?'s I have on protein drink I made @ home

Look the berries are an absolute no-no the tiny seeds would get stuck in your sleeve, ask your doctor for guidance. What do you mean powdery tasting? Add one scoop powder, the liquid of your choice and any flavouring that you like(just watch your quantity). As I am sure you have heard your tastes will change after surgery, you may like the shakes.

?'s I have on protein drink I made @ home

You can't have the fruit in the beginning. Yes it does sound like it is two portions; two scoops of protein powder? I am sure if you remove the fruit the carbs wont be so high either, 37 wow too high. My protein powder has 2 grams per scoop. I make my shakes with protein powder(any flavour), soy milk(one cup) it has high protein and a flavouring of my choice for that day.

Will i want 2 hotel nigts?

Regardless of how you will feel remember of what is at home for you. If I recall you have plenty of children who will want to run you ragged I am sure when you get home. I say take this time for yourself because I am sure, with your home situation, you will need it.
  4. I had my band for 5 years before I had my revision. I initially lost 60 pounds and kept it off. 6 months isn't very long to say that you have given it your all. Is there a support system at your Dr's office? Is there a nurse/NUT that you can speak with? You should be losing weight if you are eating less and only healthy foods. A NUT should be able to help you. I did experience the same things as you but I think giving it a longer go before you quickly switch to the VSG. I wonder if a doctor would do the revision anyway thinking that you may "give up" so to speak with the VSG which is not reversible. Best Wishes.

    Horror Story

since the original post time the OP has had nothing to say or respond with. I don't believe the OP is looking for any sort of sympathy, and she isn't getting any from me. I agree what is the point of your ONE post? This does lead one to believe in the validity of what is posted and could have been done in a malicious way. VSG is a life saving procedure........enough said.

Amazing, you look like a new woman!! You deserve it!!
  8. I just got back from a visit to the hospital(I was in Tijuana for plastic surgery). Anyway for those that have been, I just wanted to say how fantastic Dr Velasco looks!! When I had my surgery in September I think that she was a month out from her gastric bypass. She looks fantastic and I got to get an "after" picture with her and also one with Meli from ready4achange. I will try and post these pics for all to see. There were a couple of happy patients there also when I was there. Good luck to everyone on their journey there; you will love the hospital.

    Arm Lift

Your pictures are fantastic. How far out was the third(the stitches) picture? I just had my arms done on the 10th in Tijuana Mexico. I paid $1800.00 for the arm lift with lipo. They look so good I can't believe it. I have never had such thin arms. I am to wear my arm compression garments for 4-6 weeks, they say the longer the better. I only have a couple of removable stitches that too can come out in 2 weeks. Best wishes to you and your recovery.

Flying into San Diego on Jan. 16?

I want to wish you all a safe trip and complication free surgeries. I just got back from Mi Doctor hospital, I was there for a visit. I was there for PS and it was wonderful to see Dr Velasco, she looks fantastic but Dr Garcia was not there, I am sad I missed him but we took pictures and I am sure he will be happy with my weight loss(I had VSG in September). Best wishes, safe journeys

    Where to stay in TJ?

I have stayed at the Marriot and it was fantastic. I am sure you want to be close by where you are having your surgery. I am staying at the Grand Hotel tomorrow and it is a 5 star hotel. Not sure where either is located so you may have to research.

Hair loss with band, vs. sleeve

Well you pose a great question. With the lapband I was certainly never so concerned with the amount of protein I consumed and I had no hair loss. I am only 17 weeks with the sleeve and only time will tell.

Year & 1/2 Post Op Stall

"Is this all the weight I am going to lose". That is a pretty negative statement considering you have lost 141 pounds!! This is incredible!! You should be very happy with the success and weight loss you have had. Maybe this is all that your body wants to lose. How do you feel now? How do you look? Why 150? Please be satisfied where you are and see what your body does. Congratulations to you.
  18. OMG you had me in stitches laughing so hard!! Okay now I agree it must be shocker how could it do that to you? I actually have a scale called "Thinner" that has a life-time lithium battery in it. Maybe it would be worth to get one with this type of battery to prevent this from happening again. You will get to under 200 pounds! Just hang in there!

For those who have been sleeved for awhile.

I am 17 weeks, not a long timer but I don't drink after and during a meal. This means no wine with dinner. I do drink before I eat and have no problems with that(I find that all fluids run right through my stomach).

    Ugh throwing up constantly sick

What are you eating that you are throwing up all the time? This is not good. If you are on pureed stage make sure you are pureing your food, take very small bites, eat slowly and measure your food. Good foods at this stage are fish, tuna, cottage cheese, eggs, chili, yogurt, cream soups. Best wishes.

Freeze Dried and Backpacking Meals for Sleevers

There is a line of packaged low carb food products called "ideal protein". If you google them you can find a distributor in your area. They have soups, bars, bolognese, drinks and they all are low calorie, high protein food sources. Actually they are very good too.

    What to do......?

Go with your home scale. This is the one that you will be weighing in on most of the time.

    Night time eating

I too am in your boat. I think it is because it is the dead of winter and cold outside so I feel like staying in and eating. I am journaling mantras to keep me from eating, I plan out my entire day of food and do not stray from it, I have a cup of tea instead of food...............and alot of prayer!!

    Low Carb/More Carb weight gain

I have been following a fairly low carb consumption since surgery. I don't count them but probably sit around 20 grams a day. Most recently one day I consumed 6 crackers, this sent me on an eating frenzy(as much as it can be) I felt that I ate more protein and didn't get my full feeling. Well the next day up 1.6 pounds. I know that carbs need water and I am sure that this is water weight but has anyone experienced this? Is this why it may be better to go a few pounds below goal because when you get to goal and start consuming more carbs you may retain the water needed for the carbs? Any insight is greatly appreciated.
