    Is It Bad...

yes it is bad, don't lose your license, get a picture now and then a new one when you drop more weight.

    Apples-Honey Crisp

Well it is not bad but most fruit are higher in carbs. Berries; strawberries, blueberries, raspberries are much lower. I would stay away from fruit until you are farther along in weight loss say closer to goal. Stick with veggies.

    Surgery Complete-Feeling Great!

Congratulations!! I was there on Sept 10th with Dr Garcia. My surgery went great also. Just keep sipping your water so you don't dehydrate, I saw it happen when I was there. You are on your way!!
  5. Diluted, unsweetened apple juice, delicious. Had this every morning for "breakfast".

289 Lbs To Go. Is It Even Possible?!

You can do anything but.................why don't you want the RNY? Would it not be a better option for you? I would hate to see you have to go back in for a revision surgery to reach your goal. Discuss it with your surgeon, loved ones and do some more research. You want to be successful first time 'round.

For Exbandsters Who Have Had Positive Weight Loss

Hi your story sounds very similar to mine. I had my band for 5 years and lost about 60% of my weight. I was able to maintain this loss give or take 10 pounds but as you know was not able to eat many healthy foods so I ate crap most of the time. So I had my revision September 10th and I must say that it is the best decision that I could have made. I am 8 weeks today, with a loss of 41 pounds; 9 of those pre-op. I am so happy, can swallow vitamins, eat chicken, yogurt and scrambled eggs. None of which I could do with the band. My goal weight is 180 pounds and I am 5'10". Don't worry you too have made the right decision, thinking of you on surgery day!!

    Weekly Miralax Date

Bottom line is if you have to go, you have to go. Benefiber is good but if it is not working for you it's not helping. Take milk of magnesia so you can go then start some sort of regimen that you think may work for you. Many take miralax and it works.

    Cheesy Experience

Wow I eat melted cheese all the time. I have no problems but didn't know that we were not supposed to eat melted cheese. I wouldn't worry.

    Midoctor

Jarrod no worries as posted in your other query, Dr Garcia is wonderful and so is his hospital. He has one floor it is a small hospital but also has an ICU if needed. His offices and staff are on the second floor. Pharmacy is on the first floor. Stop in there on your way out if you need any extra/more medications.
  17. I am 8 weeks out and can not handle any kind of sweet drinks or food. I really notice sugar in things for example tomato sauce. Most low cal sweet drinks I can't drink. I hope my taste buds stay that way!

    Hello. Recent Vsg

Hi Andy. Here is my advise: I had my revision on September 10th. I had a lapband removed and the sleeve done. I already had a head start on eating small portions, knowing when I am full excetera. I suggest that you slow down when consuming anything. Some don't feel full until they are on the pureed stage. Measure and weigh all of your food. Eat from small bowls with small utensils and put in small amounts at a time. Think of what your stomach has gone through major trauma. Even though you CAN do XYZ you really shouldn't. Good Luck

When Were You Allowed To Eat Nuts?

I don't think nuts are on the agenda for quite a while. I am 8 weeks and will not be eating nuts. IMO it should be 3 months or more. Check with your doctor.

    Fernando Garcia / Hiatal Hernia

I had a small hernia(stomach) and he did not charge me extra. I think it may have been different from yours. I agree though he wont charge much I say less then $500.00. He only charged me $500.00 to remove my lapband which I think is phenominal!

    Sleeve Stretching

Scrambled eggs, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, meats in a can(chicken, turkey, ham) You may want to puree them a little first. For some it is hard to chew well enough. Are you weighing/measuring your food? Do you take tiny bites and chew well(like a third of a teaspoon). Try using small cutlery. Try having proteins only I have not eaten anything else and have had no issues at all.

Rough Start Post Op 5 Weeks

I think you need to get back to basics and realize why you got the surgery in the first place. You are very lucky that you did not get sick or worse a leak for your lack of committment to your surgery. Stop right now, go back to the program: protein only, 64 ounces water or more, and 60-80 grams protein. I wish you the best Tamara, you deserve to lose the weight for good!
  25. Go over to the forum, "self pay mexico" you will find a wealth of information. I went with Dr Garcia in Tijuana, he is an amazingly skilled surgeon and very reasonable. He is fantastic and does his surgery in a hospital setting.
