Depression While Waiting For Surgery?
mom2han replied to aumum's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started my journey 10 months ago and I just got my surgery date. The time goes by really fast but I understand how you feel. One thing I recommend is to stay on you doctor. I went to my primary on January 3rd and was told ok we will submit a referral. I waited 4 weeks and was then denied because I needed 6 months of education classes. When I finished my education classes I was told they couldn't refer me because I hadn't done anything else I needed. I said you are the doctor you need to tell me what I need to do! They said I needed an EKG do they did a referral, I waited four weeks for and appointment I went to the cardiologist twice over six weeks and was then told by the primary that I needed a current EKG and I shouldn't have been referred out in the first place. I flipped out! There have been many other delays but I'm sure you get the point. That was two months ago and since then I have called them almost every single day sometimes 3 timed a day. I tracked every piece of paper and every fax that went through that office. The referral girl actually called me twice this past week just to let me know she had taken care of the things she needed to. Friday morning she finally called to say I was approved! My surgeon is Dr Suh and his office is great and are the ones that told me to stay on my primary. Sorry to ramble but hang in there, your time will come quick! -

I Got My Surgery Date!
mom2han replied to Look@meitsEmily's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I got my date yesterday, October 5th! It depends on the facility. My surgeon works out of several facilities and they are booking 3-6 weeks out depending on where you go. I started this journey in January, the last 8 months have flown by and I'm sure the next 5 weeks will too. It is such a relief to finally be approved and have a date! Yay for us! -
Any Dr. Suh (Kaiser) Patients, Got A Question.
mom2han replied to Mzluvee's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have doctor Suh and I used Heaston too. She took my insurance so I only had to pay my copay otherwise she charges $100. Now I'm just waiting on my sonogram appointment. Trying to get all the appointments and tests within a 30 day period has been very difficult but I'm almost there. I would call the doctor everyday to see if they have cancellations so you can get in sooner. -
I think you need to consume more calories. Sounds like your body is going into starvation mode. Good luck!

To Tell Or Not To Tell....
mom2han replied to PeaceLove&Tash's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think I have told just about everyone I know. I have gotten positive and negative responses. I have alot of overweight friends that have not been supportive and they say I'm taking the easy way out and i should do it with diet and exercise. Everyone in my office has constantly counting calories and points for years, they should all be rail thin and they are all still overweight. I guarantee when they see my success they will be climbing onboard. I want to be able to share my experience and knowledge with others and offer them hope. I can't do that if I keep my surgery a secret. -
Why Gain It Back?
mom2han replied to IweightNoMore's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my first visit with my surgeon and this is what he has to say. If you want to lose weight and keep it off forever you must give up soda, dessert, chips, crackers, and popcorn for the rest of your life. These foods are genetically altered by the manufactures to make you hungry and make you eat more. He goes on to say In the beginning you may eat just one but you have my guarantee that will not last and you will gain the weight back. I believe this 100%. I have every intention of following his rules because I want to stop the insanity once and for all. Good luck to everyone taking this journey.
