  1. It does get better, I was sleeved November 20, and there were some days that I didn't think I could tolerate another Protein shake (I still use them to supplement). There is no way I can get 80-100 grams of protein in a day without them. This may be TMI, but I had problems with gagging while I was having a bowel movement for about 4 weeks, it was very strange and scary. This was the closest to "slimming" I have done, and it was awful. Eeeewwwwwww!

    Messed Up Bad

Before the sleeve, I constantly craved sweets, now, nothing! Occasionally, now my head will remember and I have decided that it has to be something of really good quality, i.e., homemade, fabulous, etc. I absolutely refuse to eat anything that is just so so anymore. Today, at the elementary school where I work, there were sweets everywhere for the Valentine's parties going on. The only thing I ate was a mini homemade red velvet cupcake and it was the perfect size, 3 bites and I was completely satisfied. Before my sleeve, I could have eaten 6 mini cupcakes and not be satisfied what so ever! The things I really miss are bread products, but it is just not worth the problems that I have experienced with bread. Hopefully one day I will be able to enjoy a small piece of a great bagel again.
  3. My hubby has always been nervous about any surgery I have had, be it necessary or elected, just from the safety standpoint. He has been with me for 33 years total (22 married) and through all the diets. He has supported me the whole way and he has been thrilled with the results so far. Our sex life has always been good, but the weight loss has really made it better and I didn't think that was possible! My boys 9 and 13 have also been very positive, they say that mom is looking good! My new motto is I eat to live, not live to eat!
  4. I usually eat in about 20-25 min. I had the flu for 7 days in mid December, and I'm sure that it slowed my weight loss. My goal was to be at 199 by Christmas and I didn't make it . I'm happy with my weight loss so far!
  5. Congratulations!!! I was at 209 yesterday, I was hoping to be in "onderland" by New Years! i was just cleared for exercise, so I'm hoping it will be very soon!
  6. I also got sick for the first time this week from a casserole that had very soft mixed veggies and hamburger. I ate about 6 bites and sleevie didn't like it at all! I think it was the veggies, I have eaten ground beef with no problems. Sent from my iPhone using VST

  8. Congrats! I am still waiting. I told my husband that I feel like tomorrow will be the day this stall breaks. He'll be thrilled because his wife isn't usually this bitchy! I've amazed myself at just how groughy I can be. wow. Anyhow, I am happy for you! Hang in there, it will break! We are here for you, keep us posted!
  9. I finally broke my stall!! Started logging everything and upping my water! This is the lowest weight I have been in almost 20 years! I am loving my sleevie!!!

    Just curious!

My theory is that it all depends on how you carry your weight. I'm 5'3 and currently 218, pants are 16-18 depending on brand and xl tops. I hold the majority of my weight from my waist to my knees. I'm also not quite 3 weeks out from surgery. Sent from my iPhone using VST

    Submitted To Cigna Today!

It will definitely be a Happy New Year for you!!!!' Congrats!
  12. My surgery was 11/20 and I have been at 219 and 220 for a week, very depressing!!! I have a theory that those of us who lost more on the pre-op liquid diet (I lost 14lbs in 12 days) are hitting the stall a little earlier than those who lost slower pre-op. I gained 4 lbs in the hospital from the fluids and lost that plus 6 more. I am following my plan accordingly and have no trouble getting in my protein and water. We need to step back and think "have I been this successful before?" I have lost 24 lbs since November 7 and am very proud of myself. The scale might not be moving, but my body is definitely changing shape. I am loving that my co-workers say "the weight is melting off of you". I have 2 pair of pants that I can wear, one is very baggy. I will be Goodwill shopping this weekend! My hubby said last night that my "hiney" looks like it did when he met me 33 years ago! I laughed and said imagine how good it will look in 5 months??? Let's all hang in there, one day at a time!!!! Congrats to us for being on the losers bench!!!

    13 Days Post Op

I too am 13 days out. Yesterday I had the best day since surgery, but today, sleevie went back a week. Trying to get the water and shakes down, food tastes off today!
  14. I am 7 days out from surgery, each evening since day 3, my ears get blocked and pop and crackle. I started taking Sudafed this afternoon so I will see if that helps. Otherwise I am fine, no sinus issues or cold symptoms at all. My voice sounds like I am in a barrel when this happens. I am wondering if this is due to still having extra Fluid that needs to drain from my abdomen, which is still slightly puffy. Has anyone else experienced this?
  15. I was just sleeved last Tuesday and am going back to work this Thursday. I also have a desk job, I probably could have gone back today. The only reason I am waiting is I work for a school and I get tired in the late afternoons before 4:30, but I am also 49. I bounce back from surgery very fast though.
  16. I was also initially going to get the band while on the supervised diet. I researched both and asked my coordinator who makes the choice and how do you pick one or the other. She said it basically comes down 2 things, the band has monthly appointments for adjustments for at least a year and then several times per year. The sleeve is once and done other than a couple of checkups the first year. The main thing I decided for me was I couldn't commit to going to their office 30 miles away each month for at least year due to my work schedule and my kids sports schedules. I also read the failure rate and really didn't want the artificial band in my body for the rest of my life. I was at 226 on surgery day, and am 5'3, so we are close in size, that part doesn't matter, it's based on your BMI and any co-morbidities. You can't base your decision on what if's like stomach cancer, you need to look at your situation and pick what will work best for you! Please look at the other forum and then here and you should be able to make the decision. I know the sleeve was the best thing for me!

    Don't Overdo It!

I am one week out too, I almost went back to work today I decided to take days this week since I have been getting tired in the late afternoons. I started driving on Saturday and picked up my kids from school today. I have definitely given my fair share to the cyber sales since Friday! I have started putting up indoor decorations, but I know you can definitely go backwards really fast, so I am taking it slow. I go back to work on Thursday. I work at a school and get out for Christmas break on December 20 and will be off until January 7. I know it will be a very busy 3 weeks!
  18. Thank you, my sleevie friends! It's wonderful to be able to ask any question here and get help! I love being a part of this very special community!

    Goal Weight Today!

Awesome! Congratulations on getting to your goal! Enjoy it, you worked hard to get where you are! I am dreaming of being at goal weight!!!
  20. I didn't have that much gas, mainly the first night, Tuesday. I found if I did the breathing machine they gave me to prevent pneumonia, it helped! I am out day 4 and haven't had any gas since Wednesday. LOL, my bladder gets very slow when I have surgery, I can feel like I am going explode, but it will take me 5 minutes to start, then it stops, then it starts, etc. One time I know I was in the bathroom for 15 minutes and only went like 200 ml, it felt like a gallon!

    Help! Please.

14 days pre-op liquid protein diet, so far this has been the worst part. I was sleeved on Tuesday and have not had any problems. I was at 240 when I started the liquid phase and lost 14 pounds. Each doctor is different with the pre-op and post-op diet phases. Good luck to you!

    This Gets Better, Right?!

I was sleeved Tuesday, I am getting in about 60 gr of Protein and my fluids. The only problem I am having is my body still thinks its in the hospital (I had to stay 2 nights) since they wake you every 2 hours for vitals. I haven't slept a full night since before the surgery. I only got about 4 hrs of sleep last night, but I think I may have been napping too much, which I decided to stop today. I am not taking the liquid pain meds they gave me as of today, they make me sleepy and groggy. I drove to Walmart this afternoon and walked around with my boys, I am hoping that I will get a good nights sleep in. I am supposed to go back to work next Thursday, but won't if I am not sleeping great at night. I also start the pureed stage Tuesday, and can't wait. I have always bounced back quickly from surgery, getting in and out of bed doesn't hurt today for me. Take your time, everyone is different. It will get better!

    Getting There...

dar1983, YOU GO GIRL! You give us newbies a reason to take each day at a time! @proudgrammy you always know the best things to say to everyone here! You always manage to lift my spirits and make me laugh, but since I'm only 4 days out from surgery, this seems to be the only thing my sleevie doesn't like!

    Crushing Up Pills

I am counting my blessings on this, I was just sleeved on Tuesday. Wednesday morning when I was dying for a sip of water the nurse brings me 5 . . . yes, 5 Vit. D pills. (I take 1 5000 iu Vit. D a day) I wasn't sure I could get them down, but thought what the heck, I had been able to swallow a handful in the past. So I did it one at a time slowly and it was fine. Now, I can take the round form of Tylenol with no problem, I tried the chewable, but the taste is nasty! So far, I have not had any trouble swallowing anything. I sometimes forget I was sleeved and will take too big a gulp of water, then it gets stuck for a second and I do my "labor breathing" to get me through. Hang in there, everyone is different, it will get better!
  25. The surgery went great! I couldn't wait to get home today, really missed my family and my bed! A little sore, but all is ok. I am so happy to officially be on the losers bench!
