  1. in August I wore size 28 jeans from LB and they were only a LITTLE loose. Today, I put on size 20 jeans and even though my legs aren't really shrinking at all (and I wish they would!), they still fit :)

  2. scale started moving again! Huzzaaaaaaaah! (and boy, what a move)

  3. I dont even know what to say about the weight anymore. Scale keeps jumping around. I think I'm still stalled - I hope that's all this is. I'd really hate to have done all that work and have it end here :(

    Workout Dvds

So today was the first day I've been to a gym in a loooong time - I know, hurrah! I actualy wasn't overly comfortable with the environment (a lot of people running on treadmills while I sat there peddling away on my bike) and to be quite honest, as a student without a car it's almost too much of a pain to try and figure out how I'm going to get there and back every time I want to go. So I thought of things I could do in my own house and thought hey, why not try a work out dvd? Two questions: 1. Does anyone have a favorite or that they found not particularly difficult that a beginner should try? I've looked up tons and I've watched youtube reviews on many of them... but they're also usually by people who aren't nearly as big and/or already work out like eighty times a week. I just worry about picking up a dvd and looking at the 'beginner' workouts and going 'uh, yeah, okay, no.' For both health and my wah-baby reasons. I'm not afraid of the work, and I'm not afraid of the sweat (it makes me feel like I've accomplished something!) but I also dont want to overdo it. 2. And the reason I asked that question is because I'm almost 90% sure I'm going to be buying a Jillian Michaels dvd tomorrow. I think the review that caught my attention the most was one that said she stated 'if I can have someone who weighs 400 pounds do a jumping jack, so can you.' Now I dont weigh that much, but that seemed super encouraging. Has anyone tried her dvds? The gym will hopefully be in my future, perhaps when I want to get into actual strength training and dont feel so out of place. But for now, any at home exercise ideas (I like videos the most - they keep me on track) would be extremely helpful! <3

    Workout Dvds

Thanks everyone! I actually picked up the Jillian Michaels dvd this morning at Target while I was out (wish I would have checked this out before I left, or I would have looked out for the Sansone dvds. Maybe I'll have to go back! And as far as cable goes, you know I hadn't thought of that - will definitely have to check it out. Didn't complete the WHOLE workout session (although 80-90% of it!) and my arms and legs feel like Jello. This good. Going to stick with it for the full 30 days or die trying I suppose. Except not really. I WANT TO TAKE A ZUMBA CLASS SO BAD! They look like SO much fun. I just want to give myself some time to get comfortable with the idea of working out before I do. Maybe come next semester!

Haha. My mom has one of Richard Simmons' Sweatin' to the Oldies - I graciously declined. THanks for the heads up!
  7. Stall/weight gain over! I think. I'm never sure if this scale is playing tricks on me or not :(

  8. Officially hit the stall. I just really hope it's actually a stall and not be being stupid about food amounts and choices. Gym routine starts Monday!

    Super Saturday Weigh In

:S I dont know what's wrong with my scale. I get on it at the same place and it keeps on giving me different numbers. Most of them I do not like, so until proven differently I'm going to pretend it's just broke and I magically lost lots of weight. Yup.
  10. I got some prilosec from my doctor - not sure if it's working since my acid reflux comes and goes, but yeah =/ I hope it goes away too.

    Super Saturday Weigh In

307 this morning down 5 pounds from last week!
  12. ^ what they said. I think you'd be surprised at how understanding some people can be. I remember having to sit in desks in highschool and just feeling ugh because I could baaarely fit in them (although quite a few people were like this so I guess maybe it was the desks). Take this opportunity to do a little pre-surg weight loss! Walk around campus a bit more (I can't wait to do this this fall since I'm going to a HUGE university) and eat a little bit smaller portions. I think you'd be surprised at what a few pounds less can feel like. Hang in there December's right around the corner.
  13. Exactly!!! I also brought the hippo that sat on my grandmother's sewing machine for years with. It's also been everywhere.
  14. Haha! He went to school with me every day (Even had a teddy-bear sided Beauty and the Beast backpack) and was there for my kindergarten graduation too. And my highschool graduation. And when I went to France. And the second time I went to France (and Italy, and London, and Switzerland.) And when I graduated (although I kinda didn't, whoops) from college. There's no way my mother would have even DREAMED about getting rid of him. I'm being buried with that thing!
  15. Wow, the IV beeping was the least of my problems. I had someone in like every flipping three hours to check to make sure I was still alive (via blood pressure and temp and stuff). I just wanted to sleeeeeep! Bring something comforting, especially if you know you might not get a lot of visitors. My parents both work too much to have taken more than my surgery day off, and I will fully admit to being 24 and having a stuffed animal I took in with me. His name is Mr. Bear and I've had him since I was 4. *flexes* Make sure you bring proper clothing - sweats are best for going home. I wore jeans and I was actually okay, but that might not be the case for most people. I also can't sleep without music or something so I had to remember ipod chargers and what not.

    To All Nervous Pre Opers

I kept pushing the self medication thingie when I knew I had to move in preparation but honestly, I didn't have much pain either. I think the worst part was just trying to get comfortable without moving the sutures too much (and I see no way around that really until they start to heal). I would have been more than willing to take on that pain however if it still meant the outcome I'm looking at right now shedding pounds would be well worth it imo
  17. Giiiirl I hear you! I'm the same height so it's good to hear that you have the same goal (I was looking at 175, but you know what? 180 sounds good too!) I stepped on the scale this morning and it said 310, which is amazing sine two days ago I swear it said 312. 299 here we come!!
  18. Me toooo! Weight before surgery: 366 Date of surgery: 8/7/12 Current weight: 310! Goal weight for competition: 275 Weigh in every Sat

    Sushi!

Ooo thanks for this thread. I'd been trying to get together with a friend pre-op for sushi (I've NEVER had it before and I want to try it soooo baaaaaad) but I wasn't sure how something like this would work post-op. Good to hear that people seem to manage it well enough, hopefully I do too!
  20. I'm so scared to cheat, haha. I've been watching that scale go down every other day and I'm CONVINCED if I have anything sweet at all it's going to bounce back up to my original weight. (I know this isn't the case but karma has never been nice to me) If you limit yourself from everything good you're going to go crazy and binge. I've been to a few support group meetings and more than several people have stated this. As long as you keep such things as, let's say a weekly or bi-weekly treat, you should be absolutely fine. I'm living quasi-vicariously through you guys until I stop looking at the scale and work up the courage to visit a Coldstone. I think if I meet my mini goal I'll treat myself to a scoop!
  21. I'm an extremely patient person and I felt the saaaaame way. Just keep reading all the stories that people have to say to keep yourself pumped! You'll be joining us sooner than you think!
  22. See you on the losers bench! Will be thinking about you and all the other slivers for tomorrow

    4 Month Picture

In four months!!! I can only hope to look that good! Grats, chicaaaa!
  24. I'm so glad someone else thought of this too! Hahaha. I don't do heights to well so rides and airplanes are kind of a meh goal for me. I do however want to be able to walk into to say a Target and be able to buy something that will fit. Or a GAP, oh that would be so much betterrrrr. And I want a cute pea coat that doesn't make me LOOK like a pea!
