Sleeve or Plication? Scared to death and nervous.
Threetimesacharm replied to Max2735's topic in The Guys’ Room
To the OP: you will make the right decision for you and know when the time is right. I went to Mexico for my revision and it was a great experience, excellent care and I had an excellent surgeon. It is very safe and many on here have gone to Mexico and their success shows. I wish you the best in the decision you make. -
quickly full but hungry every couple hours
Threetimesacharm replied to KimmieMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well in the beginning I didn't want food. I barely wanted to progress through the stages. Now I do want food but not nearly as much bad stuff as I would have before surgery. I can't ever even image going to McDonalds again, I really don't eat out, I basically eat whole foods and sometimes a cheat here and there. Your outlook changes along with your new tiny tummy. Give it time, yours will too! -
Did you mean to type 15 ounces? This seems way to much food. I eat 4-6 ounces depending what it is and am 6.75 months out.

No More Advil.....EVER!
Threetimesacharm replied to JeffNNJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just to share my opinion, a physiotherapist will help you to strengthen the muscles in that area to hopefully alleviate the pain. Accupunture has always worked wonders for me so you might want to give that a try too. I am very leary about taking any Nsaids now, I don't want to risk getting an ulcer in my tiny tummy. I just tell my PCP that I can't take Nsaids and he prescribes me some thing else; easy. -
Nervous about maintenance
Threetimesacharm replied to Joe I's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me I wouldn't say that maintenance is harder than before sleeve. I find it easier because you really can't eat much food and I find if I do I don't feel well. I agree that carbs need to be monitored as these foods you CAN eat more of so you do. I find if I watch my carbs and still basically eat what I did during weight loss phase I am fine. The luxury is that you can eat what others do and not worry about gaining because the sleeve is your built in portion control. -
Riced cauliflower is fantastic. Put it in your food processor and pulse until it looks like rice. Put in microwave to cook(3-5 minutes) and depending if it is fresh or not does not need any water, it makes its own steam. Add butter and enjoy.

my foods, what's wrong...so frustrated..
Threetimesacharm replied to GlendaLee's topic in Food and Nutrition
To the OP: when you weigh yourself make sure you only use the same scale all the time. When you use your doctors, home then curves they can all be different and then discouraging. Just stick to your home scale. -
5 Day sleeve test diet a warning!
Threetimesacharm replied to Paulholio's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Milk of Magnesia normally works really well too. The pouch test is used for those who have a pouch: RNY, gastric bypass patients. Since we don't have a pouch it may just work by getting you back on track with your eating. -
Spicy buffalo pretzels!
Threetimesacharm replied to aylalinngren1026's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmm no pretzel, period. Go ahead and try some hot sauce; since surgery I have been a strong convert to the hot stuff and can't get enough of it. -
Drinking and Eating
Threetimesacharm replied to JennyBeth's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At least you are aware of it and working towards changing that habit. The best way, don't have any drinks around you when eating. Believe me the longer you do it you won't ever again want to eat and drink at the same time. You can do it!! -
The myth that high BMIers lose more quickly
Threetimesacharm replied to TES's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not a myth: a 200 pound person and a 400 pound person need different amount of calories just to keep their systems working. So if both are sleeved and eat the same amount, theoretically the larger person should lose more weight. Hense we say they lose more quickly; they just have more weight to lose. -
No not dumping(sleevers don't get dumping) but you are right something in the shake or pudding. Could be the aspartame or sweetener used in both. Experiment and not have these particular foods and see what happens. Good Luck
-
By June you should be able to incorporate more snacks into your regime. So guessing then at 9 weeks or more things you could try: nuts protein bars high fiber crackers those packs of crackers and cheese(not the healthiest but will fill you up) jerky or pepperoni sticks smalls cans of tuna, chicken(these are great to bring, I have done so)

After reading up on this VBG surgery it sounds very risky to try and revise to another surgery. I would be very cautious to do so. The VBG surgery as I read needed to be followed pretty strictly to be successful. To be successful with the sleeve the same really needs to happen. Good Luck with your decision.

Has any one had Dr. Fernando Garcia in Tijuana Mexico?

Patient Coordinator Hell!
Threetimesacharm replied to BIZZYBIZZYBEE's topic in Insurance & Financing
Be thankful sounds like a good omen to me. It wasn't meant be at that location; someone helped you make the decision to go elsewhere and I will bet it will go through with flying colours!! Don't worry you will be sleeved before you know it!! -
This has been a long "JOURNEY" but worth it!
Threetimesacharm replied to mandyMO's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
To the OP, congratulations on your success and the decision to go to the sleeve. I had a revision and the sleeve is 1000% times better in so many ways. I know that you will reach your goal weight!! You look absolutely fantastic!!! -
Sleeved Twice - My Story
Threetimesacharm replied to Canadasleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Canada, My well wishes go out to you now. I am in Ontario and had my surgery with Dr Garcia in tijuana in September 2012. I reached my goal weight in 6 months less a day and am now 5 pounds under goal. Best thing I could have ever done for myself!! So glad you went for a revision, I wish you lots of success and hope you reach your goal weight quickly!! -
Too much or not enough?
Threetimesacharm replied to cartmansnj's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me at less than two months I could barely eat one scrambled egg or cheese string or 2 ounces of soft meat/fish at a time. I would drink 4 ounces of protein shake at a time and then a few hours later have the rest. I guess that you are male so maybe your stomach is larger/longer that allows you to eat more. -
