3 weeks out eating about 1200 cal/day
Threetimesacharm replied to mamamareli's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Having been there and done that, I think the whole purpose of having such a small stomach is to eat a very reduced amount of food(and calories) so that you can lose a lot of weight in a short period of time. As time goes on you WILL be able to eat more food and calories. If you start off eating more as in 1200 calories in time your weight loss will slow and you probably will then be eating too much. Your metabolism does not go out of wack. During my weight loss phase I ate between 600-900 calories and never felt hungry. I now can consume more and stick to healthy food choices to maintain. Those that are successful in the long run eat less the first 6 months for sure as this is when you will have optimum weight loss. Those that have not, from what I read don't reach their goal weight, not what we are hoping to do. Definitely do what works for you but remember that the low calorie is not forever but you want your weight loss to be!! -
thinning and loss of hair
Threetimesacharm replied to kelkel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that you are doing all that you can. I too have fine hair and have lost enough for me to notice. I have taken biotin everyday since surgery and take all my vitamins and consume enough protein daily. I don't think that there is anything more that we can do, well except maybe buy a wig!! -
I've got a new TOTALLY SEXY morning routine that you won't want to miss.

Well I am no expert but did you consider a blockage? I hear that your esophagus can narrow and cause problems. If it continues I would definitely speak with your surgeon. Best of luck. -
Fear of dating after major weight loss
Threetimesacharm replied to OnlyDownFromHere's topic in Singles Forum
Well as a single woman I am not sure how to read your post. I take away that you have very low self esteem as you are worried about if/when you are single again. Are you not secure in your current relationship? Sounds like you are not. Why are you so worried about something that hasn't happened? I am sure that you have heard you have to love yourself before anyone else can. Maybe this is why you think your boyfriend will leave you. If this is a gut feeling you have, be leary, most of the time gut feelings are right. Seek counseling to help you through this. Best of luck. -

When I had my tummy tuck I would say that you are safe to go back to work in three weeks. I was hunched over for about a week then was okay walking, I also wore my binder for over a month and this helped greatly with healing. -

I don't hate my band, but ...
Threetimesacharm replied to Band07's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my revision on Sept 10/2012 and as per the other posters "friend", certainly did NOT gain any weight. I reached my goal weight, actually exceeded it by 9 pounds and have been extremely successful. I wouldn't hesitate to have the surgery I would do it again 1000% times over. -
Eating more and more....help
Threetimesacharm replied to pedsnurse120304's topic in Food and Nutrition
It certainly can be a challenge at times. Unfortunately you can eat more junk foods: candy, chips, chocolate, ice cream, cakes all the things that we really don't need to be eating. Try to focus as others have said on protein and veggies. Have only fruit as that extra food. You can do this!! I wish you the best!! -

Spouse worried about surgery - afraid I won't be the same
Threetimesacharm replied to NMJG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well you will change, hopefully you will be happier, healthier, have more energy and love the changes to your body and mind. When you say that you don't eat much, you may want to revisit and track what you eat now for a week, you may be surprised how many calories, fat and sugar are actually in the foods you eat. It is hard to become overweight by eating a little of healthy foods only. -

Threetimesacharm replied to Queen of Crop's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Very happy for you. One question though, why would you bother to post pics of boobs that are not yours, what's the point of that? Remove the pics and just let us use our imagination as your writing tells the whole story very well. -

am i the only big fat failure here?
Threetimesacharm replied to susie77453's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree you are not a failure, you just have veered off course. I too had a revision. During my weight loss phase I always ate protein first, tracked everything I ate, never ate takeaways, drank water, exercised. I do all the same things now during maintenance. Takeaway foods may be doing you in; high in calories, fat, sodium and some times fillers. Go back to basics and set goals for yourself. You have to be accountable AND weigh yourself : I weigh most every day, this way I am accountable and if I go up a couple pounds I watch what I eat the next couple of days. I have read that those that keep their weight off(from any method of weight loss) weigh themselves often. You can do this!!!!!! -
More on Gov. Christie...
Threetimesacharm replied to Arts137's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Maybe the surgery was done in his "home town" NOT his home. I know when I got my band I too thought that it was less invasive and at the time only bypass was available and thought that this was too drastic. I thought that I could do it with the band........ -
Afraid I will still want to snack/eat unhealthy!
Threetimesacharm replied to Doglover4's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For me at 8.75 months out it is very possible to eat the wrong foods. It is not stomach hunger but I have now learned why I eat when I shouldn't be. Now I am at my goal weight so if 90-95% of the time I eat healthy I do have treats or cheat foods if you like. This is definitely a journey and changes month to month. My best advise is to stick with the low calorie/low carb diet during the weight loss phase; this worked extremely well for me. You can do this, set your mind to being a success and you will!! -
Did my revision & I am home , but I am disappointed & worried
Threetimesacharm replied to Halloul's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
So sorry to hear this. I had a revision also and if I am correct the part that they remove is barely affected by the band. Did he say what he meant by "a mess"? I would definitely get proper clarificiation, sounds to me for some reason he went very conservative, I would want to know why. For me my surgeon removed 85% and I have been super successful. I am sure that you will really have to watch what and how much you eat to get your weight off. You might consider going to another doctor(say Mexico) in time, to get your stomach made smaller. I wish you the best -
Just curious if anyone does weight watchers post op?
Threetimesacharm replied to Bos123's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am a lifetime member at weight watchers and went back so that I could see the weight sticker in the book and see that I am actually 30 pounds under my goal with W.W.(it was set my by doctor at the time). There is no way that you could consume the number of points that they would want you too. For me to keep losing I vary my calories every couple of days and do the same with carbs; lower some days and a little higher the next. I do always though watch my carb intake, if not you would be surprised how quickly they can add up. -
