    How Painful Was The Surgery?

This is really interesting to me - did she just put it on the bridge of your nose? That's so random and awesome, I'm gonna have to try it next time I get nauseous. Thanks for the tip!

    Bougie Size And Hunger

I'm not the expert on this, but there seems to be a lot of threads on it lately. From the other posts I've read and the pictures and stuff people have posted I have gathered this: - Bougie size is determined by the physician - It does not seem to be determined whether it affects hunger level (at least not the posts I've read), but looking at the pictures the difference in sizes is tiny, they are very close in size - Some people are probably hungry because of head hunger, emotions (boredom, etc), and acid reflux. I haven't had actual hunger since pre-op so I can't comment on it with my own experience, but I can tell you that head hunger keeps trying to break into my thoughts, so if I do end up feeling hungry before a few months out, that's probably what it would be. Eventually the other parts of your stomach can start to produce ghrelin, so it's not a permanent fix to hunger, you will eventually gain some hunger back. - If you are taller your stomach may be longer to begin with and could hold a little more food, but the amount your sleeve ends up holding a few months post-op varies from person to person and can be anywhere from 1/4 cup to about 1 cup (and maybe a little more for some people) - not enough that you will be able to completely go off the deep end without stretching it or eating tons of sliders Hope that helps!

    Fat On Fat Prejudice?

I don't know that I dislike other fat people - but I sure as heck compare myself to them in my head. I think I have a hard time understanding how I look like to other people so I wonder to myself "Do I look that big too?" or something like that. I think I'm more likely to feel embarrassed for them, mostly because of my own embarrassment about my weight. But I have some fat friends too. I could see where this would be common though, probably exactly what you were saying, disliking them because you dislike yourself.

    Preop Diet

Many of us have made mistakes along the way. Different surgeons have different requirements, but from most posts it seems like as long as you get yourself back on track, you will be fine. If you're really worried about it you could always call and fess up, but they'll probably just tell you to stay strictly to the diet from now on =) My doctor didn't make me do a pre-op diet and everything went fine. Don't beat yourself up about it, just accept it and move on from here.
  11. I had some pain similar to that, but it was after I pushed myself a little too far the day before. I was pretty sore/had sharp pains for the next day or two. If it persists, you should probably give the doctor a call. Feel better!
  12. Is there anyone else in the office you could contact to complain? I think that type of behavior is totally uncalled for and they are probably driving away more business - if I was the surgeon or nurses I would be pissed at someone treating my patient that way.

    Weird Pseduo-Burps

I'm not nearly as far out as you, but I have this too. It sounds like it comes from right underneath my sternum. I haven't gotten back to work yet, but I'm hoping that it will eventually settle down a little.
  14. The patch is called Transderm Scopalamine (I think that's how it's spelled?) Sits behind your ear to help with nausea - and it did seem to help quite a bit for me too.

    Brand New To Vst

Hi Chris! Welcome to VST =) It took me a while to decide surgery at all was an option for me. Once I decided it flew by - it's hard sometimes to believe I actually am 3 weeks post-op. When I started my research I didn't know anything about the sleeve, but when I read up on it and combined it with the experiences people I know have had with RNY, I decided sleeve was for me. And I was right, I don't regret it a bit.

    Should I Reschedule?

Woohoo! I'm glad to hear it =) What a relief!
  19. What an incredible difference =) You look great!
  20. I had one about 4 days after getting home. They told me if I got to 5 days and still hadn't had one to use a dulcolax suppository - not the tablet.
  21. How frustrating =\ Just think how great it will be to step on next time and have no problems! I haven't flown for years because I'm worried about this kind of stuff. I cannot wait to board a plane with no worries!

    Not So Nice...

Haha made me smile too =) Those long questionnaires drive me a little batty too!
  23. The only pulmonary clearance I had to do was 2 chest x-rays and finding my pre-surgery lung capacity with an incentive spirometer so they'd have a goal for post-op.

    Top Weight? Goal Weight?

Top: 325 Current: 297ish First goal: 180 after 180 I will see how far I want to go, but my healthy weight according to BMI is around 135. Not sure if I will be able to go quite that low. But I hope so!
  25. Insurance companies are so slowwww. I have had to call them just about every other day to get them to fix the billing for my surgery. Each time they tell me 30 days before they will know the copay and stuff. Then the next day I get another bill that isn't billed right. It's like deja vu =p drives me nuts! I've got my fingers crossed that tomorrow is your day =)
