Mini gastric bypass VS gastric bypass...Insights?
Threetimesacharm replied to Tdot77guy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree, why not get the full bypass? You may regret it if you don't. The full bypass is only 1.5 hours. Don't worry about time spent in surgery, once you are under you are well taken care of. -
It can be very difficult to get your fiber or the right food in. Even now if I eat an apple it really fills me up and I am 23 weeks out. I regularly take Colace(240 mg) daily and often have to supplement with Milk of Magnesia.

How do you know you're doing enough?
Threetimesacharm replied to gpmed's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Protein was always the center at each meal for me; egg for breakfast, protein shake, fish, turkey, beans for lunch and dinner both with small amounts of veggie. I can't eat raw salad yet just doesn't go down well. If you want to lose more definitely increase your protein and watch the nuts(high in calories). I also have a snack usually yogurt or cottage cheese with berries. -
For those still in the weightloss phase you might want to consider "Genie" Bras. They come in wonderful colours some with lace and you don't have to worry about band or cup size just S-XXXL. I still wear them as I am overwhelmed to go and buy some "real" bras.

Supersize VS. Superskinny
Threetimesacharm posted a topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
As I am watching all of the "Fat Doctor" series I came across this series done in the UK. During the episodes they also visit the fattest city in America which is shocking. Wow this series itself is very shocking and will definitely help me to stay healthy. It is amazing to see either end of the spectrum of what each person eats. It was actually nauseating me watching the copious amounts of food that the supersize person ate and how unhealthy the superskinny person was. Very informative series and worth watching! -
Ahead of schedule / losing too much?
Threetimesacharm replied to ashleybrady87's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
If what is typical? That you have lost 100 pounds? Congratulations!! Only you know if you think you look sickly. You need to be happy with the weight you desire. What I find is that if you haven't been at a smaller weight and people that know you they think you are too thin because they are not used to seeing you like that. Over time I think as the weight settles with us people don't think we are too thin; does that make sense? -
What can I do with...cottage cheese?
Threetimesacharm replied to Inner Surfer Girl's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
1/2 cup mashed with fork and add about 1 tsp. sugar free lemon pudding mix. Tastes like cheesecake. I either add fresh berries(blueberries/strawberries) or a tsp. of sugar free jam. Just delicious! -
Sleeve to MGB...
Threetimesacharm replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery Forum
Hi Amanda I remember you from the sleeve site. I had sleeve to full gastric bypass in September 2015. Best thing I could have done. Why do you want the mini surgery? I have much better restriction and no desire for sugary/greasy foods with the GB. Taking Vitamins is a breeze. I used Bariatric Pal, here, Dr Zavalza and it was a wonderful experience, give them a shout, great support and a guide/helper everyday, two years nutritional counselling, email/facebook contact 24/7, you can't beat it. -
Am I going to gain it all back?
Threetimesacharm replied to bellabloom's topic in WLS Veteran's Forum
Oh it would be very easy. It's all in what you are choosing to eat. Very possible; you are what you eat! All kinds of sliders would do the trick! -
13 months Post Op
Threetimesacharm replied to FindingSassy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well exercise is good for overall well being and health but is not a big contributor to weight loss. Maybe you need to re-evaluate what you are eating. During weight loss phase I don't think I ever went over 1,000 calories and ate very low carb, high protein. -
At 7 days I was still on liquids. I certainly wouldn't have tried eggs yet. Have you done pureed stage? I know all plans are different but don't try to eat them yet if you feel you are not ready too.

Eating & Drinking question
Threetimesacharm replied to CINNAMON 2015's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too write it down, yes old school. I actually purchased a few biggest loser food journals when they were on sale and it was a good investment. I will probably always keep journals of my food intake; I want to keep this weight off for good! -
Is losing 30 pounds in 30 days do able?
Threetimesacharm replied to CanadaLoser's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions

Revision from sleeve to bypass
Threetimesacharm replied to Angels827's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I can't help with the insurance part of your question however I have had the sleeve and revised to the bypass. The absolute best decision I could have made. Very different feelings and restriction with the GB. I also have an aversion to sugars and fats by this I mean have no desire to eat either; and I don't plan too. Good Luck with your process. -
Help! Possibly doing DS rather than Sleeve
Threetimesacharm replied to Adam Kramer's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Yeah ... no. There's absolutely no research to base that categorical statement on. None. Yeah! I personally have had the sleeve and the gastric bypass so I speak from experience! I find that I have very different restriction and feelings towards food. Personally as I said with the sleeve it has less restriction from fats and sugars, this is well known as the GB does. With the sleeve I also could eat more food much sooner than I can now(I had a 36F)Personally I find this to be more effective to keeping weight off. -
GB questions
Threetimesacharm replied to ForgivenAndBeloved93's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The drain does not hurt upon removal and no you will not have it in for a week, normally a day or two. -
Help! Possibly doing DS rather than Sleeve
Threetimesacharm replied to Adam Kramer's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Can I ask why you did not consider the gastric bypass? Not sure how much you have to lose but you ultimately will have better success with the GB. -
Alcohol- beware.
Threetimesacharm replied to bellabloom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Definition of addiction; the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma. I don't think being addicted to anything is a good thing. Anything in excess. -
Bowel prep not working
Threetimesacharm replied to brindall's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I didn't have to do any bowel prep at all. Remember you probably will be doing clear liquids the day before and nothing to eat or drink 12 hours before surgery. I was fine had no issues. -

I just saw "All of Me"
Threetimesacharm replied to Pinkgirl1234's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with j16, super morbidly obese women celebrating their size and partying it up? Two minutes in watching and I wanted to turn it off but couldn't had to watch to the end. It must be many years old as yes Zyalynn was there and had her surgery more recently. Terrible portrayal of obese women; I bet none are happy and all of them have reasons why they eat. If you haven't watched it yet; don't bother it is not worth it. Reality TV programs focusing on weight loss/exercise programs are much more enjoyable to watch.
