they have pics in my file. You know what my first question at my 2 week follow up will be!

Just Wanted To Let You Know......

I'm so sorry for your loss =( I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.
  20. You're gonna do great. What a roller coaster of emotions it is getting sleeved. I would not trade a second of it =) I am soooo grateful for my sleeve. Keep us updated on how you do!

    Have A Date!

Congratulations! Only 3 weeks to go and you'll be sleeved!!
  22. How did things go with your doctor? I encourage you to research, research, research your options on doctors. And contact your insurance company, see if they will cover complications/after care/anything that comes up down the road related to this procedure since it is being done out of the country. If there is a possibility of having to cover any of those things yourself in the future, you want to at least have a heads up about it.

    Lots To Do!

Sounds like things are falling into place quickly! You will be ready and sleeved before you know it =) I bet it's a relief that you have your PCP behind you and can finally get going on those requirements.
