So Nervous About Crossing The Border!

There are no "drugs issues" going on in Tijuana. It is a town like any other. Be open to new experiences and an open mind. You will be fine.

    I Am Starving!

Starving is a word that should only be used for those in third world countries. You are not starving your head is still telling you that you should be eating. You haven't caught up yet with your tummy. It does get better on full liquids an then more pureed foods. You will be fine.

    Pureed Food

Canned meats can be pureed: tuna, chicken, turkey all canned mix with your favorite add ins. Also cottage cheese is very high in protein, puree in a small food chopper measure out two tablespoons.

Starting Full Liquids Too Soon Bad Idea?

You shouldn't be worrying about your protien the first week. I was on clears for 8 days then I am now going on two weeks full liquids. I don't think I am ready for pureed. I still have a hard time getting down shakes and soup. Don't rush yourself, think of your healing tummy and this diet is to help it heal. You don't want to cause any harm. Follow your doctors orders/

Husband Is Concerned With Me Going To Mexico

I had a revision on Sept 10th they will look after you. It is like any other city. The Doctors are awesome and they are really skilled when it comes to this surgery, more times over than doctors in the U.S. I wish you well with your surgery!

    Over One Year Out

What are you eating/how much? Do you exercise? Protein first? I am sure that these are all the things you focused on to lose the 50 pounds. You need to get back on track back to basics and work your sleeve.

Amout Of Food Your Able To Hold

    How much are you eating?
  8. I think each one of us thinks our surgeon is the best! Do your research and you will find the one right for you
  9. I had my revision on September 10th 2012 and it was the best decision ever. The band is definitely not forever and I knew it would have to be removed eventually. Well wishes to you and your surgery.

    Feeling Like ?%#*

I am 18 days out. You won't be able to get all your protein in for a while without consuming shakes. I have 6 "meals" a day, as I can only consume 4 oz at at time. This seems to keep my energy up and I walk for at least 40 minutes of intentional exercise a day besides regular activity. I am sure the more real food we can eat the more energy we will have. Hang in there...................you are in this for the long haul.
  11. Your hunger is not your body it is your head. What I say is you kind of have to divorce food, you are going through the mourning stage. There is no turning back, take control and follow your diet plan to a tee. You don't want to injur your new tiny tummy. Hang in there every day will get better, and remember to sip, sip, sip your water.

    Popcorn

You will also notice that in the beginning you won't have any cravings and many say that their preferences change. You may not ever crave popcorn again!

    No Drain?

it really is no big deal to have the drain, I had it in for 2 days. The benefit is they can do a third leak test to ensure no leaks, I think this is very good. Drains are a very up to date procedure to ensure no complications.
  15. Threetimesacharm

    No Drain?

BIggirlpanties you are incorrect. There is a drain for the sleeve. I had the BAND and did not have a drain. Maybe you got this backwards!

    Band To Sleeve - Thoughts?

Just a question your NUT says bypass? It is more than just food. I had a revision on September 10th and it was the best thing I could have done. My band was not faulty but I knew I would have to get it out sooner or later, I don't believe it is forever. The sleeve is so different. Only 16 days out but with the band I couldn't even have a shake for breakfast now with the sleeve I can. You won't be disappointed doing the sleeve, it is the right choice.

    A Lighter Me... Tijuana

I have already posted in another topic in self pay mexico but my expereince was that alighterme is more attentive, I saw them at the hotel everyday, not mine from ready for a change. I had an issue my first day at the hotel after surgery and they didn't come over to help me and I was by myself, it was very upsetting. Aligherme just seem more professional and the rep from alighterme even stopped to speak with me and offered help if I needed it. If you haven't made a deposit, check out alighterme you have nothing to lose.

    Feel Like Throwing Up

Are you still in the hospital. If so they should be giving you an anti-nauseant. I had two days in the hospital and it went fine, I had constant medicine and no issues at all. You should contact your surgeon for some anti nausea meds so you can feel better. But keep trying to sip your water as dehydration can also cause nausea, sip, sip, sip is very important.

    My Story

Oh Mary K I am so happy for you. I agree it is never to late to take back our lives. I was sleeved in Mexico with Dr Garcia on September 10th and it has been a great experience so far. I too am not hungry and am still on full liquids. In fact I really have no desire to eat anything. Good Luck in your journey!!

    Portion Control

It will also be a good idea to measure or weigh your food to ensure you get the proper portion size. Good Luck.

    Bougie Size

From what I understand it is just millimeters of difference which equals very little. Im my opinion I think it has something to do with the person. An example of someone who was sleeved 4 days before me is drinking her 8oz shakes, getting in all of her water and has started pureed which she just chews really good to make it pureed. I on the other hand can only consume 4oz at once and drink water all day to make sure I can get in as much as I can. I say take it slow don't rush to eat pureed, my diet says you could be on full liquid for 4 weeks. I think this helps to heal the stomach small so it is not used to larger quantities. This is just my opinion I really don't know. Don't worry you are doing the right thing and it will work out great.

    Traveling & Still On Liquids

I think you can bring it with you. Definitely the protein, buy yogurt and soups when you get there. This is now your life so you have to be able figure out how it will work for you. You can do this, no worries.

Help Me Pack For Dr. Garcia, Please...

No, hard candy it is full of sugar! I brushed my teeth the next day after surgery. Bring some of the dry mouth spray if you think you need it, I brought some but did not use it. Lots of changes of clothes I underpacked and would have liked a few more outfits, a jacket for the evening it gets cool. when you are at the Marriot, ask for a pillow top bed as the ones without are hard as a rock.
  25. The OP is only 4 days post op. I was on clear liquids for 8 days following my surgery and it included diluted apple juice. I am not recommending drinking it for ever but on her 4th day instead of orange juice yes. Orange juice was not on my post op diet.
