    Super Ready For This

I am kind of wondering this too. Similar situation, although not private school. I have been kind of a loner for quite a long time. I'm sure it will be an adventure. I'm about halfway through school in a program where I have 7 set classmates that I always will be in classes with that I've gotten pretty comfortable with. So I have a feeling a little will change, but I'll let you know how things go outside of my little comfortable group =p

    Pill Question

Many medications come in liquid form. I take Trileptal and they ordered it for me in liquid no problem. Some medications can be crushed and mixed with liquids or applesauce. No extended release or delayed release medications can be crushed/cut. Some medications that are capsules can be opened and sprinkled over food/liquid. Some medications come in oral disintegrating tablets. Ask your pharmacist what's available in the medications you take and then talk to your doctor - most medications can be worked out =)
  4. I have been doing this and yes I did pick the sugar free pudding mixes. I suppose you could do it with the regular, but it would be higher calorie/sugar. It actually is pretty tasty and a good way to get in protein =)
  5. I don't know what it is, but it sounds like maybe they just want to be sure. The only things I can think of are hiatal hernia and leak? I don't know.. it doesn't sound like leak symptoms to me. You will be fine, take some deep breaths and head to the ER so that you can get some peace of mind. (((((HUG))))) Keep us updated. Hopefully it is just a wasted trip by a doctor who overreacted, but it's better safe than sorry.

    Something Changed On The App

I know they had the website down for maintenance last ***ht right before I went to bed. Maybe they updated some stuff that's not agreeing with the apps? All I've noticed so far on the computer is the little bullets in the lists look a little different.
  7. My sleeve makes all sorts of weird noises too. Most of them don't hurt, but some do. It seems like the smaller sips I take and more time I take having meals, the less noise it makes. Also if I try and eat every 2 hours it's less talkative too.

    Why Do I Do It?

Head hunger is an evil thing! Be proud of yourself that you did end up switching to the salad! The important part is YOU WERE STRONG. You were able to make the change to the salad and I really think that's an accomplishment. I was not that strong pre-sleeve. And soon you will have your sleeve and you won't be able to eat nearly that much anyway =)
  11. Yay! i'm glad to hear that your psych eval went well. Mine was a pain in the butt! She took days to clear me and then days to forward the paperwork.

Feel Like The Drs Aren't Listening...

I'm sorry this is happening =( It sounds super frustrating. I can kind of sympathize with your family doctor. While they are your physician, they are not as specialized as your bariatric doctor is with the lapband. Since it's kind of a specialized thing, if I was a provider I would be hesitant to try and diagnose anything related to it. While it's frustrating, if it's lapband related, it's in the realm of a bariatric surgeon, not as much as a primary care physician. Even if they did decide to order tests from your PCP, if they thought it was any lapband related they would end up referring you back to your bariatric doctor. If you are having nausea 24/7 and it's not getting better, call the bariatric clinic and tell them that you feel like you need to come in for a visit. Let them know you've been nauseous for weeks and it's getting worse. I'm not sure what the conversation went like the first time you called, but stress that you want to come in and see someone. The nurses are trained to do over the phone assessments, so she's not trying to block you, but she is try to make the most out of both your time and her time by saving you an office visit she doesn't seem to think you need. If you think you need tests done - insist on an office visit at your bariatric doctor. At the very least if the zofran isn't working ask them to prescribe you another medication for nausea - there are more than just one of them. I hope you feel better. It sounds like it's been a crummy two weeks. It's gotta look up soon!

On An Out State Trip And Not Doing Well

I'm sorry to hear you're having trouble =( Is it the lack of choices that's making it difficult or the lack of control? If it's the control, maybe you can write stuff down, if that will help you keep accountable. If it's the choices - are there any farmer's markets you could stop by and get some fresh fruit at least?

    Am I On Track?

You have lost like 26 pounds...Am I missing something here? I think what we are missing is CELEBRATING - Why aren't you happy?? 26 pounds off your body!!! Stop comparing to everyone, you are doing great! This is not a race - different people lose at different rate. Some people will lose faster than you, some will lose slower. Pre-op in 2 months you would probably have lost none or little - so be happy! You are doing awesome.

    Emotionally Abusive Mother :(

I'm sorry that you're having to go through this! It's is very unfair =( First, I wanna say congratulations - it sounds like you are doing AWESOME and you should be so proud of yourself. I hope that you are feeling a difference and how incredible you're doing! Second, I'm not sure exactly what advice to give you about your mother. I know that personally when people are mean to me I tend to try to avoid them as much as possible, but that's difficult when the person is your mother. Are there friends houses you can stay at part of the week? Have you tried standing up to her? Maybe having a heart to heart? Are you in counseling? Maybe having a counselor to talk to would at least help you learn some coping strategies to deal with it and try to help you understand that you deserve better (And you do!!). Have you thought about talking to your father about how you feel when she says these things to you? It sounds like the two of you are very close, maybe he can help create a barrier between you two or at least help her be civil. I don't know your culture, and I realize that it's strongly frowned upon to leave a household before marriage, but if you get to the point where you are starting to feel horrible about yourself. When you can't take it anymore. Please do not stay there and just let her dump all of this on you. You are a wonderful person and you deserve to be around people who treat you how you deserve to be treated. Maybe you can move in with another family member, would that be allowed in your culture? Talk to your dad, your relatives, let them know how bad it has gotten, maybe they can help. I strongly feel like you should not stay there if it's continuing no matter what. I wish you all the best and I do sincerely hope that things get better. You deserve better.

    -Sniff- Double Rejected!

I'm sorry that things are hard. I know that it seems like it's silly that only two years makes a difference, but it really does. It must seem like forever right now, but your body is still maturing and growing. I wouldn't have believed me either at your age, but generally people wait for surgery until they are over 18 both because they are legally and adult and because some surgeries can affect how you are growing and developing. Plus, this is a lot to handle. It sounds super easy, but at 16 I know I would never have been ready to make a decision like this, let alone handle the long term implications. I would have sworn up and down that I could, but it's hard to really understand, even at 18, the risks and long term effects of surgery. It's a very big decision to handle, even for me at 25. I am not an expert, so I can't say for this specific surgery, but I would think that the surgeon's do know what they are comfortable doing and not doing for a reason. (((((HUG)))) No matter what happens, hang in there and we will be here for you =)

    Got My Date Today!

Woohoo! It's gonna be here before you know and it you'll be jumping onto the loser's bench!
  19. Losing 10 pounds in 2 weeks is A GOOD LOSS! You should be celebrating! Everyone seems to want to compare themselves to everyone else, but there is no standard. Without surgery you would be hard pressed many weeks to lose even a pound or two! I know, I know, everyone comes in expecting super huge losses, but be happy. You made it through surgery, your body has been good enough to give you 10 pounds that you will never have to see again. It's still recovering. And those are 10 pounds off your butt, your hips, your thighs, your arms that you won't have to worry about losing next week or the week after that. You are doing great. Do not take for granted an awesome weight loss =) Look up a pound of fat. There are pictures, it's big! And you've lost 10 of them! Good job and keep up the great work and it will continue to come off. Someday you will be thankful for just a couple pounds a week...Enjoy the big losses while they last.

    My Gastric Sleeve

Glad to hear it! Keep up the good work!
  22. 1. Tell her how she's making you feel. If she is a good friend she will understand that maybe there are some things that she just doesn't get. Maybe she is just afraid of losing her best friend. Maybe she's worried about the surgery. Maybe she just doesn't realize that she needs to have a filter. Either way I'd be up front but polite about it. 2. I am 25 and only a DD cup but my boobs already sag some =( It's just the unfortunate truth to life. It does not bother me that much, and I don't enjoy them being large, so if I get to goal I think I will save up for a boob job to have them look good at a decent size, like a B or C. Even if I didn't get a boob job then, I will still be happy that I'm not morbidly obese anymore.
  23. I do have little bubbles like you. Sometimes it feels like it stops right below my sternum for about 10-15 seconds and then it bubble bubble bubble goes down. It's usually because I've taken too big of a sip. The slower I go, the better it settles.
  24. You really look wonderful and have come so far. You are truly an inspiration =)
  25. I wanted to, but this month just flew by for me working a lot and tried to get everything to work. I did get in my hot and sour Soup before my surgery, which I was happy about. I am 100% that you are not alone, I'm pretty sure most people have had a last supper =) It's okay to treat yourself a little, you're gonna have a long time of having to be good.
