sleeve and weight watchers
Threetimesacharm replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weight Watchers would be a great support group system for you Shelly it seems that you need it. It would be virtually impossible to eat the points set out for you, your sleeve couldn't hold all that food. For the portion/ food control aspect, I think you really need to get back to basics and follow that plan set out for sleevers; don't lose sight of the wonderful tool you have. Throw out all the cinammon rolls and junk and crap you have in your house and get back on track. Come on Shelly you can do this, it is all in your desire and what you want for yourself. -
How much protein do I need?
Threetimesacharm replied to canadianchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't remember how far out you are but be very careful with nuts(some docs say wait 6 months for nuts) and dried fruit is extremely high in sugar and calories. Stick with chicken, turkey, deli meats; pureed or soften them up if you have too. This would be way better than eating goldfish or granola, you need to break that snack habit or it will get out of control as the months go by; trust me I love crunchy snacks!! -
Hi, Just help me to understand; you HAD your surgery on February 23 but now want to do Jenny Craig? The whole point of having the surgery is to help you eat very small portions to lose weight. What exactly are you eating? Post more information in this regard so we can help you to help you work your sleeve not pay more money to go to some diet place. FYI: I did very low carb for the majority of my weight loss phase: tuna, cheese string, fish, chicken, turkey, eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, other cheeses, sometimes chili Also a little veggies: cauliflower rice, kale, green beans. BTW I also had Dr Fernando Garcia for my surgeon Please PM me if you need more information. Best wishes.

I have only had acid reflux since having the sleeve. I took omprazonale at night, this is when I had the most troubles. I took it for about 3 weeks and am now better. I always have some on hand though just incase.

Endonscopy gone wrong

How awful for you!! I had mild sedation and my throat was just numbed with spray and I didn't feel a thing, it seemed it was over before it started. -
How much protein do I need?
Threetimesacharm replied to canadianchick's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Canadian, Seems that 60 grams of protein is a minimum. Some suggestions for protein to replace your goldfish: cheese strings tuna sliced deli meat cottage cheese hard boiled egg any other cheese Try to find a healthier crunchy snack option. Smartfood has just come out with a potato like chip that is made from hummus(can you imagine) but they are delicious! They come in cheese and a jalapeno flavour both delish. I have also ordered online some protein cracker/chip things and they give you fiber and protein. Also sometimes if I want crunch and not the calories I go for cucumber slices and dip. -
Your hormones also go way out of wack after the surgery due to the weight loss and bodily changes. As some others have said maybe an antidepressant will help. Everyone on this site knows how it feels to eat less than desirable foods and how it can affect us. Hang in there, with continued weight loss I bet you will see the clouds start to part and the sun will start to shine through!! Best wishes.

Just ate a Wendy's cheeseburger!
Threetimesacharm replied to fancynancy's topic in Food and Nutrition
You know what not sure what part of my initial post was so offensive, just asking what she was looking for................I still stick with the latter...................to this poster, good luck wait until you are years out and see if your perception changes. Never stated I was a know it all just realistic comments and I am far from an expert but I presume unlike yourself I have dieted in the past and failed and I don't want to repeat it. -
Anyone w/ a BMI under 40 and self pay?
Threetimesacharm replied to Linkin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Mexico and it was the best decision I could have made, BMI 37. The surgeon was an excellent skilled surgeon and I have had no complications at all, care was also top notch. Mexico is very safe and the price is under $5000.00. Look further into mexico if price is a concern for you, no worries and it will be life changing for you. -
Just ate a Wendy's cheeseburger!
Threetimesacharm replied to fancynancy's topic in Food and Nutrition
Thanks for being my phsychologist!! Far from forgotten but I don't believe anyone should get a "high five", for eating junk food, this food will NOT help us to maintain our weight loss. This is not my first kick at the can and for me the smell and look of fast food is revolting!! Do a little research first into the calorie/fat/sodium content in these foods and I am sure you will think twice about eating it. It is much healthier to cook/make your own burger than any fast food. Isn't fast food what got us to this point in the first place? Reverting to old habits? Just a slippery slope to ride on and then we will be hearing, "Why am I not losing weight"? -
No will power!
Threetimesacharm replied to kiki1196's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are right it is not easy at times. The good thing though is this, you truly can not eat as much as you could before; even of potato chips(so I have found). Food can not be a demon, we all will at some time eat less than desireable(okay desireable!) foods but we need to just get back on track when we are done. When you start to lose a significant amount of weight this really helps because you want to keep the weight off. You can do it!! Oh and I find having what you want is the best thing, eating around it(low fat/carb this or that) never really satisfies so you end up eating more than if you just ate the real thing in the first place. -
That early on I pretty much was eating the same things everyday: cottage cheese, cheese strings, soft fishes, canned meats(turkey/ham), eggs(anyway), luncheon meats, chili, refried beans, yogurt.

So what is it that you want us to say? Congratulations you ate a cheeseburger!! Or why would you want to eat crap fast food......................I hope that it is the latter. -
So for real, how do you chew your food into a mashy mush of ...
Threetimesacharm replied to LipstickLady's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is why there are food phases you must follow: clear liquids, full liquids, then the pureed stage is great; you puree your food so again early on no chewing, then the soft food stage the food is already softer so this week easy to eat, then on to more solid foods. You don't have to chew until mush. Follow your food eating stages to a "T" and you will be fine. -
Ate too much

The best advice you can give a fellow sleever
Threetimesacharm replied to beba238's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Personally I believe there is some good information here but please take each point as a grain of salt. What I mean is everything does not work for everyone. I am at goal and do follow a healthy eating plan, exercise, lots of water, low carb and track what I eat. Ithink that it is important to weigh your self frequently, you need to keep abreast of where your weight is, a gain can come very easily and if you are not aware of it you may start on a slippery slope in the wrong direction. I weigh daily or every other day and may tweek what I eat that day to compensate(less sodium filled foods, different carbs etc). Remember that it is a life long journey that we are on so experimentation is what it is all about. -
Fellow band to sleevers: was your post op food progression slow?
Threetimesacharm replied to kshallow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my revision on September 10, 2012 and had no issues at all. When progressing through the food stages, as I listened to my body, I did extend some phases by a couple of days and it was well worth it. I have had no vomiting, no sliming, but I also do not overeat. I learned many lessons with the band so the sleeve has been quite easy for me. I reached my goal weight in 6 months less a day and currently am still losing. WOOHOO sleeve!!! -
I've been sleeved, but many complications followed.
Threetimesacharm replied to vickytom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
To the OP: thank you for sharing your story with us. I will pray that you recover every day and one day will look back on this as a distant memory. It is such a warning to those who don't take the surgery seriously hopefully your post will sink into those who think this surgery is like getting a tooth pulled; it sure isn't. May God Bless you and watch over you during this trying time. -
Looks like it's going to be Mexico after all. Need help with details!
Threetimesacharm replied to Olivia23's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Just to clarify, MI Doctor is a full service hospital. Be careful what posters say who have not been there. I had my surgery at MI Doctor hospital with Dr Fernando Garcia and he is an amazing surgeon. Please research him through ready4achange. Care was excellent and I stayed two days in the hospital and three at the hotel; plenty of time to re-coup. I also flew to San Diego and was picked up at the airport for transport. At the time the sleeve alone was $4700.00, I had a revision so I had paid more but not much. -
Couple new to the whole WLS. Our details, need advice!
Threetimesacharm replied to TandT's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I don't know enough about RNY to voice my opinion on that surgery. I went to Mexico and used Dr Fernando Garcia(be careful there is more that one Dr Garcia). I used ready4achange. You are required to send in a medical history form that the Doctor reviews before giving his okay. This is where, based on your health issues, what the decision will be. Don't go by what we say the doctor is the expert. Dr Garcia can also perform an endoscopy in Mexico and will be able to see how much damage you have to your esophogus and if he can do the surgery. You only eat 1200 calories but weigh over 300 pounds? I agree that you need psychological councelling. How about tracking either on line or in a journal how much you eat every day; you may surprise yourself. Best of luck to you and your husband -
Bougie size?
Threetimesacharm replied to Huntingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my surgery in Mexico and have a 32F bougie and have had absolutely no complications. Over 7 months out I can eat 4 ounces of dense protein. I have yet to try steak. -
The best Dr and what I found in my surgery, I already posted it, but this forum seems appropriate
Threetimesacharm replied to judy79's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
You are not "bad talking" another doctor by posting your experience or your opinion; it is just that. Others can read your posts and they may be helpful to them one way other another. Thanks for naming your Dr and congratulations on your success I wish you the best. -

Threetimesacharm replied to judy79's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
what is the point of your post if you don't name the doctor. It is useless to us that read it as we don't know who you are referring to. There are no bad doctors and it is just your opinion, so what are you hiding. -
advice please from people who have had plastic surgery
Threetimesacharm replied to CowgirlJane's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Oh just to add on, it will be very hard to put on your LBL garment if you do your arms at the same time. You would have to have someone dress you everyday and not sure if you could use the restroom either without help.
