Hello I had my lap band/plication in may 9,2012. Exactly one year ago. I've lost 47 pounds couldn't be happier since that's the most I've ever lost. Wish it was more but hoping by next year I have had reached my goal. I look way better then last year that's for sure. Keep your head up and you can do it!!! If your scared it will be for a lil while but the benefits are worth it!

sugar free Jello is also great to have on hand. It will make you feel like you are actually eating real food amongst all the liquid...but is still considered a liquid, so is allowed. Good luck!

Congrats on upcoming surgury... One thing that truely helped me is I got Jean McMillans Cook Book... Bandwagon Cookery... she has a TON of great receipes in it and a lot she has listed at the bottom of the recipe how to "adapt" to both the liquid phase and the puree phase of the diet. I ordered mine on Amazon but if you click on her profile on this site I think her blog is listed and you can order from there too Enjoy the new journey !!!

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing, I agree with what emidastwin said. I'm am having LBS next month and look forward to keeping up with my 2 teenagers. You gave me the hope & motivation I needed today.

What an inspiring post. I haven't had my LBS yet I'm about a month out. I am going to take some advice a girl gave me on here and start eating slower, taking small bites, and eating healthier. The last few months I have been not been watching what I eat and have gained even more weight. So I'd like to lose a few pounds before surgery and try to get a jump start. I am also going to start walking when I can. I think it will help me to recover after my surgery. How much weight have you lost?

Thanks MRSINTO, thing is, she's also struggled with her weight all my life pretty much. That's why I said she suprised me, I thought she would've been more understanding. But I guess being a mom myself I do understand her concern.

Well.... I have to disagree with the above posts. I don't think it's a lack of Protein, or that Biotin helps. When I started loosing hair, I went to the dermatoligist. Much to my relief, he said I was not going bald. He said the body goes into kind of a shock after rapid weight loss. I honestly don't remember his detailed explanation, something about the cycle of Hair growth. Mine started to fall out about 4 months post op and stopped, and grew back about 3 months later. I know how unsettling it is, but try not to worry. It will stop.

It went really well! Have been sleeping on and off. I lost over 16 lbs on the pre-op diet. Yay! Pain is tolerable. Just an ache between my shoulder blades and it feels like I have done a million sit ups when I try to get up or down. My husband, Mom and kids have been so helpful and supportive! Looking forward to getting on with my life, being smaller and healthier! Cheers to all of you for the inspiration you have provided.

Most people who do not have true weight issues, do not understand why we would do something so extreme over "simple" diet and exercise. I'm guessing that your mom is truly concerned for her child; surgery, foreign implanted device, etc. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate concern over judgement. I think you're right.....she will come around when she sees you becoming a much healthier...you

It's amazing what we learn when we open ourselves up. WLS is a common/popular option in this day & age, and when I mention it to various people, I also hear that they've got friends or family who had it done. As a matter of fact, when I mentioned WLS surgery to one of my old co-workers, she said that her mom had it & lost a lot of weight. That conversation was a turning point in my decision to move forward with the band.

Happy with my progress I just have to share with any and everyone. I'm six months out and I feel amazing ! Down 50 lbs !

I chose to tell my friends and family. I feel like this is nothing to be ashamed of, it is just a tool to help me get on the right path for a healthier lifestyle. Sometimes I think people don't tell others because they are afraid they will fail and that's a bad way of going it to this. Hold your head high, be confident and win this battle. Tell the world u got a lap band, it's ok. It just motivates me more that my friends and family know.
