    Low Carb/More Carb weight gain

I do get carbs from vegetables, yogurt(not everyday). I don't eat packaged foods sometimes have a prepackage fish filet. I will try adding more carb foods. Thanks for the input.

    Feeling lazy

Strap on those athletic shoes, wear comfortable clothing and step outside and go for a walk!! The best form of exercise, it is reenergizing, great for your heart, metabolism and circulation. If you get a pedometer it will track your steps and you can then see your progress. Good Luck!!

    with our tiny new tummies......

Well yes to gain a pound you still need to consume 3500 extra calories. I guess also though that any weight "gain" that we have has to be related to water. I can eat 200 more calories than normal and gain 1.5 pounds! It is frustrating but I guess I keep my carbs low and my excess water is nil at this point. So water fluctuations it is!!

    Dr JC in PVR!

No I did not use him, but did you research other doctors? My doctor in Tijuana was $4700.00 in September. You mentioned you are self pay so I thought I might offer another Doctor.

    Having a rough time

Wow I definitely can sympathize. I take miralax(clearlax) everyday. If I don't I have real bathroom issues too. You may have to do this too. I hear for some once their food intake increases they don't need too. I say better be regular than sorry!! I bet you will be laughing about that incident in no time!! I know that the plateaus are frustrating, I have been on one for 2.5 weeks. I was sailing along and with only 15 more pounds to go I thought, no problem it will happen fast. I find that if I eat more than 800 calories I gain. I try to stick around 600-700 and eat high protein. The stall will break, one day at a time!! YOU GOT THIS!!!
  7. I had my band in June 2007. I had lost 60 pounds and kept it off but no where near goal. I knew that I could not keep the band in forever; I didn't have any complications other than the standard. I could eat chicken one day, not the next, I couldn't eat yogurt, fruit, most veggies or beef. I basically was living on slider foods. After finding LBT I found my way to VST and 6 weeks later had my surgery in Mexico. The benefit of being banded is that you know what to do: eat slowly, small bites, measure foods, no drinking/eating, no to certain foods. I can say that it has been easy for me: surgery was great no pain no gas. No vomiting, no sliming even though I am right now on a long plateau(2.5 weeks) at 16 weeks I had lost 63 pounds!! I am very happy with this as I am now 14 pounds away from goal!! It is the best decision to have made. I have no worries now about this foreign band in my body and what could happen. I now have a $16,000.00 sovenier when it was removed. I love my tiny tummy and you will too! Best Wishes!!
  8. I am Canadian, where did you have your surgery? You really should also contact your surgeon and let them know what is going on. I am sure that they will give you guidance. You will probably be able to speak directly with your surgeon. I did go to a general surgeon here to look at my one incision that was infected as my PCP was concerned. He was an A** and it turned out it healed fine and you can barely see the scar. I hope you get better..................call your surgeon.

    Can I Slap You Now?

Well in reading your post her comment was that her friend who had gastric bypass gets sick everytime she eats. How is this statement negative towards you? You could have pleasantly stated how well you are doing yadda, yadda. Maybe this would have lead to conversation about not every patient having a negative experience. Just my two cents.

    Take Home Meds...

I did not get a blood thinner, the compression stockings were provided.

    how do you know

You need to measure/weigh all of your food portions. When you are satisfied to stop eating or you will over fill yourself and become very ill.

Over ate feeling before and after

If you TRY to overeat with the sleeve you will be in excrutiating pain and will probably vomit and slime. This is definitely not the goal to have. You need to be more prepared for this surgery so you won't want to overeat. Seek councelling and guidance before you commit.

    Recovery for plastics

Tummy tuck is longer than breast lift. I don't remember exactly but TT is about 4 weeks to feel comfortable. Get your surgery when you are ready, 2 years, that sounds extreme. Your weight could be up or down regardless of time frame.
  14. Sleeved September 10th lost to date 63.4 pounds 14 more to go!!

hope I didnt screw up today

Well if it was a fruit smoothie know that ALL fruit is high in sugar. They might not add any but there is lots already there. Live and learn I guess and next time be prepared: bring your snack/lunch with you to eat after, string cheese, coldcuts, hard boiled egg, shrimps.

    Sleeved a year ago today...

Thank you for sharing your story. We all have our crosses to bear and personal storms to weather; but you made it!!! Size 14 fantastic!! I am 5'10" too and am still considered overweight(according to BMI) and wear a size 11 !! I would like to make it to 180 pounds, that is 14 more pounds to go. All the best with your continued journey!

    5 mins per bite

I never did a "five minute per bite". I measure out my food, use a small fork/spoon, take very small bites at a time and chew very slowly. Also you can put your utensil down between bites, this should work for you. Good Luck.

    I feel out of control

Amy I have seen alot of your posts too. Are you a type "A" personality? You need to slloooowww down and take this one day at a time. I believe your are over stressing yourself and I think I have said it before you are going to make yourself sick over it. Stop thinking of what is going to be i.e. post -op, what you are going to eat, how you will feel, what you will do. You need to focus on TODAY and how it goes. One day at a time AMY......................................

Nurse told me I am not losing enough?

Being constipated can definitely have a negative effect on your weight loss. Hopefully your prescription will kick in and get things moving and keep it that way. I bet that you will notice a big difference when it does.

Should i be able to eat this?

At this early on, should you be eating chunky soup(even though pureed)? I was still on liquids at this point. If not advised by your doctor it is not wise to experiment with food as your stomach has just gone through major trauma and is desensitized. You could be causing yourself some harm. Be careful.
